@itstopcatbitch well in sudan its called different name Rabaab , but in cushitic Somalia a.k.a ancient Punt we call this Kemetic-SOMALi instrument Gantaal and Sharero
Thank you for sharing this wonderful music! Could you please add to the video description above which language/culture/ethnic group this musician is from, where in Somalia it was filmed, and his name if you know it?
dbadagna: I hope you already find out about these musician. It has been three years. They are Somali musicians mainly from southern Somalia surrounding Mogadishu area, and Afgooye region just about 30 minutes drive from Mogadishu. When Somalia had peace, people enjoyed these musicians to the hilt to the point that they don't sleep if they played at night in weekends. They called Hurdo Diid means "sleep depriver" because it is so good, it deprived them from sleeping! The belly dancing is called Kabeebey. the guy with blue instrument and guy next to him with the green shirt are poets. He saying around 2:50 something to the effect like a" WAISTBEADS, AND A FAKE LOVE BREAKS! They giving praises to where different tribes live in their songs. I believe they filmed in Mogadishu. Somalis of other regions have different dances too depending on the region.
walaalo you can only find this Somalian traditiona cushite instrument in the place where the original Somalis originated the fullblooded somalis, and that is PUntland-region of Somalia and also southern-Somalia, but mainly in southern-Somalia you can find this instrument called Gantal and Sharero, its for traditional Somalis that enjoy the instruments of their kemetian ancestors and puntie ancestors so yeh its mainly found in southern-Somalia near Somalia's capital city = Mogadishu..

@Fkkoff and last but not least the Sudanese tribe ur talking about is eastern-sudanese, they are called beja's and they are ethnbically northern-kushites, also linguistically northern-kushites, and the Somali which is my tribe, are eastern-Kushites, since we live in the east-african SoMali coast.. not near yemen, like u eritrean Habesha's= habeshas are yemenite Sabeans, thats why yall are lightskinned and jewish lookalikes, compared to Somali's like me and those Somali's u see on this video.

@Fkkoff well know this mr smart-wannabe-kid... everybody knows theres no such thing as a tribe called eritrean or watever, what you mean to say but choose not to say, in order to hide ur agenda, is that this instrument/lyr traditional Kushitic harp is native to the Somali, because Somalia is the name of the Somali tribe, unlike eritrea, that got different ethnicities like Semitic=mulatoes, kushitic=beja's and nilotic=kunama... u dont think i know that, dude this is 2011 people aint dumb
This Instrument is from Eastern sudan/Western Eritrea,,,east sudan is Eritrean land given to sudan by brittish so its fair to call it a ERitrean instrument...to call it "strictly South-Somalian hawiye Music, and tradition" is wishfull thinkin...lol stop claim things that aint urs...like enjera

You don't tell Somali People whether they should build their country or not, that is their own business, you are in no place to poke you nose.
