Sadly, people always think they need a high res OLED and a whole ass Android running on their smartwatches.... Currently, there's only Garmin in the higher end and PineTime (*OSS*) on the lower end for consumer-level watches that are open and customisable, and I'd love to see more options.
yep, mkbhd is *useless* for that kind of thing. Until we know how it matches up against the others using some semblance of scientific measurement buying it is potentially a huge waste of money if you care about health metrics.
This sounds pretty much how my Tic watch works, I get 4 - 5 days of battery life and it has duel screens instead of duel chips/OS. It's good to see more watch manufactures trying things outside the box to get better battery life. I'd really like to try other watches but I refuse to change to one that I have to charge more than the one I'm using now. I'll probably upgrade to the tic watch 5 next
It’s neat to see OnePlus trying out a new idea, but Mobovi have perfected this idea with the Tic Watch, the LCD/WearOS hybrid system has been so good I struggle to think I’d ever buy a watch that didn’t have it. My Tic Watch 5 get’s consistent 3 or 4 day battery times and it just takes a quick charge while I’m in the shower to top back up.
I got the TicWatch3 which was supposed to get the 'new' wearOS Updates. Mobvoi decided they did not want to update the model. kind of a dick move. i'm actually considering to switch to this oneplus model
I have the TicWatch Pro 2 and it's been a very good watch, but last month it just crapped out on me. I used it as a $50 trade in for this OP watch via the OP app, plus they gave me another 10% off for using the OP app on my phone... I think what I'm goin to miss the most about the TicWatch is the secondary overlay that has the time always on. It was always a quick glance to note the time without the watch face having to illuminate all the time...
Its architecture is super interesting as we just got passed multiprocessor systems in college and it always felt like something that you'd almost never see in practice. Guess not
I love how we are chatting about the battery life of these watches and shocked by 4 days, I am sitting over here with my Garmin (AMOLED touch screen display) and I get 16 days of battery.
I use the Huawei Watch gt3 pro with a 790mAh battery (not the last model, not same fonctionnalities...). It last 4-5 days with all the monitorings, always on display, and can keep up to 12-14 days with all off.
don't forget that this watch can withstand up to 5 ATM. It's perfect for freediving. My only negatives for this watch are: - does not play nice with Samsung security -- had to uninstall my work email on my phone - workout tracking doesn't count individual reps Otherwise it's great.
The huawei watchface is too big and yea it kinda looks ugly. Also it doesn't have wearOS. Which might be a positive if you want it to connect to an iphone.
Damn, having two operating systems share the same memory is impressive as well. They need to both coordinate with each other to not corrupt any data and to communicate available memory and what not.
Have a "HONOR WATCH GS PRO" For four years now which still gets 14 days before it needs charging! It doesn't have an always on watch face though but I don't really need that as I've got all the usual bells and whistles of other smart watches and it looks way cool!
That is a huge jump in terms of battery life. But I am already happy with my Garmin watch which lasts 10-12 days on normal use. The battery life on the Garmin watches are just exceptional.
my ticwatch pro 5 is getting 4-5 days of battery as well, it also has 2 chips and two operating systems, one for wear os and one for the always on display…
Pretty awesome. Unfortunately when it comes down to it, checking notifications is probably what you do the most and that 2 second delay is gonna add up and get real annoying. Maybe they can improve the switch speed with software.
My Ticwatch 3 Pro GPS has been getting this much battery life for four years, thanks to smart and slick translucent LCD display. Massively underrated considering the competition has only just caught up.
You mentioned the battery life was when using 'Smart Mode' - does this mean there's a 'use more power mode' that might make notifications appear more quickly at the expense of shorter battery life?
Open source devs have been testing out a similar concept with full Android & Linux running side-by-side in android phones. (Not a virtual machine, the full Linux desktop OS runs simultaneously alongside Android) I'm actually using it to type this in Linux on my Samsung 24 Ultra right now with AR sunglasses & a foldable keyboard/touchpad. All fits in my pocket.
Android is just ART on top of Linux kernel, so to run a Linux desktop environment u just need the user space part to run alongside ART on the same kernel.
After watching MB review this watch, I purchased the OP Watch 2 via the OnePlus Store app on my OP 11 5G... 10% off using the OP app, $50 off for the trade in of my old TicWatch 2, & free shipping for a total of $80 off +Tax.... $ 235.39. This will be the 3rd OP product I've owned. My first was the OnePlus 7T Pro 5G McLaren Edition, coming from the Note 5 and I loved it. Since there wasn't going to be anymore android support for the OP 7T's, I leveled up to the OP 11 5G...and I love that phone just as much... Now we'll see how this OP Watch 2 holds up.... So far, I've been really impressed with OP products!!!
Jittery footage during the charging segment near the end. Just me or camera thing? I love my Galaxy Watch 6 as I have the S24u which just makes life easier together. From a Watch 4 to 6 is like night and day for battery life.
I charge my Forerunner (295, I think?) once a week. That’s with about 4-6 hours of exercise tracking (cycling or running) with in-watch GPS. I don’t use it for music playback though, so I don’t know how much that would drain it. I personally could not and would not use a watch that I had to charge every day. I think once a week is too often but I’m not _too_ pressed about it.
@@N3v3r_S3ttl3 I'm not saying this isn't the case, I'm just curious what the features are. A lot of my Apple snob friends will talk about how I'm not getting all the benefit they are with my Garmin. Actually, not only has ticwatch already done this hybrid model for a while, the ticwatch pro might even be superior because it has a separate transparent low power lcd screen thatll help you save even more battery while keeping the always on display.
But you also have to deal with one of the worst companies selling smartwatches, Mobvoi. They take forever for providing updates and terrible customer service and bad at honouring warranty.

