Uri, this piece is absolutely divine. I love the way your mind works and the things you create are beautiful while being functional with a touch of witty humour. Keep it up sir!
I just started watching you recently. I had no idea you have been posting for 5 years! Thanks! I now have a great source for my binge-watching time. Now I just need to create some of that "time."!
Genius! You are the Renaissance man of making builds interesting and aesthetically beautiful. It’s criminal that you have not got more subscribers - something needs to be done about that!
Das ist das beste Teil bisher Unglaublich wie viel Tiefe durch das bisschen gravieren entsteht Du bist noch mehr Künstler als Maker und viel mehr Maker als die meisten.
I don't know what I like more, your craftsmanship, your video making, or your weird (German?) sense of humor lol. Anyway I really enjoy your content thanks for everything
This guy is the most talented person iv ever seen. He has the idea then builds it in detail on levels that match the goat. Then does it with precision. He's a master on many levels
I am so happy to see the treadle scroll saw still in use, and with the addition of a buffing wheel! This piece is just beautiful! I'm sure Michelangelo would be proud :)
Great job. I love the classical nature / tone of your videos. And this was by far the best editing job and music sync I've seen in a long time. I wish there were more videos but I'm fine with watching earlier ones over again. It's great to end my day with a smile and that's what I get from your efforts. Cheers and thanks mate.
I can't say if that indicator is sacrilege or divine (I am leaning towards "Divine!"), but I can imagine God himself getting a chuckle at it. It is a beautiful work of art, and a phenomenal piece of workmanship. You sir, are a many of many talents, and I for one am humbled to have the opportunity to see them!
I'm so happy that your channel has grown and you've been able to collaborate with other creative channels. I hope you continue to gain viewership and meet people, because your content is so interesting, entertaining, and beautiful. Thank you so much for continuing to share your processes, ideas, mistakes, and triumphs with us!
Dude, I've been a sub and fan of yours for ages. You do amazing and inspiring work. I do a lot of wood carving and i see your work, and I'm envious. I wish one day i could be as good as you at engaging and your precise measurements. I love your channel, please keep being awesome and making these "odd" videos about these kinds of tools and stuff. Your personality is so positive, it cheers up my day and inspires me to make things. :)
That is the greatest test indicator I have ever seen. On a side note, I love the shot with the (foot-cranked?) buffing wheel, which is awesome, only to top it off with a cat! I mean, cats are awesome, and not even foot powered! Thanks for sharing, Uri!
Lol I don't know what you created but it is awesome. Absolutely love seeing you take nothing but materials and turn it into something special. I am an engraver myself but it is engraving by a machine. I took it one step further and I am able to take a picture and copy that picture over into metal. It's so cool though the way you do your type of Engraving.
*blinking dryly* yes. That is what an test indicator is used for. Or comparing to gauge blocks. Exclusively. Even the thousand dollar test indicators from Sweden. They are useless without something to compare, or test against... Hence the name..... Feeling like there is a r/woosh moment here... and its me that got wooshed.
@@jimandaubz not really a r/woosh moment, I was just pointing out the fact that even if it isn't the most precise instrument it would still do a pretty dang good job of those kind of measurements. I'm mostly just impressed that he was able to make it work as well as it did, not that I'm surprised he did though.
@@bexpi7100 ah. You mentioned lathes, so I wasn't sure if you had used a test indicator before. But, all test indicators, even the modern dial test indicators work just like his, and only as accurate as his as well. And they are exactly used for aligning and centering tools and parts in machining. So I was a bit taken back by your commit. Well, good eye! You inferred the exact proper use of the tool! I have worked with grey-bearded "machinist" with 30 years in the field whom never realized the pros and cons of the test indicator as well as you did. 👍
@@jimandaubz Well not quite since the good one's have jeweled very low friction movements. My Mitutoyo's will do 10ths and I have an old American Machinist book written in 1910 showing a shop made DTI with a high rate of amplification that will do about 60-70% better than my modern one's. However dti's are mostly a null setting tool where as you said your pre setting them against a known reference surface and trying for minimal runout or part deviation. They "indicate" somethings out reliably and to quite close limits.
@@turningpoint6643 i get what your saying, and agree, but I must disagree. Only in that it appears your getting into nitty gritty and fully technical where as I am speaking in the core mechanism, they all are just a lever amplified. Well, before the gears anyway 😁. Those mito and brown and sharps are fantastically silky though, no doubt, but I prefer the simple screw mechanism, only because of the reliability of them. I had a .0001 mito that ended up with a cracked jewel, after a week of allowing bad parts to leave the shop (going into airplanes no less😵😵😵😵) I did my weekly calibration, it appeared to move smoothly, but it was able to skip some gear teeth randomly. Needless to say, I have preferred the simplest mech possible I am now a low tech inspector 😅.
This is another mysterious work with a dream. Where do these ideas come from? A cute cat also appeared and tasted a very satisfying time. Thank you very much.

I'm currently experimenting with plating/marking and etching copper. I found using a doorbell transformer (AC) you can mark with black. Using a charger and using DC with - in the water, + on object you can etch (using a resist, nail polish, vinyl-sticker etc). With DC + in the water and - on object you can plate using the +material as source. Hope to share some results soon, my first tests have been great! Thank you for sharing your video's. I enjoy your humor and passion!
I just love the imagery of Michelangelo's god indicating with his foot, it just puts a smile on my face whenever I think about it. I just love your whimsy...
As usual you do not disappoint! You are amazing and your talents know no bounds. Besides being informative and practical your artistic expression is absolutely wonderful!!!!
Beautiful. Loved this. I used test indicators every day as a tool & die maker, but I never imagined them as the hand of God. Lol. Well done! Very creative. Liked & subscribed.
If you look at 15:20 and on, you can see the "angle" bouncing around also, which also affects the accuracy. Overall - A VERY Nice project. You "might" have to sand the spring a little more to make it less strong to prevent tension movement. However, it is a great little project.
That gold platinum technique used to be a popular side business back in the 90s, people would go around to car dealerships and apply gold plating to cars on the lot to increase their perceived value. Even now you see lots of old cars with faded worn off gold badges that weren't a factory option.
Awesome video as always. Loved this line:
"You're probably wondering about the lab coat. Well, I used to be a gardener."
I didn't wear the coat... I also wasn't a gardener. 😂😂🤣
That and the cat watching him buff were the best parts!
"And now .... well the more you know ..." xD
Imagine what kind of garden he made
Imagine what kind of garden he DIDN'T make!
Loved the Ride of the Valkyries :) Very Monty Python/Terry Gilliam.
That's exactly what I was going to say!! It made me lol for reals..
Isn't it "Flight"? Maybe I'm wrong..

Glorious.
Thank you!
At 10:05, cat is like "I do not approve of this, nor do I care enough to take any action..."
It takes a great deal of disapproval to make a cat get off the radiator.
You have, without question, created THE COOLEST test indicator ever!! Wherever you go to get your ideas, keep going!!
It's absolutely sickening how skillful you are in so many disciplines.
From 14:45 to 15:50 might just be the single greatest sequence ever committed to film.
"It should be fairly safe, but it's not amazingly safe."
Perfect.
Ah! The high dose of sheer excellence and humour I've very much come to enjoy from your videos, Uri. Truly, you rank among the very best, I'd say.
I love the way you make a fancy pants gold plated Michelangelo test indicator but you like the unbranded plain labelled polish!
