My husband and I enjoy camping more in fall and winter because we can bear cold more than we can heat and where we live temps in summer can reach 110 F. Too hot. I love rain on the tent. Sound is soothing.
Grab some aluminium cooking foil and use that as a kind of mat for all your cooking stuff to keep it all from getting mucky. Its cheap and does the trick. Fold it up a few times so it has more strength and rigidity.
I love ghost stories and horror stuff as it seems to scare many from going into the woods in the dark so its more peaceful and quite for the likes of us ha ha.
Love the winter camping.the nice frosty morning .me and my son was out Saturday night i the bad rain.we sat under our 5x5 tarp from DD .cooking our dinner love the sound ff the rain on the tarp and the tent
Good vid, ill be out in the Bobcat in the Irish mountains come weekend. Top tip for rain in a hammock, tie a shoelace to the straps and let it dangle down, it acts as a drip string, also, in the army (jungle) we used to put a blob of jam on the shoelace and the bugs get attracted to it and stop bothering you 👍
Wow you really looked after yourself on this camp.... that salmon was for for a King! To be fair salmon is up there with a good steak!. Top job... all the time the sound of the rain coming down ! Doesn't get any better. I'm surprised you have so many flies around there still. I live on Ontario Canada, and the mosquitos are gone by time 2nd week in September rolls around.
Camping in the rain at anytime is great Dan. Well set up for the conditions with your tarp mate. Try putting your fish on foil n add the oil or butter herbs n onion etc little salt n pepper to taste then wrap it up and cook it skinside down for about 12 minutes. It'll steam itself inside the foil and is great to eat. Happy just to see your vlogs as they are no worries about content Dan they're real as is. Bushyboy Oz.
Camping in the rain is great as long as you have the right kit. However camping in the rain in the fall or winter is different than the summer. In the summer if you get wet it’s not the end of the world as you can probably get dry pretty quick but in the fall and winter it could be dangerous especially if you can’t get a fire going. Being prepared is always the key. Thanks for sharing. Take care and stay safe.
@@englishwoodsman Not where we are (Antibes between Cannes & Nice). We had rain back in June & then that was it until about late September. A couple of small storms and since then it has rained maybe 4 times for about an hour & that's it. Pity because I've gotten a tarp & am waiting impatiently for rain so I can set it up & enjoy that sound
Another great video. My kids laugh at me when I say hype sound of rain on a tarp or the sound of a tent zip, are some of my favourite sounds. Glad it’s not just me. Great work sticking it out
Another great vid thanks for sharing. I like hammocking in rain, great to hear it on the tarp and look out from under the tarp. When weathers bad I always take a small cheap tarp about 6 foot by 4 foot I think it is, I can put all my gear on that then saving it getting mucky. I put it under the hammock sticking more out on the side of the hammock I get out if that makes sense.
Love hearing the sound of rain on a tarp or tent,in the night when you are nice and warm in your bag so soooooooothing. Keep these vids coming.🏕🏴😀
The only time i went wild camping was a year ago in south Australia for only one night. It was raining with possums around screaming! My first experience but i loved it! I love your videos!
Just watched 👍🏽🌧👍🏽skin down first on fish get it nice and crispy , long dark nights coming in now pal keep them coming and yeah you need a ground sheet
I love my Onewind Double wide hammock and underquilt. I have 6-7 tarps including a couple from DD. I will ordering a Onewind tarp soon though. Awesome vid and gear review!!
Thanks Dan for your dedication to the art of English Autumn camping😂 you have my upmost respect, especially doing it in these atrocious weather conditions 👍 Nice set up as usual and looking at the size of the mozzies it was a good job you had the bug net with you! As for the colour of the hammock you can’t see it with your eyes closed! Stay safe and look forward to the next video, regards Clive from deepest Dorset
Fantastic video 👍 Loved the equipment description, the weather and the food. I’ve only been camping once and I hated it so now I live vicariously thru you and still get to enjoy camping without getting wet 😆 and yes I prefer watching winter camping 🏕 ❄️
I defo enjoy winter to summer camping , it puts your gear to the test , yes daylight is shorter but no fly's etc. Lol if your gear is good you will be good , its good to be cozy and warm listen to the wind and rain , down side is packing up to move on i hate the braking up of camp ;-)
As far as I'm concerned theres no wrong way to cook fish except to over cook it. Your way looked good too glad you enjoyed it. It's hard to get anything done in the dark and the rain but I'm not sure I could spend 13 hrs in my hammock unfortunately lol
That looks amazing mate really I need to go camping again, I normally cook the skin side of the fish down first with butter pepper salt and lemon , really good nate
I do the same with the bags etc in my under blanket, another good tip is if you have a down jacket with you put that in too for a bit of extra insulation, keep up the good work bud, atb Paul 👌👍
I love hammock/tarp camping in cooler/cold weather such as fall and early spring. I actually like colder/inclement weather hammock camping more than summertime hammock camping. Don't get me wrong, I love summertime hammock camping. I think it's about the more intense coccoon effect one feels when its cold and/or raining and you're under tarp inside your hammock!
I don't mind winter camps, as you say the sound of rain on the tend is very relaxing. What I don't enjoy is waking up on cold mornings with amount of condensation you get in winter, that cold damp feeling can be grim.
Bloody hell Dan that salmon was bigger than my head 😁 only a 5 out of 10 on the sizzle scale this week tho 😬 well done mate for being out in this weather we're having.

Like the green hammock as it is cheerful.
I absolutely love the sound of the rain hitting the tarp. I sleep every night with a rain video. Enjoyed the video. Stay blessed.
Looks nice that salmon😋i cook skin side down first to get it nice and crispy plus its easier to flip👍
Brilliant video
I plan my trips around the rainy season. Love the rain
I camp to get away from the daily life and relax, nothing is more relaxing than the sound of rain. Cool videos.

That salmon and onions looked more appetising than havin it brought to you on a plate in a restaurant... Great video considering the weather.
I like your camping trip.
Great night outdoors buddy. Your right no better sound than the rain hitting tent or tarp.👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻⛺⛺
Nice video thanks EWM👍

You can also cut out the bottom of a biscuit tin. Bit more durable but very light
Good choice for dinner I love salmon looks a delicious meal ahead 🤪🤪
Great video as usual

Best camp ever i had hot sun, heavy rain then snow over a 4 day camp out. Brilliant .
Heavy rain is the time to test out your gear locally. Setting up and packing up.
I’m not a fan of fish but that looked lovely👌

You don't realise how lucky you are to be able to hear that sound of rain hitting your tarp. Here in the south of France, it hardly rains at all
I thought France gets bad winter weather mate??

A glass of white wine would have complimented that salmon very well 👌 atb Taff 🤠

I can’t leave my tent door open ever incase the beasties get in when I’m not looking 😂 I wish I wasn’t scared of spiders lol
Try cooking the salmon with a little bit of golden syrup and soy sauce.as a marinade. Always skin side down first, With rice.
Hi George I will give that a go next time thankyou for watching and taking the time to comment
Salmon eh ? that beats a Pot Google or boil in the bag, I,m impressed.😉
I’m definitely a fair weather camper.
Hi Dan put some baby waps in your bag at all times.👍
Salmon for grub, getting posh now mate! Looked real nice with the seasoning and lemon

I prefer the summer to be honest. In the winter I dont mind the rain overnight, it does sound nice on the tarp but I hate getting wet on the walk in.