Exactly. I never understood what are these manufacturers doing to not achieve 14 days battery life, as I had with several huawei gt watches last few years. And I am not missing any feature... So?
I don't think first 2 know what they are talking about, on that note I had 3 amazfit whatches all with 2 weeks battery life, but that is a tracker with notifications for which 90% of people is good enough
I'd love to watch you reviewing the Oura Ring, I'm curious if that makes sense over buying a smart watch since I don't want to get more notifications and more tech on my body but I'd like to get the benefits of tracking my health data.
Came to the comments looking for someone mentioning the glorious Huawei Watch GT4. My daily driver also, I always have all the functionalities on, workout every day and still got about a week of battery life, GPS works very well and has saved me from getting lost in some hikes, absolute best watch out there
I'm still on the first OnePlus watch and find it pretty good for the price at the moment I bought it. Snappy, light, battery life is excellent (12 / 20d in battery mode) and it makes everything I need a smartwatch to do : give me the moment of the day, buzz with notifications, track my sleep & fitnesses and count my steps ! Don't think i'm switching to the second one but hey, maybe in a few years !
No one ever speaks about the huawai gt pros, 5 days battery life with all features on with screen always on, I'v had it almost a year and been so impressed!
Ihave the Amazfit T-rex2 for over a year now. It does not have the option for answering calls or replying messages. But I got over 7 days with all options on. And if I turn off always on display and th option to show the notification when I turn my hand I can reach to 20 days without charging. And it is tracking my workout, my sleep. Breathing and also heart rate.
I think you should include whether or not devices support alternative apps for connecting. Not everyone wants their minute to minute vitals, location, etc. all being sent to the cloud. Even if it's not common, it'd be good for keeping that in the minds of consumers and companies that we are looking for that option.
At this point as much as I love my TicWatch Pro 5, the fact that over 6 months later it still doesn't have integrated Google Assistant is pushing me to consider jumping all in with OnePlus and leaving Mobvoi behind. I'm seriously considering getting the OnePlus Open and the OnePlus Watch 2.
I'm a little confused here. I've owned an Amazfit 2 for around 3 years, and charge it once a MONTH. Sure display not on all the time (why?) but it handles all the functions I need including notifications (the main reason I own it)... once a month! A real breakthrough would be kinetic charging from movement. Seriously, I thought the surprise was going to be something in the months, even a kinetic drive module to replace some of the battery.
Because the Amazfit isn't a "smartwatch" really, it's a glorified Fitness tracker in a smartwatch shape, can't do remotely near all the stuff actual smart watches can do like run full apps and games by 3rd parties. A Smartwatch is basically a full smartphone on your wrist, a fitness tracker only supports like a quarter of those functions but has the benefit of running a lower powered OS because it doesn't need to support all that stuff.
The overwhelming majority of us with smart watches would do just fine with a glorified fitness tracker, but it's cool and handy the few times I actually need to use the more in depth features. @@VR_JPN
I agree with with you,I had been using Apple watch 4 for a year, and then switched to the Amazfit GTS,I have to say that although the AW4 had great system animations and fluency, also had a lot of 3rd party apps, all the functions I need are time display, notifications and fitness tracking which Amazfit GTS had, that's all. @@VR_JPN
I work in embedded software and rtos's are very common. We pronounce them R-TOS for some reason. It's basically just a scheduler which runs different tasks at certain frequencies, typically 10ms, 20ms, 50ms 100ms and 1 second. Generally used on super low power devices so makes sense in this case.
Crazy how times have changed. Back in the day 300$ got you the OnePlus flagship killer and now the same amount of money gets you a 1.43" screen on your wrist lol
Still cheap. My work pay has been increasing proportionally to the inflation here in the USA , so $700 flagship killer is still feeling like a $300. Nothing changed proportions are still the same
They claim 100 hours but then that’s only with Always On disabled. If Apple had done that people would all be bashing them, how does OnePlus get away with this??
I saw that they have a section on the product page that goes into details on battery live as well and explains it surpsingly well. They give different use scenarios and how long it lasts for them.
My 3y old Amazfit TRex trashes all. Yes it doesn't have all the features but I would say it also has the most importants. Not trashing these by any means. I just think there are good alternatives which should be mentioned too. And I absolutely am sure that a big chunk of battery drainage comes from Wear OS
To be honest, most people will realize that they don't need those fancy funtions which “REAL smartwatches” bring, all they need are time display, notifications and health/fitness tracking
Reminds me of the Motorola moto x. It had two chips as well. Fast processor and an efficient processor. The efficient CPU was used when the screen was off. Lock screen notifications, sensor updates, and my first device with always listenIng google assistant. I think it also did all the native language processing. Easily one of my favorite phones I ever had. Why is this not more of a thing?
Love that you took time to test both watches and gave a straightforward comparison. The hybrid chip system in OnePlus Watch is an interesting take, and despite its quirks, it seems to deliver on battery life.
What i learn from one plus is that apple and samsung overprice their tech. Very soon im looking forward to getting the one plus 12 and the watch. Cant wait. Love all of your content bro!! Definitely my favorite! Just a request, would love to see more car/truck content.
You're usually pretty thorough when it comes to technology out there. So I have to say I'm shocked that you didn't mention the GARMIN. I've had mine for 5 years and still to this day, it takes me about two almost three weeks to have to recharge my battery, and I use it for biking, yoga, walking and swimming daily.
Gran vídeo. Te doy las gracias por no hacerlo exclusivamente del “Thank you” de mis amados Duran Duran, un disco que jamás debería haber visto la luz 😂.
I am not a smartwatch power user really, but 4 days are still bad for me. I have $240 Amazfit GTR 4 and I can get on 2 weeks! And I am using them a lot, heart rate, blood oxygen, stress, sleep, workout almost every day... How do you guys live with a watch you have to charge every other day? :D
Not sure where you're getting these numbers from. I had an apple watch ultra it would never last more than 2 or 2 and a half days and I literally did nothing on it and always on display was off.
I still think that £50, 10 day battery life smart watches are the optimal choice. It does the core jobs of a smart watch (showing me notifications, tracking activity and controlling the music on my phone).
I have a Huawei band 6 and till now it's just amazing. Was around a 100$. It does everything i need which is basically alarms, timers, notifications, workouts, pedometer, music control, find my phone feature (life saving for me) , and even a flashlight that helped me a lot. Dirt cheap band replacements when needed and almost a week of battery life. Cannot ask for more.
Why is everyone sleeping on the Huawei watch GT series. It does everything this watch does and has almost 10 day battery life. My 3 year old watch still lasts 7 days with every constant monitoring option turned on.
You should check Ticwatch Pro 5 with two displays... Up to 8 days in real life. And with quick charge - if you are going to charge them during brushing your teeth it will always be around 90%. A lot of other cool features(like changing color of backlight according to your heartrate during exercises)
For a moment I thought you were going to say all the processing was done on the connected phone and the watch was a just a screen outputting stuff... that would be stupid wouldn't it?
I think the Delay would be the big problem. A Signal to the phone and Signal back would take way too Long
Yes, that would drain your phone and watch batteries having to constantly stream video between them, not to mention the delay
Exactly my first thought 😂

