The OBDII plug had a connector to wires that run up behind the dashboard. I didn't follow it beyond the connector because it solved my issue when I made sure the connection was tight. I'll see if I can tell where it goes. Have you checked the key program ? It has a limit of 10 keys that can be programmed and once they are maxed out, you need a key/locksmith to reprogram it. Maybe the blue connector was for flashers? Mine had front and rear strobes.
Have a 2003 ford ranger we need to run but you turn the key and it does nothing! The anti theft clicks and blinks and the dash lights up but that’s it. New battery, new starter, not the ignition switch and new neutral switch.. help!
This one needed to reprogram the key. I called a mobile locksmith and he reset the key and computer. I don't remember exactly what he did but I think it had maxed out the number of duplicate keys. Usually a dealer has to do it but some locksmiths have the means to reprogram it.
Disconnected the plug, blew out the debris, checked the prongs, removed minor corrosion, slightly bent the prongs to tighten up the contact points, re-connected and put a zip tie to hold it. It seemed to help because I haven't had any more issues since doing that.
Hmm. Mine randomly misfires. This was the first time this year. Only once last year when we had our first very cold front, below freezing. Check engine light came on then it went away as the weather warmed up. It misfired every time I hit 3K rpms.
Wait until you see what a REBUILT transmission costs....Then you'll see why they dumped it.But,was it going to the scrapyard? With no oil, you had about 3 minutes to needing another engine Who takes the oil and the coolant out? Why? The worst transmission For ever had somebody in France put together.Yeah- France Oooh la-la! Tres bien!
Thank so much i had the same problem. Two days chasing grounds checking relays and it was that simple. Thank you again.
Glad it helped!
My 2096 died on the road and after replacing the fuel pump I tried this and it worked
That's awesome! Thanks for the feedback!!
What is the connector to or was for? We have a similar problem with our ranger and was used as a city/town vehicle and has that same blue connector

I think they just couldn't start it. Why the took out the fluids, I don't know. It seems like a dealer sent it to auction. It runs great now.
