    Great lesson Juan. Mick Goodrick cycles are so useful to learn your chords and voice leading

    Nice lesson, Juan👍😄. A good roadmap for concepts to explore. Especially liked the discussion around spreads (which you’re so killer at!) and voice leading. Multiple viewings needed to absorb missed points😉.

    Hey Juan, great lesson can't thank you enough! I've been looking for a way to practice my fundamentals again to reinforce my chord playing and voice leading. Referring to the last practice exercise of moving through keys in different interval cycles... I found it fascinating how quickly you were able to access each cycle. When I'm asked to move up a certain interval from the root of the key that's very simple for me to access, lets say 6ths C to A.. easy but I find it increasingly difficult to string together another consecutive diatonic 6th and so on... any tips on getting quicker? Wondering if you think in terms of note names or shapes changing. or most likely both lol Thanks

      Thanks for watching, Lou! Happy to hear this one hit home for you! Regarding how to get quicker, the most straight-forward answer is just practicing them. I remember being very slow when I first started, and needing a guide sheet to get through cycles. Eventually, once you figure out the procedure, you can begin to do it in your head. Go as slow as you need to to begin with. I usually think of where I'm going to next, and then try the nearest chord available based on where I'm at. Hope this helps!

    Great lesson! Regarding spread triads, is there any set method for those? Are you just dropping the lowest note an octave? Thanks!

    • @JuanDhas
      @JuanDhas  2 года назад +1

      I did a small lesson pack on that actually! That said, in essence, you would drop the middle note an octave (or raise it - either approach will work).

      @@augusito Hi Augusto, I don't have a dedicated video for that on the RUclips channel, but I do have a lesson pack available for sale on my website entirely on the subject. That may be able to point you in.the right direction!