"Which one" 😂
What's the reference??
i have a Garmin Fenix 6X Solar Titanium, battery lasts for about 25 days. Transflexive display is the key for it, most of the time i don't need any internal watch light to read it.
Does it have WearOS? Guess not
@@Fredd00007 do you need all the WearOS features though? It has Music, GPS, probably better support for Maps and Health Tracking than most other watches since Garmin has the knowhow of those. I'd love to see a brand of open, non-watchOS smartwatches that also look good and work really well. Transflexive displays would be super nice too. Sadly, people always think they need a high res OLED and a whole ass Android running on their smartwatches....
Currently, there's only Garmin in the higher end and PineTime (*OSS*) on the lower end for consumer-level watches that are open and customisable, and I'd love to see more options.
@@Fredd00007 yea and that watch is like 800 dollars. this watch can get to 14 days if you really need it when you disable wearos stuff
Nice watch, but $950
Garmin doesn't use WearOS. They have their own, much more efficient OS.
Whats the benefit of using WearOS?
Andrew my man with the self burn at 7:03 with Carry the one 😂😂
I'm so happy that he's embraced the meme.
How accurate are the metrics - the quantified scientists checks these out, Marques is too busy. Love the channel MKQBD
yep, mkbhd is *useless* for that kind of thing. Until we know how it matches up against the others using some semblance of scientific measurement buying it is potentially a huge waste of money if you care about health metrics.
Your reviews are hands down my favorites
appreciated the "carry the one" reference in that text from andrew lol

