Depression is portrayed so perfectly through Thor is this movie. The feeling of uselessness, unworthiness and the desire to do anything to prove to yourself that you’re still worth something because the alternative is too terrifying but at the same time, not wanting to do anything in order to not fail. And so much more showed through Hemsworth’s acting.
"Avengers Assemble!" is what they say in the comics and Cap said it for the first time in Endgame so it was a really big deal for us 😭 I cried in the theaters 😅😭🥰
"Avengers Assemble" was also the name of the first Avengers movie in the u.k. (probably to distinguish it from the old Avengers tv show that had nothing to do with Marvel's Avengers.). Don't know which title they used in Australia.
“They’re all Avengers” Doesn't matter what you did or what you were. If you go out there, you fight and you fight to kill. Stay in here, you're good; but if you step out that portal - you are an Avenger.
Gamora still exists. The other version from the old timeline is still here and you even see Quill searching for her on his computer at the end. So, don't worry, Gamora will return.
@@salmanfarruz Yeah, it sucks that the character development is lost. Same with Loki; I really liked where he and Thor had gotten by the end of Ragnarok. Now it's back to the old Loki. I am really looking forward to his show this summer, though.
@@bunwalla285 That's what a lot of people haven't really understood, I remember people saying "Oh look, Gamora and Loki ARENT dead" But they still are dead, because character development wise and story wise, they've both been rolled back to themselves before their development, Gamora has been rolled back to before we even knew her alltogether
There's no scene but there is a sound at the end. It's the sound of Tony Stark banging a hammer against the metal armor for the Mark I from the first Iron Man movie.
The ending of both leaders of the Avengers was beautiful, and I do not know why people don't like them. The selfless one, Steve Rodgers, got a selfish ending, for once in his life he chose himself over the others. The selfish one, Tony Stark, got a selfless ending, proving he was a man willing to sacrifice himself for others. It was the ending both characters needed. Their story ended beautifully and their ending was opposite of one another. We had a happy ending and a sad ending. Just beautiful.
This is the reason why the MCU is one of the few masterpieces in all of cinematic history. After years and years of building up all of these characters and stories were are met with, Avengers Endgame nicely wraps up Phase 3 in a bang and shares a story we will never forget. The MCU does things other franchises couldn't do; share stories upon stories and end it with a meaningful end that is the result of the culmination of different characters we all know and love. The character development in this universe is insane, and I think that is why this movie was so memorable. I am very glad you shared this experience with all your viewers, I have never seen many other reactors do that before. Onward to more reactions and many more unique stories to tell from Marvel Studios!
And Star Wars should have learned from Marvels example: incorporating all the expanded universe (comics, books & games) not erasing it! or trying to rewrite it!
Word. IW and Endgame made even the weakest links in the series of films better upon rewatching. I love martin Scorsese but I think that dude needs to actually watch the whole series, even with his very informed and valid gripes he would see the achievement these films represent.
If you want a good channel for MCU reactions, go check out Holden Hardman, who does a lot of videos focusing on his best friend watching things for the first time. His friend also has his own channel, Matt lane fitness, where he hosts 'behind the scenes' videos for Holden's 'my best friend watches [...] for the first time' series.
The last hour of this movie is such a joy ride. I couldn't even. Tony's funeral hurt me and then just as I was starting to recover theres Old Cap and you immediately realize what he did. That about tore my heart right out. Cap getting to have the life he lost was just too beautiful for me to happen.
A lot of people say that Starlord f'd up or screwed things up in Infinity War, but if you recall, Dr. Strange said there was only one way they win and when Peter was punching Thanos, which woke him up, Dr. Strange didn't try to stop him. So, Starlord's actions had to happen in order for them to prevail eventually.
Plus you cant really blame Peter for losing it. He watched his mother and Yondu die in front of him. Hearing Gamora died was just another strike in the heart.
@DarkPaladin24 We can blame Peter, he could have just waited 30 seconds and then attacked him. You could also blame Stark for not blasting Quill before he started swinging.
I love Thor's reaction to Cap wielding Mjolnir. In Avengers: Age of Ultron he looked worried that Cap would be worthy; he wanted to be the only one worthy of it. But in Endgame, he's genuinely happy for Cap. That's fucking awesome.
Iron Man's death hit me really hard. The original Iron Man was my favorite superhero film as kid. I used to watch it over and over again, starting and stopping at random points only to resume it the next day. For those of us that grew up with the original six avengers, saying goodbye to Tony in this movie was saying goodbye to a little piece of childhood.
I love the callback from Falcon all the way from Winter Soldier when he says "On your left." If you were watching these as they were released, that was a 5 year 13 movies later callback.
I always cry for Tony. I've always loved him and this movie just proved my feelings for him, he wasn't selfish, the way he acted was just a defense mechanism.
Tony and Steve ultimately took something important away from each other. Tony began as a pragmatic, yet selfish person who enjoyed life while Steve started off completely selfless. In the end Tony makes the sacrifice that Steve would not have hesitated to do himself, while Steve took a lesson from Tony to "get some of that life he had been talking about" and enjoy life for once.
