    Congrats to your bro. Are there Officer Mounties as well or they’re all enlisted who go through the Depot Academy?

    • @mouthbreather280
      @mouthbreather280 4 года назад +1

      It’s not like the military, there’s no “enlisted” and “officers”. Just ranks starting a constable, corporal, Sargent, staff Sargent, staff Sargent major, inspector, ect...

    • @1anre
      @1anre 4 года назад

      plopnow That’s good to know, but in other countries including the US, University Graduates who want to become police Officers go to a Formal Police Academy/College & graduate above the Inspector rank & begin from Assistant Superintendent etc.. that was what I wanted to find out about the Mountie career path, or does everybody begin right from the very bottom and are made to rise through the ranks as their career goes on?

    • @mouthbreather280
      @mouthbreather280 4 года назад +3

      Lanre Oladejo No, even in the US you start at the lowest rank which may be deputy, constable, or just “officer”. Also I should add that ranks work differently from department to department, agency to agency, and between countries as well. They are not equivalent. You can check the specific agency website for rank information. Also LE is considered para military in the sense it is structured in an organized hierarchy rank system such as the military is. I understand that the route to becoming a LEO in the US varies depending on agency and area. Some departments put you through a course at some sort of college that will have a section intended for law enforcement training and other larger agencies have their own boot camps set up that they run exclusively for their agency. Such departments include LAPD, NYPD, Miami-dade ect.. (large agencies). Smaller agencies will likely put you through some type of police college. The RCMP in Canada is the federal police force sort of equivalent to what is considered the FBI of the US. There are other law enforcement agencies other than the RCMP in Canada at the municipal and provincial level which are separate entities from the RCMP. Cities can opt to form their own police force or to have policing done through the RCMP. Some areas in Canada have regional police services, some province wide police are set up, some have a municipal force and some use the RCMP. This will depend on where you live. The RCMP requires recruits to go through training at their academy called “Depot”. At Depot you do not have the opportunity to attend a college type environment where you can go home at the end of the day. You live, sleep, eat there for the duration of the 6 months of intense training. It is very regimental like military training and there are drill instructors which will yell, scream and force you to do things same as if you were joining the army. This 6 month day in and day out training is very specifically administered, meant to form and shape your very character from within to create the iconic Canadian “Mountie” persona. This is unique to the RCMP. In municipal police organizations you will be sent to some sort of college type academy to train along side recruits from various departments, and you all will graduate together. Provincial forces have their own academies set up. When and if you get through you start at the lowest rank and work your way up as the years progress.

    • @1anre
      @1anre 4 года назад

      plopnow thanks a whole bunch for the break down of how the Police Force is kinda setup in Canada. Different structure applies in different countries then. I guess the ERT of the RCMP isn’t municipal and falls under the Federal RCMP system directly?

    • @mouthbreather280
      @mouthbreather280 4 года назад +2

      Lanre Oladejo The ERT or Emergency Response Team of the RCMP is what in the US they call a “SWAT” team. It serves the same function here. Cities with their own municipal force can opt to form their own tactical team or they can have their tactical requirements provided through the RCMP via an ERT team. Otherwise an area under RCMP jurisdiction will have its own ERT. Other areas with a larger population will have more larger regional team such as the Lower Mainland District Emergency Response Team or LMD ERT in southern British Columbia. They have to serve a large area worth of residents. The only department in the lower mainland that does not use the ERT is the Vancouver Police Department which has its own tactical team. Also the federal division of the RCMP (Ottawa) has an ERT team as well. But there are teams spread out through the whole country and they belong to and are responsible for which ever division they serve in. Example E division is BC, K division is Alberta, F division Saskatchewan ect..

    *The 'Techno-Pop anime music?' trivializes everything into a fucking CARTOON of what is a solemn Ceremony*
    *It's disgusting to disrespect what is a dangerous public service career into something trivial like "making cartoons to amuse
    idiot viewers of RUclips' as being 'co-equal in value' to being a member of the 'RCMP', the World's most respected and trusted
    Law Enforcement Officers*

    Respect to your brother and huge respect to all officers in the RCMP but I have no idea why anyone would join this organization anymore. If you can get into depot without ever meeting anyone (aside from a third party polygraph examiner) and not even be asked why you want to bean officer I think it is pretty obvious the organization is messed up. Not even mentioning the forced unpaid overtime, the straight 12 hour shifts (in most cases) that yearly add up to way more than a 40 hour work week with no overtime, and jerking you around on where you will be placed when they claim that you can now come back to BC or Alberta. I have known many people that have went to depot a left after experiencing all this and more. I cant help thinking more and more cities will have their own forces in the future.

    Nice I hope he doesn’t become a corrupt RCMP it’s hard but we citizens can hope because there are far to many corrupt RCMP on our streets.

      Just how many "corrupt" officers do you think there are? How do you know this? In what way are they corrupt? I think you need to be a little more skeptical of the things that you read and hear. Use your own common sense and critical thinking skills.