Yes, 2 years late @@Dale.mills.
Okay but imagine now they do this too, dual chips, dual OSes, AND dual screens. Might get even longer battery life.
Its architecture is super interesting as we just got passed multiprocessor systems in college and it always felt like something that you'd almost never see in practice. Guess not
I love how we are chatting about the battery life of these watches and shocked by 4 days, I am sitting over here with my Garmin (AMOLED touch screen display) and I get 16 days of battery.
not really an apples for apples comparison though is it
They're the best in the game in that regard, with the tradeoff of size and bulkiness. I couldn't wear something that big every day
Which Garmin watch? The hybrid one?
And Garmin isnt a true smart watch.
I’m here with my Casio. 10 years battery life
I use the Huawei Watch gt3 pro with a 790mAh battery (not the last model, not same fonctionnalities...). It last 4-5 days with all the monitorings, always on display, and can keep up to 12-14 days with all off.
don't forget that this watch can withstand up to 5 ATM. It's perfect for freediving.
My only negatives for this watch are:
- does not play nice with Samsung security -- had to uninstall my work email on my phone
- workout tracking doesn't count individual reps
Otherwise it's great.
I have Huawei Watch 3. With battery saving mode that still tracks everything, it lasts full 3 weeks.
And its a gorgeous watch
Just checked it out, and it's looks ugly AF...
The huawei and honor watches last for 2 weeks but the apps are very limited and no wear OS
@@krazysk yea this one will too if you disable all the wear os stuff
hybrid system coming to phones would be very interesting. imagine that battery life from your phone because of a hybrid system
I’m sure they can fix the notification delay with a very simple software update

Pretty awesome. Unfortunately when it comes down to it, checking notifications is probably what you do the most and that 2 second delay is gonna add up and get real annoying. Maybe they can improve the switch speed with software.
And that's a deal breaker ? That 2 secs that they will be able to fix with software patches ??

My Ticwatch 3 Pro GPS has been getting this much battery life for four years, thanks to smart and slick translucent LCD display. Massively underrated considering the competition has only just caught up.
TicWatch also have dual processor which is the cause of the WearOS 3 delayed.
But for everything else to watch is shit, so don't think the competition is behind
You mentioned the battery life was when using 'Smart Mode' - does this mean there's a 'use more power mode' that might make notifications appear more quickly at the expense of shorter battery life?

Well I still dont see reason to upgrade from Watch 4.

Low fps footage, yeah. 8:42
You forgot to mention Ticwatch Pro. I have the Pro 3 GPS and love it.
I was looking for this! Why is everyone forgetting about ticwatch? I love not worrying about battery but also having wear os features
You sounded so IMPRESSED with 37,5h of Apple watch.
Hahahahaha
Such a apple sheep
In my experience, Garmin has been the battery king in the smart watch realm.
This is all of the facts. My Garmin Venu2 plus goes around 9 - 13 days between charges
Wear OS use more power than what Garmin's OS does. Different features too.
@@N3v3r_S3ttl3 I'm not saying this isn't the case, I'm just curious what the features are. A lot of my Apple snob friends will talk about how I'm not getting all the benefit they are with my Garmin. But I get sleep tracking, heart rate, Pulse OS, all my notifcations, phone calls, payment system... what are all of the other watches providing that this doesn't that makes them burn through battery 10 times as fast?
ugh everyone says this but i just don't care at all. the smartwatch crowd won't be tempted by an expensive fitness watch because that's not what we want at all.
Too bad the company has a reputation for absolutely abysmal after-sale support. Not that oneplus doesn't have issues in that department too, but mobvoi makes oneplus look like apple in comparison
mobvoi can't even push regular updates.

