Looks like Iowa was able to match up pretty well up front but the skill position players for Ohio were much better and came up with a lot more big plays.
Watching the 2006 season. Such promise shown by the road victory over Texas, Smith's 5th year Heisman campaign, the Defense's rep as strong. Yet, looking back, a sense of a season lost. Illinois in the second half appeared to give a roadmap to stop the offense, the Defense seemed to lose it the last 2 or 3 games. Smith won the Heisman, yet watching these no-huddle games, the sheer number of wide-open receivers he missed, you wonder how he was a Heisman candidate. Then, the Florida debacle., Smith was the leader, the Heisman winner, his utter disappearance. Just cannot group this team with the best I've seen in my half-century. No way I would include this team with the best I ever saw.
William Smith Primary reason the Bucks lost was the almost two month layoff between their last game and the BCS title game. They played Michigan the week before Thanksgiving that year, and the title game was a week after New Years. There you have it. If the Michigan game was a week later, and the title game was a week earlier, we might have a totally different story. Might be a team in the history books arguing for the greatest team ever.
I think the team from the year before was better. Vince young heroics plus bucks blew it. They lost at penn st but they were really rolling to end the year
Florida was a debacle but Smith was the clear Heisman winner. It wasn't even close. 30 TD's/6 picks on an undefeated team. 801 1st place votes. 45 was next highest. There's no "wonder" to it.
We lost to Florida because we were overmatched by their speed. Especially at DE. Unfortunately we were overmatched. Troy Smith still had the greatest season ever for a Buckeye QB and set the record for most heisman votes.
Laurinaitis over Dizon (Colorado) or Connor (Penn State) in 2007 is one of the most ludicrous Butkus awards ever. LSU ran directly at him with impunity.
Yeah! I know! Iowa has never been in Ohio States league, and will never have a chance because of the talent disparity, and a very overrated head coach in Kirk Ferentz! Can’t believe Iowa pays him so much money to be average, at best! What has he done in all these years? I don’t see Big 10 championships, or even getting to the playoffs! Iowa should have gone out to get a big time coach a long time ago!
Thanks for uploading this game!! Great Game and wonderful memories!! Go Bucks!!!
You're very welcome and thanks for the comment
38 points for a Jim Tressel team is equal to Urbs or Day scoring 72!

I am still having a hard time understanding how this team lost as bad as they did to Florida
POINT BLANK PERIOD 😑😑😳😳 all that talent

7 point favorite? I don't think Iowa can get that close to the Bucks.
2017?
Tbh, Laurinaitis was not my fav LB at tOSU, but he had some big plays in this game 4:40 32:43

@aaronrider4051 isn't it awarded before Bowl Season though? So you can't really count bowl games from after it's awarded against the winners
Too bad Buckeyes tailed off late in the season.Through the Penn State game they looked unbeatable
One of the craziest college YACs i have ever seen ;) 20:40
Crazy how the offensive lineup is basically all Ohio boys
Brent Musberger > Chris Fowler
Hawks had this game..tons of dropped balls...spoiler alert we get our revenge.
OSU went 3-0 against Iowa over the next decade, what do you mean?
What, 11 years later? 😂
You gotta get 1 every thirty years or so I guess lol

What are you talking about? Ohio State dominated them, like they always do! 🌰🏈
2006 Ohio State team. Most disappointing finish ever.