My first thought about Gamora was that they sent her back to her time where she belonged. Then, clued in and remembered that everyone she was with from that time just got dusted. lol. No sense bothering, that timeline is pretty much fubar as it is.
This movie is so great. There are so many fantastic moments, the culmination of over a decade of movies and storytelling. For me, the first thing that comes to mind is Cap and Tonys argument from the first Avengers movie, Cap saying to Tony "You're not the guy to make the sacrifice play, to lie down on the wire and let the other guy crawl over you" and Tony replying with "You're a labratory experiment, Rogers, everything special about you came out of a bottle", and now the saga ends with Tony Sacrificing himself to save everyone and Cap being worthy of Mjolnir. It's some fantastic long-term storytelling.
Very interesting, so lets break it down some Tony, Steve, Hulk (Acceptance) Natasha, Rocket, Nebula (Anger, even when it's not rage, it's them still upset) Scott, Thor, Clint (Denial, Depression and Bargaining)
And thus ends the 9 year consecutive run of Chris Evans as Captain America in 9 straight movies.....and RDJ reinventing himself and making a little known character (outside of comic fans) into a household name.
It’s crazy but it’s true. As a kid only a few of my friends knew who Iron Man was, or even the Avengers. Now that’s stuff mainstream. I only hope the X-men and the Fantastic Four can one day reach this level of awesome. They’ve got a bit of an uphill climb ahead of them though 😅.
I've been an avid film geek ever since I was a kid (29 now) and always have gone to theaters on a weekly basis because I just love film.. and I can say with confidence that the "Avengers Assemble" climax was quite literally the best moment I've ever experienced in cinema, my body was doing things that I couldn't control. I've never been in shock at a movie theater until that happened. I was in shock and crying, and I don't ever do that. I'd give anything to see it again for the first time.
If you remember,in Age of Ultron, when they were trying to lift the hammer,Captain America moved the hammer, and Thor gave concerned looks.Captain knew he could lift it,but chose not to so he wouldn't hurt Thor's pride
I never got to that conclusion. I just thought he could move it a little bit because he was almost worthy and now he is fully worthy so he can lift it all the way.
There wasn’t a post-credit scene. However, you could hear a hammer hitting metal for a few seconds which is a nod to Stark’s first Ironman moments in the cave, forging his very first suit.
I know she's not technically an 'Avenger'... but Domino should have been the one to take on Thanos. He would have tried to attack her, tripped over his own feet, split his skull open, and bled out.
I think the best thing about captain america's ending was that he got that dance/ date with peggy from captain america: first avenger, linking perfectly the start and the end of his journey.
Going on a date is one thing. But Cap and Thor giving up thier responsibilities betrays thier character as heroes. Oh well. I mean since they were writing Cap out anyways I suppose it gives him a happy ending. But I still don't think it felt right.
@@cheeseburger12 I give the Thor thing a pass because his journey isn't actually over. But Cap being presented as this guy whose only flaw he needed to fix was "being too selfless" didn't work for me given what we saw of him in past movies.
Do you guys not understand that Steve has done more than enough, literally everyone else around him gets a happy ending but he hasn't...ever I think dude is entitled to be selfish after saving the world countless times, besides, there are more than enough heroes to do the job
@@cheeseburger12 you still don't get it....the man is human, he has feelings and doubts and gets tired, just cuz he is 2x stronger and faster, does not mean he can go on forever So no, it's not who he is, it's who he chose to be and now he gets to make a different choice
It’s amazing that Tony was selfish and made the ultimate act of selflessness Whereas Steve was so selfless and (deservingly so) ended this film in a selfish way by having the life he never had
Going back to his argument with Cap in the first Avengers movie, Tony finally decided not to "cut the wire" and "leaped for the grenade". Excellent character arc for him.
The 3 most important people in Tony Starks life are all wearing suits that he made for them, the ones that he loves, he literally covers in a suit of armor to protect them. It’s a nice touch
Tony’s death hits hard because his character arc is truly complete. He goes from thinking only about himself and having nothing, to having everything finally and losing it all so others may live.
A cool thing is that Jarvis (the actor who plays him physically) also plays the role on the Agent Carter show, making him the major character to first appear in a MCU show and then cross over to the movies.
Well none of the people I thought of as possible exceptions was right but there was one other minor character named Marcus Daniels aka Blackout that was in Agents of Shield that then also played as his younger self as a bartender later on in Captain Marvel. Its a major bummer there wasn’t more crossover between Agents of Shield and the movies.
It's like I said in your first Iron Man reaction, you're in for one hell of a journey. And now we come to the end of the journey. You cried we cried, we all cried together. Rip Tony Stark, the savior of the universe.
One beautiful note is in all the Captain America movies there is a call to the first movie when he was supposed to have a "Dance" with Peggy. So in the end he got his dance with her and they lived a happy life. Such a cool detail.
Remember back in AGE OF ULTRON when they're all trying to lift the hammer, Capt. America is the only one for whom it moves a little bit, and Thor looks concerned.
