This is why track inspections should be checked to prevent something like this, a road trip on the tracks to give an idea on what condition s these tracks are in In vary parts in the US where you have roads and back roads where railroad tracks have not been checked or inspected For age of steel rails, ties, ties that rotted out due mud, poor water drainage, missing plates, plates that joins track together , missing parts, rail condition which can actually a train to derail. Due to negligence, not being aware at the network and there should be a detector to let Class 1, Class 2 and stort lines if there's a problem with track condition that needs attention. Especially so the ba railroad tracks on the back roads.
Dickson city, PA near the Eagle Lane crossing, right next to the police station. The police surveillance camera caught the derailment as it happened. I think there's a video of it here on RUclips somewhere. I know they showed it on the local news WNEP 16. The red and white building you see in the background is the Dickson City fire station.
I was the engineer on that derailment. The most expensive of my 42 year career!