OK now this one is intriguing me. If that notification slowdown could get fixed via software then it's instant A+
This watch should be put up against the Huawei Watch GT4 which has a longer battery life and is compatible with Android and iOS as well as HarmonyOS.
Yeah I get 2 weeks battery on my GT4, it's awesome
Exactly. I never understood what are these manufacturers doing to not achieve 14 days battery life, as I had with several huawei gt watches last few years. And I am not missing any feature... So?
I was thinking the same thing, it looks like gt4 with buttons and shape. My gt4 can do two weeks of battery easy.
gt4 is not a wear os watch. it is similar to opw2's power saver mode
I don't think first 2 know what they are talking about, on that note I had 3 amazfit whatches all with 2 weeks battery life, but that is a tracker with notifications for which 90% of people is good enough
Your review just sold me on this watch. I've been a One+ user since day one and am in the market for smart watch to replace my fitbit.
I'd love to watch you reviewing the Oura Ring, I'm curious if that makes sense over buying a smart watch since I don't want to get more notifications and more tech on my body but I'd like to get the benefits of tracking my health data.
If you could get ahold of Huawei's Watch GT 4, it's got about 2 weeks of battery life. My daily driver, absolutely awesome. No Watch OS features tho
Its my daily driver as well, the battery life is crazy
I have the GT2. I can't even imagine how people can live with charging their watch everyday.
Same... I have since 2020 a Huawei watch, I can't imagine using a 24h watch
Daily driver as well. And people have always asked me what watch I am wearing, because it is always a looker.
Because it's Huawei who totally don't send their data to China, nope.
That's more comparable to Amazfit and Garmin watches. Not a full-fledged smartwatch OS.
I have Huawei gt2 pro and it is around 17 days with screen off
Ihave the Amazfit T-rex2 for over a year now. It does not have the option for answering calls or replying messages. But I got over 7 days with all options on. And if I turn off always on display and th option to show the notification when I turn my hand I can reach to 20 days without charging. And it is tracking my workout, my sleep. Breathing and also heart rate.
I'm glad you're enjoying it and happy with your purchase, but it's not really comparable.
I think you should include whether or not devices support alternative apps for connecting.
Not everyone wants their minute to minute vitals, location, etc. all being sent to the cloud.
Even if it's not common, it'd be good for keeping that in the minds of consumers and companies that we are looking for that option.
I'd be curious to see the ticwatch pro in comparison to this.
But where is Garmin?
Same thing I said!!!
Like wtf?! Garmin is so underrated icl. Lmaooo
I think Garmin, Coros, Sunto, Polar are more fitness trackers than smartwatches
Why you didn't compere it to garmin venu 3 for battery life.
I paid $249 for my Garmin Vivoactive 5 and it lasts a week or more. Garmin is king of GPS accuracy and it's tough to beat Garmin Connect.
Just got my hoodie yesterday, shipping was kinda slow but quality of hoodie is amazing. Love it!
My Huawei GT 2 's battery lasts for 14 days!! No joke!
can the bands be replaced? like say, with a cuff band?
Yes. Used standard 22mm bands. 👍
@@BrandonGiesingWell, yes. But I just need the basics and notifcations on the watch. I leave the rest to my mobile... works for me.
@@VR_JPN
@@BrandonGiesing I'm sorry but you're wrong. it is a smartwatch. just a cheap one
Hey Marques, what’s your Watch band ? 3:34 I’m loving the colors
Would love to know
The galaxy watch 6 44mm also lasts 3-4 days if you turn off AOD and raise to wake. And it doesn't need special chips or any separate OS to achieve it
Do you use it enough to drain the battery?
Cause even the battery is smaller in the list that he is showing so there must be some difference
Nothing changed proportions are still the same
This might just be me or were there some clips in this video with low framerate?
Right got one. It was probably slowed down.
They claim 100 hours but then that’s only with Always On disabled. If Apple had done that people would all be bashing them, how does OnePlus get away with this??
because price
I saw that they have a section on the product page that goes into details on battery live as well and explains it surpsingly well. They give different use scenarios and how long it lasts for them.
Because their CEO is not a gay like Apples. I personally don’t want to be bummed by Tim Cook like you.

You're usually pretty thorough when it comes to technology out there. So I have to say I'm shocked that you didn't mention the GARMIN. But does it allow you to play music directly on the watch offline? Looking for a watch that does that without needing youtube or spotify.

It does everything i need which is basically alarms, timers, notifications, workouts, pedometer, music control, find my phone feature (life saving for me) , and even a flashlight that helped me a lot. Dirt cheap band replacements when needed and almost a week of battery life. Cannot ask for more.
@@Ososmd I was able to get the Band 7 for £40 ($50) in 2022.
