- I was so crappy coming down the mountain, but I was basically tagging and bagging through the chase, the final corner and the first corner.
Follow me like a stalker! (please dont actually stalk me... duh)

love your comment about Forrest's Elbow; there have been many infamous crashes at the corner over the years over the various racing categories. Thank goodness that iRacing doesn't have kangaroos that drift on to the track and invariably get hit! There have many infamous wildlife incidents over the years too. (Bathurst is in the country, about 200 or so miles away from Sydney)
That wall before the Conrod Straight has a conveniently placed tyre stack on GT6 which if you haven't hit before, you're not trying hard enough
Mt Panorama is second only to the epic Nurburg Nordschleife as Most Awesome Track in the World. It really has everything a serious driver needs, and more.
Peter Brock, as undisputed King Of The Mountain should be revered by all racing fans, simulated or otherwise, the world over. And I'm not just saying that because I'm Australian.
Great racing. I was engrossed from start to finish.
Have been working out of state for some weeks-
A nice GT3 treat to come home to
Especially after watching the 12 hour race
Thanks as always Empty your still the coolest
(I had about an hour for AC earlier but I traded for a proxy race-
that's how cool you are)
Fun race to watch. I enjoyed watching the 12 hour (all 12 hours) even with all the yellows. I just love seeing the cars take all those beautiful curves, even when they are doing it very slowly...relatively speaking.
Oh the glorious understeer coming down the mountain. I could feel your frustration all the way from across the world. :D
i race the mustang in the touring car challenge right now. somehow, i won the first time i raced here. it was amazing. i think that the difficulty of this place pushed me to practice more than normal. i actually was in the same race as good 'ole empty box in this series last week too! you were in a solstice i think. i was hoping you had a cool race so i could see myself in a video, but you ended up crashing out, so it wasnt to be! oh, well.
Hi Matt You are in iRacing a role model for me and because of you I 'm addicted to it. I hope I 'm as good as you ever , and we'll see on the track. Even if the away nor long as you can see in my videos : D wish you all the best and keep going that way. Greetings from Germany Simon
You could ride an elephant around Bathurst and it would still be awesome
The pass at 22:15 is a wonderful piece of overtaking, I would have shit myself. Tanaka is a good driver though, its always good to be racing alongside someone who respects space.
Matt, liking the fact that you rank this in your top three globally.
It blows my mind how a car with so much mid corner grip and braking power can only be around a second faster than our current V8 Supercars, that may be a testament to the development of them but for a big, lumpy 4 door sedan with a big wing on the boot and a front lip, they can manage a 2:07.1~ almost every lap, insane
150 more HP on a track with two very long straights while going up a mountain will do that to ya!
It still blows my mind how something that can be called a pig to drive in so close in terms of pace but you sure are right with the power difference, it makes a huge effect up mountain straight
Tyler Edwards That's because those sedans have almost nothing to do with road versions except for the general body shape. While the Mp4 is still relatively similar. Also, GT3 cars have a lot of downforce, they're fast trough quick corners, and there are almost none of those at Bathurst, and they're slow in a straight line, and there are a lot of straight lines at Bathurst. On top of that, Supercars have 150hp power advantage, this is a perfect track for them, straights and slow 90 degree corners without quick transitions. Compare them at Spa for example, or any European race track for that matter, and there will be a huge difference between a V8 and GT3.
I wouldn't say that there is a massive difference between a V8 Supercar and the production car compared the the 12C GT3 and the production car. Both race cars have as many modifications as eachother
(I do agree with your point of the race car being much different to the production car)
Heck of a good racing to watch. Man that is some speed in turns like that.
i love the way the tracks look on iracing. almost real. like for instence, in grand turismo the track looks, weird, like inlarged or something. idk, iracing just makes the tracks look realistic and beautiful
I get super excited every time i see a bathurst video pop up, by far my favourite track :) have you considered racing in the v8 supercars series?
You sir... are a braver man than me. I never would have tried that pass on the outside.
Quite a chase through the chase at a track that is essentially the place for a chase.
the first 10 min are relaxing, but the last 10 min my heart was racing.
Fine racing sir. I do nr2003 online in a league. Watching you and trying to learn. Keep them coming!
That incident at the very end of the carnage report... not quite sure if I'd call that a divebomb, but that was surely a risky maneuver.
Definitely a divebomb, a poorly executed one to boot. There's no move on in that situation unless you KNOW you're amazing there and the other driver is poor.
Some GREAT Rac'in here! Enjoyed the heck out of it, EB.....................................=)
and i especially love bathurst, its so fast through the mountain
Very nice finish, great driving!
Hope you enjoyed watching the 12 hour. It got very hectic in those last couple of laps.
I always say at the beginning of this race, if you can finish it, you've got a good chance of getting some good points...the attrition rate can be quite high on this circuit.
Gawd those break sounds.
Whats a good C Class series to race? The V8s are a bit too hard for me to drive. I was thinking RUF Cup.
Seen this like 3 times, amazing race!
wow I've memorised this track from RealRacing3....
Now, isn't this a good RUclips recommendation!! :)
You loose a lot of time in that corner. There is a long straight after it, and you are meters away from the inner wall. You have to be really tight there to have a good exit. Adding some oversteer would definitely help.
