- Hey all!! I have had difficulty finding good wifi so it has taken me a bit longer than I'd like to get this one out. This video is probably one of my favorites so far so hopefully you all stick around till the end :) I had all these plans for visiting cool things in Kansas but Mother Nature had other plans. Ok, see y'all in the next one!!

You're hilarious with the make shift prescription sunglasses lol I had prescription sunglasses custom made. Still have them after 15 years
Love the channel. I'm finally all caught up!
I love your username
@@sydniestateofmind Thank you! 🍻
We ALWAYS try to take the smaller highways instead of the interstates. You find so many special small towns. Great idea to check out the area before driving in. It’s called GOAL….get out and look. Thanks for another great video.
7:25 Good on you for making the effort to visit some out-of-the-way places. Unfortunately, most folks just stick to the Interstate because they reckon there isn't much worth seeing... but ol' Sydnie is proving them wrong.
I love your spirit of adventure and how you genuinely appreciate all the interesting things along the way!
The experience driving your car for as much as you have is probably what saved you, as in your gut reaction to know to properly correct and stay on the road! Close call but glad you’re alright!
Since she doesn't mention it, the place she visited with the chalk formations is Monument Rock in Oakley, KS. It formed from sediment on the floor of an inland sea millions of years ago. The place that she had to skip was Castle Rock in Collier, KS. If you drive further back at Castle Rock to Castle Rock Badlands there are several rock formations to climb on and explore. Beware though, the roads are pretty rough! Recommend 4WD and high clearance vehicles. Other places worth visiting near there is Little Jerusaleam (Badlands of KS) in Oakley, KS. Another location in KS to explore is Rock City Park in Minneapolis, KS that's not too far from I-70. Happy Exploring!
Adventure can be a bit scary but worth it . I have just found your channel 😊 i am now working my way through all your videos. I am sure I will be a dedicated subscriber. Sydnie has won me over with her great personality and honest delivery . Looking forward to traveling along with you . 👍👍
Hello, I'm a 66 year old gal from Missouri and just got back from a 10 solo van camping trip in Colorado. All your footage of I-70 through Kansas I just drove. What's really crazy is I stayed at that exact camp spot at Chase lake back in June. Small world!! Made me smile seeing that!
You are truly on the open road. You show ever thing really well with that drone. You do a good job of showing interesting spots.
Just think, all that rain washed most of the mud off your car. Just think of it as liquid sunshine. I ware sunglasses over my glasses also. Stay safe, have fun and have a wonderful day.
3:30 Bless you for having a physical map to look at.
Hi, Sydnie! I'm glad you are safe.
Thank you for sharing your time and experiences!
Also, say hello to your roommate Mickey, his lovely other half Minnie, and the rest of the family.
Stay safe, stay healthy, and stay happy!
Pops
Hopefully Mickey is gone....
The fact that you use your camera fails as transitions is perfect 😂 love the content! Keep it up! 🙌
LMAO!!! I love the glasses lol....
The pimento cheese chicken sandwiches are amazing!
For real
Waving goodbye to a toilet 😂
Great video.
You gorgeous thing. I`m happy to see another upload from you. :)
I like your bug net idea ❤
"And Kansas she says is the name of her town." --The Munchkin's singing to Dorothy.
So glad you avoided the ditch, or you might still be sitting there waiting for help. Also, glad you avoided having a run-in with a Kansas Twister. It could have picked you and your vehicle up and spun you around until you landed in Munchkin Land. 😏 I don't care what anybody says, your sunglasses are cool.
Don't worry love I didn't miss this ep.
lol
I love your choice of music. I'm always amazed that you can find campsites that you have entirely or nearly entirely to yourself. Have you ever considered adding some side window deflectors for your car? They would allow you to crack your windows a couple of inches for some air flow while keeping the rain out. I bought four for my Jeep Grand Cherokee from Weather Tech. I picked those only because they fit into the window channels. No adhesive taping.
I like getting off the Interstate sometimes. The only thing with those rural roads is they are 2 way. One time I was on my motorcycle in northern California and a car veered over the line. Fortunately, I was able to dump my bike in an area of overgrown soft grass. A few scrapes and bruises and the bike was still ridable. The driver of the car never stopped but someone driving behind me stopped to see if I was OK. No apology necessary for your videos. They are always fun. Just watching how you handle daily activities is entertaining. Sometimes the road trips that don't go as planned are the most interesting. Continued safe travels.
I have considered them, but I probably won't get them. And glad you were ok!! Sounds scary :(
thanks for posting beautiful glad to see you hope you are having a good day
Is this all you know how to say?! every damn video.
Your funny. Glad you made it thru the muddy road. And got to your destination safely.
Good ol' highway 34! I actually enjoy the grassy plains and lack of people on that drive. People often forget or don't care that it is not about the destination (fastest) but the journey!! At least in my opinon. Keep on truckin! and watch for mice out there in the midwest....there is a lot of them!
Syd, if u would burn through 2, gallon bottles of Rain-X window washer fluid, u’ll never use anything else.
Prob before but definitely after, going through the 1st gallon, whenever you encounter rain, you will see a remarkable difference with regard to how well you’re able to see.
Mud caked tires are like driving on mud because you are. The more you drive, the more you learn. Also, Chick-Fil-A therapy is a thing. Use it when you need it.
If coolant is disappearing out of your cooling system you should get that looked at right away. It might "just" be a leak in the radiator or hoses somewhere, or it might be a head gasket failure that will destroy your engine. The head gaskets are relatively east to replace and will save your engine.
Oh good call, thanks.