@@3allz Wasn't it obvious? Look at the way Thor looks at the hammer. He pulled the hammer down. He cheated. When Vision picks it up Thor wasn't looking.
@@3allz Nope, he learned about Tony's parents in civil war when he captured bucky with sam. Bucky tells them what happened off camera after that scene and before the big fight.

@@ISavant He didn’t cause Ultron. He and Banner weren’t even close to an interface. But if you want to blame Tony for Ultron, then you also have to blame Bruce Banner, not Tony alone, so Tony only would get half blame.
I remember when Age of Ultron first came out. In that scene where they're all fooling around trying to lift Thor's hammer. There was a rumor that Captain America was actually able to wield the hammer but chose not to lift it to be humble/not embarrass Thor. Some people took it as fact and to others it was just a rumor. But now, all these years later we know the truth thanks to this film.
Imagine being the daughter of the man who saved the universe I cant imagine the amount of expectations and self esteem issues morgan will deal with Hope we see her again
It would have been great to see Morgan take on the Ironheart name and have a movie about these expectations. Unfortunately Marvel are taking Ironheart down a different route
When Natasha died, it was the heaviest moment I've ever experienced in a movie theater. To hear everyone sniffing and crying in silence was just stunning as it happened. I'll never forget that feeling.
I haven't seen anyone mention it, but i find it funny that while Steve stayed with Peggy in the past, the Steve from her timeline is still frozen in the ice.
I am so happy to see you love the ending for Steve so much. There’s a divide with it amongst fans. Split right down the middle. Half the fans love it. While the other half absolutely despises it to an almost unhealthy degree. Saying things like “Bucky was Steve happy ending! He lives for Bucky” Or “Steve had no romance with Peggy and should have ended up with Bucky!” Or “How could he leave Bucky” or (at least this one makes sense) “it doesn’t follow his character and it messes with the timeline” And honestly, I love this ending for Cap. Shipping aside, Steve always saw Bucky as his friend, never once in the MCU did he ever show any romantic feelings towards Bucky, and for those that argue he does is just fan interpretation. It has been stated and shown, many MANY times that Peggy has and will always be his girl. And it’s also stated that losing a life he always wanted from her always tore him up inside and was always something he was never able to let go of. No matter how long he stayed in the future, this version of Cap was never able to let his past go. This isn’t about Steve being selfish because that’s not something he has in his character this is him making a choice, a choice to rest, something that Tony told him to do once. Something he didn’t think he had the opportunity to do so until he was given a chance for it. Choosing to trust everyone in the present that they could handle the rest and laying down his weapon. It’s a veteran choosing to retire. He is a man out of time and chose to go back to that time to have a second chance with the woman he loved. And for those that say why didn’t he take Bucky with him. Bucky stopped living in the past once he was captured by Hydra. He knew what Steve was gonna go and still chose not to go back, because his life is no longer in the past and it’s not tied to Steve either, because sometimes you have to let friends go to achieve what they want, because it doesn’t always have to include you. Bucky knew this, said he was going to miss him and let his best friend live out a life he missed with the woman he fell in love with.
Endgame was a defining film for not only the 2010-2020 generation, but also the 90's kids who saw the origins of major comic book storylines that the MCU plots draw inspiration from. You look excellent in this vid too btw Mary! Your whole look is very well put together!

Depression is portrayed so perfectly through Thor is this movie. The feeling of uselessness, unworthiness and the desire to do anything to prove to yourself that you’re still worth something because the alternative is too terrifying but at the same time, not wanting to do anything in order to not fail.
It was proven long before then tbh.
The portals scene will never get old and nobody can change my mind
When she said "Avengers..." attack, I died inside ngl
Fun fact: Each Avenger after the 5 years was an example of the forms of grief.
Which was which?
Very interesting, so lets break it down some
Tony, Steve, Hulk (Acceptance)
Natasha, Rocket, Nebula (Anger, even when it's not rage, it's them still upset)
Scott, Thor, Clint (Denial, Depression and Bargaining)
Well... that happened in the first Avengers

I haven't seen anyone mention it, but i find it funny that while Steve stayed with Peggy in the past, the Steve from her timeline is still frozen in the ice.
Yeah that's....something
In ancient Greek stories, the true hero dies saving everyone else. This was a truly epic Greek tragedy.
Stan always said these were the modern myths...that they are....
The music during the speech and funeral is even called "the real hero"
I am so happy to see you love the ending for Steve so much. There’s a divide with it amongst fans. Split right down the middle. Half the fans love it. While the other half absolutely despises it to an almost unhealthy degree. Saying things like “Bucky was Steve happy ending! He lives for Bucky” Or “Steve had no romance with Peggy and should have ended up with Bucky!” Or “How could he leave Bucky” or (at least this one makes sense) “it doesn’t follow his character and it messes with the timeline”
And honestly, I love this ending for Cap.
Very good analysis. Bucky is like Steve’s big brother. Why people wanted to make it into something else always made me shake my head.