Starting to get bored with my BMW Noob Missile again. I spent most of my Bathurst in the other three, and I might do Watkins in the Ford and/or RUF.
v8 Supercar test day AND the Bathurst 12 Hour on the same day? Life is saying you should post a v8 Supercar race Matt
awesome race. I obviously need a lot more practice, with my best lap being a good 2 second slower. but hey, i'm lucky to do 10 laps without wreaking on this track anyways.
I've never seen this dude so excited xD
Enjoyed watching this
hey Empty box, wich wheel, pedal set and maybe shifter are you using?
Empty... the Elbow you do it right... Its The Dipper that you had problems... and the esses are fucked up as well... But great racing anyway... try Spa... xD
Hey Matt! Did you know Orr means nose in my mother tongue?! :) If you didn't, then guess you can google it to find out where I'm from...:) (you hate our national track, but "not passionately" haha) Anyways: I love your vids, (just find your channel recently) I have never seen anyone to being so pro in what they doing in sim games! I just can watch you play, so I don't have to drag my lame ass to the track..hahaha! Keep it up bro!!!
The last carnage report.... What a dive-bombing "Imma out brake yo bitch ass!" DOUCHE... Guys, don't be that guy. You cannot come from a mile back and out break someone like that. Not in any car.
imagine hpd on bathurst. That would be insane in a multi class race on bathurst
Matt forgive me the lame question but: Y U NO C-SPEC RACIN' ANYMORE?
I remember you liking the car a lot when it was released.
Because no one races it and I dont really have an urge to drive it.
Empty Box no one races it, thats a good one ;-P
*****
It's funny because it's pretty much true. I've done a few races with it this season, and it's pretty boring TBH. Every race in my time slot ends up with no participation, me driving off into the sunset while picking my nose or someone else driving into the sunset picking their nose.
Empty Box well, my experience has been different, but I'm based in Europe so I guess that might be the cause. Fair enough though if it's boring why bother I guess.
***** Ruf Cup seems popular in the Euro times (late night West Aussie times for me) but Matt's right, it always seems relatively dead US prime time.
what cpu are you using? looks like its up quite abit and what gpu also thanks
cool video now above C 3.0 on road looking to promote to B at the end of the season cause I really want to drive GT3 (probably gonna die in GT3 but whatever)
Are you aware of that if you get your SR to 4.0 you get automatically upgraded to the next license no matter when in the season it is?
It's called Fast Track, in case you wanna search for it on the site. :)
Take care!
yeah i know but i wanna focus on oval more right now
THIS IS EMPTY BOOOXXXX
Ok, you can turn the traction control off for now.
where you overtook that 26 is a really bad spot to get it to work. just ask Marcus Ambrose. so well done on not making contact
We going to see an Indycar Road Race soon ? ;)
I've been practising jus to see what my pace is as iv only got d class, I love this car and gt3 and I managed a 2min 3 lap I was over the moon I was surprised how on pace I was can't wait to progress
What kind of wheel do you use? I've been struggling getting out of the lower splits with the newer drivers in IRacing. Seem like I'll have a good week, get some value rating, then the next three races I get dive bombed or taken out by a back marker and my raiting drops a lot and then I'm back in the lower splits. Has been really frustrating, but there is fun too. That's why I've stuck with it.
select20 Fanatec CSW v2, it isn't equipment though. Learn to predict when someone is going to violate your exhaust pipes, it'll do you well.
Awesome thanks. I was curious about wheel because I want to upgrade from my old g27. Wasn't sure what you recommended. While I like my G27, there are times in Iracing, when I feel I wish I had just a little.... more. Sometimes I feel it lacks input I should've gotten. I dont' know, maybe it's my imagination, but it has spurred me to start looking to upgrade.
Hey Matt, could we see some more Indy car fixed?
i had a bit of a love hate relationship with this track this week had 3 wind but also had some really bad races
oooo it was angrybox in this race
Look ma, I'm on TV!
So how long until iRacing gets their crap together and adds Le Mans?
Did u used rev matching in this race ?
'STRAYA
i cannot be the only one to say u sound exactly kermit
Wilfred Jones Actually so far - yes, you are!
I've never seen you on Road America, do you run that track?

Empty Box Thanks, that's one of the local tracks I run my car on. Love your videos and commentary. Wish I didn't have to have satellite internet so I could join in on the fun. :-)
Forrest Elbow is a notorious corner. In 1983 it nearly killed the race favourite, Dick Johnson during his qualifying lap.

Hi Empty Box nice race have you ever tried Bathurst in the reverse direction if you think this is hard try in reverse direction 10 times harder
RooBoy Hiphop Yup! I don't know about it being more difficult, it makes the typically hard and more dangerous part (coming downhill) waaaay easier although coming back down the corners are more difficult but less dangerous. It's certainly really weird. If you are interested in driving tracks backwards, try Mid Ohio out as well, that's another really weird one.
This video needs moar Ford.
Have you ever thought of changing your mirror FOV? It looks too wide to me, makes cars look too far away. Just saying.
