Do you think you have an accent?
I am beyond confused, where is the apparent Maryland accent. I agree with them, I am from Maryland, and I didn't know whether I had an accent or not until I moved to Arkansas and now I wondering if I have one...
A lot of my friends (I'm in MD) said crayon "cray-in"
The thing with Maryland is that it depends on if you grew up in the north or the south really. I sound more like the girl on the left. Less of a drawl and more of a mid west sound. I think both of them represent different places in Maryland really.
"Don't have an accent" this made me laugh.
It's a remolt control
Balmore
Warsh
Warshingtin
Girl in the tye-dye looks like Melissa McCarthy!
Very cute! I'm from MD originally and said 'warsh' but I've lived in VA so long I now say 'wash'
WHAT WE DON'T SAY WARSHINGTON WE SAY WASH
when u go to ocean city on the weekends and ur super excited about it...ur from md:D representtt
You know your from Maryland when there’s crab shops everywhere and sea food shops
Finally an accurate Maryland accent video
LMAO! xD Thanks! I was LOL'ing @ this producer on here that says "I hope you guys liked it" after all of his videos, and his accent sounds sorta like yours! x)
Eastern shore
I grew up in Ellicott City, but lived in Grantsville (Garrett County) for years. I think the girl on the left sounds more like western Maryland, meaning Hagerstown and west. The girl on the right sounds more like suburban Maryland. But now living in VA it's great to hear anything that reminds me of home😊
I'm from Randallstown and some words were accurate
i'm from MD, only ones i agree with is orange and organization.
Ocean City!! :) What area of Maryland are y'all from? I'm from close to DC and I feel like ppl don't really have a strong accent, unless they are from some place else originally.
i am from montgomery county and i only have a slight accent
Im from pg county i started up in my pre teen years with an accent but it faded
EricH138 Man, I was born there but grew up at PG county. Damn. I think I have a Northeastern accent.
I'm from Baltimore County, born and raised. I have a little accent here and there. I have a little northern accent, but I've been told that I have a southern accent as well. Some people in the county have it, but Dundalk is super thick, there's also some in the city as well.
I've lived in Merlin since the sixties
So are they both from Maryland?
In which county do you live ? I will probably be in ocean city in summer time !
No offense I am from baltimore and she got some wrong bit it is still good
I'm from Baltimore too
I'm from mayrland and pronounce aunt differently than they do.
I am a speech therapist and am from Worcester County (no h in there people) home to Ocean City. When I was in college at Towson, the only thing I got “dinged” on was that I said “crown” instead of “cray-on” when I was working with a pre-school child. I was also told (closer to graduation) by a professor that my accent was coming out more ( I said because I was going home and wouldn’t have to cross the bridge again unless I absolutely had to!) I didn’t think these girls had much of an accent. There is definitely a difference between those of us from the shore - especially those closer to VA and people from the Western Shore.
The girl on the left says things the same as my grandfather.
I live in Anne Arundel Co. and we sound nothing like this... (maybe i have more of a virginisn accent)
I live in Havre de Grace, MD and I agree with you. Although my family is European, my great grandparents moved here to the USA.So I have a mixed norwegian-british-marylander accent.
Where, Jessup?
Nope, Maryland City.
Mr.Jay-Morris Ah nearby. And same nearby Laurel. Right be the county line. Seems better than Laurel. Anne Arundel is a whole lot better than PG straight.
What the fuck are they doing here? Crown and crayon????
I am a speech therapist and am from Worcester County (no h in there people) where Ocean City is. When I was in school at Towson, the only thing I got “dinged” on was that I said “crown” instead of “cray-on” when I was working with a pre-school child. I didn’t think these girls had much of an accent. There is definitely a difference between those of us from the shore - especially those closer to VA and people from the Western Shore.
I’ve been told I have a southern accent. When I go out of Bmore I’m asked a lot if I’m from the south & I think a lot has to do with my use of sir’ & ma’am. Yea it’s called manners. Some of y’all could use em’.
I’m from middle river, Essex. But I’m known to travel all thru. MD.
You obviouslyyyyy dont know Maryland then! A lot of people say warsh. It just depends on where you're from. And people say "Warshington DC" too.
Just because we have city's in md doesn't me we are all from them I say warsh just could I do it ain't fake twang just how every one talks wherein from in southern Maryland
Yea but i guess the "proper" accent u cant really tell but the urban accents you def can tell like if i hear a white person from baltimore talk i might think theyre from up north or something but you hear a black or white kid from the urban part of the city you know they are from baltimore without asking..also all of md doesnt have the same accent md people in pg and moco waldorf ect sound more like dc accent and people from further north maryland have closer to a baltimore accent
You guys kind of sound like you're from Croom area.
i live in maryland
Sibel Enver Its more like a wanna be city from where i stay
most word aren't said like that
Their white
What's the challenge, getting through the whole video?
You you have a Southern accent and you're from Maryland, then that's odd as shit.
***** a lot of marylanders, including myself, half a Southern accent :)
Veronika Owens You from Southern Maryland? I live by DC (Basically Central Maryland).
I live outside of dc about 20 minutes away
+BmorePatriot Not at all. Maybe study your geography some time. Maryland is right next to Virginia and W. Virginia- Very often southern accents can be found in those states.
Most Marylanders don't have a southern accent because more than 50% of the kids/ here aren't from maryland or their roots aren't from Maryland. Not many people can say they been here for generations. Dc, Hopkins, construction, business keeps steady stream of new people.
Gotta love ocean shitty :)
I grew up in Western Maryland, and had to train myself NOT to say "warsh", so yeah, it is said. Sorry Xenore.
And roooof instead of ruf and creeek instead of crik and the use of yous and yous’all is frowned upon in other states apparently 🤷🏼♀️🤣...Garrett county raised!
I'm a marylander, (who loves the confederates), do we in Anne Arundel County have southern accents or is it a mix, 'cause I here it a lot among many elders/adults and I hear a mix southern mix northern accents among kids, I live right on the Severn-Glen Burnie border, with a lot of rural influences. what do you think?
I think it's the rural influence. Columbia/Ellicott City area, we are like people in Millionare houses next to large farms. SOOOOO.....
What's warsh?!
APPARENTLY people say that in Maryland we say "Warsh" not "Wash" IDK I live in Maryland we always say wash. The only exception is Western Maryland, I remember my History teacher grew up there and kept saying "Warshingtion" and we were like STOP IT!
my own home state's accent makes me cringe. maryland problems.
girl on the left would have said half of them the same if she didn't hear the other girl and just wanted to be different. RUclips should remove this video
The girl on the left is so annoying
no one anywhere is maryland says warsh. you don't even know how to say words, saLmon? you guys should be ashamed and move out of my state. by the way, 30 rock shows you the ONLY maryland accent.