Sydnie, Great defensive driving skills, yes that would have sucked if you ended up in the ditch. 4:09 someone got up and walked away or there's a trail back in the tree line area. Awesome sandstone formations great find in the middle of nowhere. Sunglasses remind me of The Dude on "The Big Lebowski" Thanks for sharing... p.s. enjoy your stay in a real house in a real bed.
Good decision to skip Castle Rock in the rain. The road would have been muddy. Our weather intimidates travelers, but we've lived with it all our lives so it seems normal.
your doing a great job sweetie, enjoy life, live life and be careful.
How do you do your drone shots while you’re driving?
For rain you need weather tech vents, you can keep your window open up to an inch and rain will not come in.
Fun video! Glad you're OK. Interesting fact...I spent most of my life just outside of W-S in Thomasville. After traveling the US for three months, I've landed in Wyoming (Green River) and the closest Chick-fil-A is in Salt Lake City, UT...two hours away! I, too, am a fan of the pimento cheese sandwich. Is it worth the drive? 🤔
I always enjoy your vids. Be safe and keep 'em coming.
Hahahaha!! And I know where Thomasville is!
That was a fun video! What was rock formation you stopped at? Might have to put that on my list to visit 😊
Great videos Sydnie, who flyes the drone while you drive the car? Is it self -flying? If so, do you have a link so I can get one, please? :)
she's driving ten mph with no traffic. you can set them to follow you too
^this
@@sydniestateofmind was right about something today huh. 🤣😂🤣😂
I found this channel two days ago and almost watched all episodes .. Real facts;
- Five months ago she was fatter and she wasn’t hiding her car plate number 😅
go to Nebraska the west end is beautiful. look for chimney rock park.
Hope ya get to stop in eureka springs .. kinda cool little town ?? But if ya ever did rte 66 ya probably have had enough small cool towns !!
You should purchase a Roof Top Tent (RTT) clamshell type. And a side awning. Make life easier.
I 100% wish I had an awning. I like sleeping in my car since I can stealth camp and don't have to worry about weather.
Cool stuff. What was the name of the rock formations?
They were "Monument Rocks, a series of large chalk formations in Gove County, Kansas, rich in fossils." Cheers Tony
@@tonyb271 thanks
You lived in Winston Salem my folk's live in Lexington NC I now live in Alaska. Safe travels
Yes I know where that is!! Alaska is cooler tho
@@sydniestateofmind 2 many rednecks for me in Lexington. I just got back from there in March I only go back once every 5-10 years. Way to hot in T -ville. Been living my life in Alaska for 30 years just me my wife and son take care. Peace
" but I don't care " is key
Hello, I want to buy a car similar to the one you use when I come to America. Are you happy with this car? Do they fix it easily when it breaks down? Is there a service problem?good day...
It's the SUV my family had, so taking it saved me money I would have spent on another vehicle. I originally had a honda accord so that wouldn't have worked for this trip. If I would have bought something, I would have gone with a 4Runner, Tundra, or Tacoma. I will say, this Volvo has been a CHAMP so far and has gotten me to a lot of cool 4x4 campsites. It is also super spacious inside. I do believe it is an expensive car to repair, but don't quote me on that. Your call.
@@sydniestateofmind Thank you so much 🌹
I'm guessing you aren't used to driving on muddy roads. I'm glad you are taking the more scenic route of Kansas. I've heard that the southern part is a bit more adventurous than the middle\I-70. I don't travel over to Kansas that often and the furthest west into Kansas I've been is Manhattan.
Now I understand why you didn't stop around the Kansas City area. Driving through rain\thunderstorms is no fun. Several years ago I drove through one massive storm for 1.5 hours straight going to St. Louis taking I-70. Missouri does have a few east\west roads that aren't I-70 but if I'm remembering your map right and my knowledge of that part of the state, you probably took several different roads. I do know which north\south routes you crossed.
I avoided KS and STL this time. I drove through both going out west and had sunny, windy weather. I drove through KS a couple years ago in the winter and there were ice patches all over the interstate. Very scary.
@@sydniestateofmind I can see where the Midwest, particularly Kansas and Missouri, can be a bit scary during winter.
Wilson lake is cool too
So dang cute
Crazy rock formations surrounded by flat flat flat. Stay out of Missouri unless you want even worse jenky weather. Constant TORNADO warnings. i had the worst experience there.
The bird checking out the drone was funny.
kanas is some scary weather. and fires. I had to drive in smoke that you couldn't see in at all.
ha! if you say so
I'm a native Kansan who's been all over the state, and I have no idea where you were?
I just moved to missouri and had no idea Kansas had all this!?
Be care posting music in the background. There is no such thing as a 5 or 10 second rule. Even 1 second of music YT can demonetize your video due to copyrights.
Adapt and overcome with Chick-Fil-A.
hope u are ok
👍💐🙂
💋💋💋❤❤❤
U need a Texan for security 😊
North hurricane Alley ..80.... No more for me I drop to 40..70 is not for me either..ain't much up in them there parts of green flys n pig poop..I know I sound judgemental..oh well
No Chick-fil-A Good for you
You should get a dog, he or she will keep you company and increase your views.
The best thing about Kansas is when you exit…..just kidding. Kansas is a little too flat, I prefer my Arkansas
Clean inside your damn fuel door.
16:37....oh, GROSS!!!
Pimento cheese & honey Chickaways are The Best!!! My little nephew could not pronounce Chick-Fil-A, and so now it is forever known as Chickaway to my family. And I love a good rainstorm, but not while driving on a dirt (mud) road miles away from civilization! 😮 You be careful. 🚙🏕️
7:15 Very intriguing place
It would be so much better if no one ever added generic music backing tracks to videos like these.