Key words in that comment - "to me"
Empty Box I do apologise, it was an observation not a criticism. Is there any advantage to a wide mirror FOV or is it just your preference? Love your videos and informative commentary by the way. Can you tell me what software you use to capture your videos? Cheers.
Glygoo
Preference, I prefer it as I used to run the prototype / GT mixed class series, so the wide FoV gives you more information on the surroundings, I've just adapted to how far away things are in that view because I've used it long enough.
I record with Action.
dang it why don't i ever get into the same races as you >.>
He's a higher or lower split than you?
Cause your not as cool as empty
That's academic :0
ThyBiding he could be higher split because i'm currently 2700IR and climbing, but i have also raced with alot of these guys that were in this race this week so probably just the time at which he raced ;)
Patrik Flis If you look him up in iRacing you'll be able to see his iRating. I think he's in the 3K range but don't quote me on that :D
ThyBiding i did look him up earlier he has 3450 ir..could still be able to get into the same split if not alot of people went into the race ;)
GT3 drivers in iracing arent half as bad as every says. Especially if we compare them to drivers of any class in any other game.
I've only seen draft snaking used effectively in real life motorcycle racing. Here it seems pretty pointless.
33:36 M not much of a fan of physics anyway...
*flys to the sun*
How about raceroom bathurst?
*vomits*
Bathurst is one of those tracks that has been more or less forever ruined thanks to iRacing. Every other version of the track now is totally unbearable.
Why are GT3 driving standards just so poor? And if you could have any five cars added to iracing, what would they be and why?
They are not necessarily worse than other series, there is just a very large population of drivers that flock towards GT3 so you naturally also get an increase in the amount of poor drivers that come with.
Because it's probably the most competitive road series in terms of driver count, while at the same time it's at a high enough license level that by then no one is looking to progress really. Skips are also very popular, but it's at a lower level so drivers are still looking to progress (eg, not hit stuff)
If I can have any 5 and have them added quickly (as in not 5 years from now)... And being realistic about it (as in no Porsche, Ferrari or anything getting data iRacing needs would be pretty much impossible - LMP1 comes to mind)
1) Dallara IL15. New Indy Lights car - it fills a needed gap between the Star Mazda and the DW12 and I think would be a popular car for it's performance and sexyness. Road course and oval, which I'd absolutely want to run a combined schedule (same as how I feel about the DW12). Could even be a fixed car on road and oval with the DW12 being open only.
2) Aston Martin DBR9. Licensed, it's coming. I'd also like to see an overhaul of the Corvette 3D model at that time as well because it looks fairly old in iRacing standards wise. Why? Because Corvette v Aston, thunderous v8 v screaming v12. YES. YES. YES. The Corvette only series is dead as a doorknob, but when you toss the DBR9 in there against it I think this will gain some attendance. And by "some" I mean "a good bit". Especially with iRacing's external sounds this should easily be the best sounding series in any sim outside R3E. :D
3, 4, 5) Ligier JS P2, Corvette C7.R, Aston Vantage GTE.
What is known as WSCS in iRacing needs an overhaul. A proper, current, internationally appealing P2 car (Corvette DP is already licensed as well, those two can race in one class obviously) and two GTE/GTLM cars that again fit together and are internationally appealing and current. Plus with the current P2s being a bit slower than iRacing's ARX01C, the mixed interaction would be significantly easier which would mean fewer Proto-Idiots who drive through GT cars, meaning hopefully fewer GT drivers get turned away in disgust. (Quick check to back that up - Sebring 2010 P2 pole : 1:47.7, Sebring 2014 P Pole : 1:51.9, while the Ligier wasn't there in 2014 obviously, it's still going to be significantly slower than the 2010 P2 pole)
Empty Box That sounds.. perfect.
Empty Box i think without the ferrari, nissan and the mercedes gt3s the gt3 grid in this game feels a bit dated tbh
felix pinto
If you care about current cars you are doing it wrong in iRacing, you got the wrong game. Funnily enough, every car here but the Ford is still GT3 eligible. Also funny that you mention 3 cars which will be going out of production and put on it's 3 year deathbed while something newer comes along. lol
gonna make it harder next time lol.

Why the brakes make this noise? its not like broken car 25 years ago, its a dang GT3 car.
by the way, how iRacing can use Porsche? i know that EA bought all the rights.
It's not actually a Porsche, it's the Ruf RT 12R. They used specs from a Porsche GT3 car and combined it with the body of that car.
cjgeist thx bro
Because they're not Porsche's they're RUf's. RUF is a German tuning company which takes blank Porsche cars fits them with their own parts, and calls that a RUF.
The brakes squeak because they are cold, that's what race cars do.
Modern cars, including GT race cars, use metallic brakes. These brakes have a tendency to squeal, especially when cold.
It is the nature of the materials used, not their quality.
Can anyone tell me why he is short shifting so much?
+Eshrekticism Because it's faster in this car, the McLaren doesn't really need to be taken to max rpm. For one the power band is pretty dang meaty, for two the car is a little asthmatic in the upper end of the rev range.
Empty Box Ah ok, thanks!
Don't do curbs!
piss left racing? lmao
Yay
