      @@LiaLia0407 late reply but I learned this one by watching my left hand and playing the right hand by touch since all the notes are right there. It was weird at first but made a huge difference once I tried it

I do feel like the left hand jumping will serve me well in terms of training it to have a sense of space/distances in the future.

    Anyone got tips on how to really nail down the jumping with the left hand? When looking directly at the keys I can do it pretty accurately but slowly, when I look away from the bass notes and just focus on the middle of my keyboard I keep missing the bass note. Trying to figure out how to build muscle memory for that effectively. This is the first song I’m learning too, absolutely love this piece.

    • @HDpiano
      @HDpiano  4 года назад

      Great q, Robby! The pedal is your friend here--since it's sustaining the upper part of the chord, use that time to reset and get your pinky back down in place well before you need to play it. I would just loop those first couple left hand chords 0:29 to 0:32 and practice those movements. The nice part about this piece is that once you have the movement down, it will go a long way since the harmony is so repetitive! Start slowly and be patient. --Luke

      You bet! Practice by tackling small, manageable chunks. In this case, practice just left hand alone for a while, working on getting the hand in position while the pedal is holding the low single bass note. Notice that most of the chords the left hand plays has F# as the top note. Let that be a guide as you get your hand in position. Slow it way down, and be patient with yourself. Good luck! :)

    Is it possible to play this correctly with a full sustain pedal? When I release my sustain it mutes all notes immediately

    So I watched few lessions, still learning. But can you tell me, when playing a song do you memorize the keys or do you memorize the notes. I know about chords but I don't know how to apply that in songs because there are so many inversions of each chord. So i just end up memorizing the keys and can only play songs with one hand.

      We often use sheets to stay on track, but when attempting to memorize I use a combination of chord positions and melodic fragments. Muscle memory is a big aspect, too!

    Is it OK to play this in a different key? Thanks.

      Transposing classical pieces is not usually done; it's customary to play them in their original keys.
