Watched the vid 2 nights ago...very informative. Pulled fan out today and found motor was all crusty and worn. Pulled it apart, cleaned comm and brushes and it now works like it should. Thanks for the vid...keep 'em coming
I spent ages looking at forums and blogs trying to find why my air wasn't working watching this video showed me exactly what the problem was your a legend thank you
Thanks for the video, very informative as all your work, much appreciated. I just got back from an auto electronics place charging me $100 to tell me the fan was burnt out. They wanted to charge $590 for new unit and installation.
My issue was a melted/burnt connection at the fan unit. Sorry I can't upload photo but your tutorial helped me. I didn't have to pull unit apart like you did. If you are going to replace plug you will need yellow spade connectors. I'd hate to think what this would cost at auto electrics. All I had to do was pull the glove box out. A big thank you again.
OK big thankyou for the video, gave me confidence to tackle the task, however there is a much simpler way. No need to remove any of the trim at all, simply remove the 3 screws underneath and as you are lowering the blower turn it slightly to clear the bottom plastic trim. Getting it back in is just as easy. My aircon had simply stopped blowing and on trying to remove the plastic t-clip found it to be melted into the blower. I managed to free the yellow wire but the brown wire I had to snip. I tested the blower on a separate power source and found that the blower was working fine. I cleaned out all the plastic, placed a new metal connector (Supercheap or repco would sell them) crimped it and placed them both back on with some electrical tape surrounding them as the gap is minimal between the two. Turned the aircon on and I'm cool again, would suggest trying this before buying a new blower motor for 175 bucks which is what I was quoted from Burson's Auto parts which was pretty cheap, got quoted over 400 from Coventry's. 09 FG Falcon. Good luck and thanks again FG MODS, sorry for the essay.
Ran into this problem when I was replacing the dash trim, but there's also the screw which holds the glovebox surround underneath the left most piece of trim (adjacent to the door, when the door is closed). It just pops off with a firm tug and there's a screw underneath holding the glovebox in. Found it was easier to get to this way than through the lower panel that you mentioned.
Thanks for the vid mate, helped alot. Although you don't need to remove any trims, just the glovebox itself. Reach under and take out the 3 screws in the blower motor and with a little pull back on the bottom side of the glove box trim surround it'll fall straight out. Plugs commonly rusted in so some gentle prying with a flat head and she'll let go (hopefully). Just did mine in under 10 mins
great video thx! FG XR6 aircon blower not working, quoted $$ to repair ... came across this vid so gave it a shot ... sure enough burnt out motor and cable plug. Would like to know, given how common this component failure is where is the recall notice from Ford?
Hey i removed my motor yesterday without taking the plastic surround out. Cut a curved notch out of plastic near front screw and blower would wriggled out.
I'm sure they can be bought from Ford or SuperCheap But I actually decided to reqire it myself, because I don't trust the standard plug to not melt again.
Just curious. Did this blow fuse 25? Interior lights? Im having an issue where my tansmission says not in park and its the same.fuse as interior lights. I read ona. Ford forum that it could be linked in the glovebox. Any help would be much appreciated
I had that 2 years after buying it new , Ford dealer said to disconnect battery wait 5 minutes and go again , worked everytime but they finally replaced a component that fixed that . 2009 FG ute
i did look at the plug from supercheap, its rated at 20 amp when blower is under a 40 amp green fuse, maybe they burn out burn out because the plug used wasn't designed for its usage- same issue in my fg the blower went intermittently then dead
Great video. Not sure if this will help me. The issue I'm having is the Aircon takes anywhere from 20-30mins to start blowing cold air out, if the car had been sitting in the sun all day. In the mornings the car will blow cold air. I had changed the outside temp sensor previously and that seemed to help a bit. Any information appreciated. Cheers.
Hi Paul, We have a 2008 G6E. It has done 230000km. When the battery starts to degrade the aircon plays up just like you said. If you leave it, you will get other random faults like airbag faults, reversing sensor faults etc. I found we have had to change the battery about every 2 years when these faults start to appear. It doesn't seem to matter if you buy a good quality battery with high cold cranking amps; it still happens. So try changing your battery.
@@brendanandmichelleclancy5888 I brought the car to battery world, where I'd purchased the battery and the cca was higher than stated and volts good also. Battery appears perfect. If I recall far less than 2yrs old when started.
Look similar to motor in BA /BF In my ba it started making noises and smoke on day so turned it off immediately! So pulled Blower Motor out dismantled and cleaned it. I mean washed all the fins with dishwashing liquid etc Then went the motor electricals cleaned and lubed commutator and brushes then adjusted the trust screw at the bottom, its like a teflon bearing , for quietest operation packed commutator and brushes bearing with grease no problems since that was 8 years ago.
Hey man great video. Recently had my heater, which was set on fan speed 6/10 just stop and seems to be not working since. I feel this may be why and looking into it all. Is there a way to verify it was it, like check certain fuses first? Or I could expose the motor and try running it?
I'm not going to say pull the blower motor down and turn it on while it's plugged in..... But maybe try that. Can't see any reason it would hurt, so long as your sensible about how you're holding it.
Thanks for this vid. My fan is no longer blowing. If this is the problem you have saved me a bit of cash. Thank you in advance. Question. Did you replace the whole blower fan or just get a new plug?
@@marty6980 Mine has never failed but I might just drop the glove box and see what's going on with that plug. If it is bad, will replace it. What plug do they use on those?
Exactly the same issue for me. Just fixed it thanks to these videos. There is another video on this showing you can do a blower repair by just taking the glove box out. Replaced with spade connectors (yellow) . Thanks to people who also upload useful comments that make this job reasonably easy. I think Ford should make a recall on the melted plug and the mixer shaft. A gould job done.
@@australiantruckspotting8883 mine has over 2 years , I had the passenger kick the motor to make it work , finally now has stopped , funny about the melted plug because I could not un-clip the connector . Funny I went to supercheap for an engine light scan ( coil packs ) and another code was there for AC fan resistor .

I bought a new plastic clip from repco and had to rethread the wire just unsure if I did this right 😅

How did you take the wires out
Mine are jammed in there aswell
Great video. Worked great for the BA falcon I have. Blower was full of leaves and just needed a clean.
How do you clean the duct system? Can you just spray liquid down the dash vents?
Hi mate great video. Any idea where to get a replacement plug for the one that is burnt out?
I'm sure they can be bought from Ford or SuperCheap

Don't need a plug..cut old one off and crimp new lugs on, just make sure you have pos/neg on correct lugs

No fuse blown when this happened.
Sounds like you've got a bit of an electrical gremlin. I'd be seeking professional help on that one.
Thank mate. Great video and I can now go and replace my Fg blow fan.
Hi I have taken all the panels off but the plug won't come out of the motor. How do I do this?

Super common issue

Aircon gas leak or needs regasing which you shouldn’t if it’s around 15 years old

Just replaced the whole unit and rewired the dead plug.
You need only unscrew these 3 crews witch ones holding the blower and it's coming off, you don't need to do anything else!
