I have never been over-medicated before, and yet I’m epileptic and possibly mildly autistic. My mother cares so much about my health and takes it very seriously. Take this for an example… I walked out of my bedroom and into the kitchen to take my medicine for my medication, but instead, I fell face first onto the kitchen floor and hit my forehead, followed by a seizure. Next thing I know, my mother is putting her shoes on my feet and I’m in the living room, so very confused, and she told me that she was taking me to the emergency room so that I could get checked out. Hearing those words scared the living daylights out of me because I hate going there. It’s very overwhelming for me. The next day, I had a terrible headache, which involved another trip to the emergency room. The doctor wanted to give me a CAT scan, but my mother said no, since I’ve already had 2 CAT scans and 2 x-rays done in my life. She said it would be dangerous if I got a 3rd scan done. The doctor told me to just rest and take it easy for a few days. About a few days to a week later, I felt better. So far, I haven’t had any seizures ever since we moved to the City in March. My mother may be a little over-protective when it comes to my seizures, but she does care about my health a lot.

OCD can cause ticks, so it was nice seeing that. I don’t think I’ve ever seen our tics portrayed in media. It’s too bad they’ll never show just how dark it can get, but those darker types are kept in the dark because people hate us when they come to light.
This might be a coincidence, but I think this video is a re-upload of another video. The other video is titled parents refused to believe their son has OCD.
I have 2 children with PANDAS. I'd love to have this show actually do research. It is not some made up disorders. There are blood tests which can confirm the child has it. Doctors and researchers have been researching this. Exemplary research institutions no longer try to "prove" PANDAS is a real disorder. Now they are researching how to eliminate it. PANDAS is a scary disorder. Your child is happy and healthy one day, and literally overnight they are nearly unrecognizable. Severe OCD, anxiety, emotional lability, and Tourette's-like symptoms. And not just a little anxiety. Some are so severe they cannot go anywhere in public let alone to school. Long-term antibiotics is one of the initial treatments and they do help. No parents want their child taking this long term. But IVIG (which has been proven to help) is difficult to get covered by insurance and is prohibitively expensive. I've watched my kids struggle with this for over ten years. The only thing that helped was IVIG. I know the show is trying to say that everyone assumes a kid with tics probably has it. But believe me, that is rare. Getting a diagnosis took years for us, trying to find a doctor to diagnosis it let alone treat it. The doctor's comments were offensive and uneducated. This show drives me nuts. Everything is about "bad parents". Doctors are paid to give medical opinions, not personal.
I think the moment they were aware that the parents were submitting their son to a treatment that gets him nowhere and even worsens his condition they should have sent for CPS immediately because they are clearly endangering him.
2:25 I’m only this far-I don’t typically watch these med shows, but At least they got the “Vanco” right… Then again, They would’ve known if it was C-Diff right away, for…other reasons. I know this from personal experience…over a year of horrible personal experience in and out of the hospital, weighing less than 100lbs, getting pneumonia from the IV in the ambulance (from them saving my organs, due to severe dehydration) almost losing custody of my child because nobody knew how sick I was and thought I was just “sleeping” when I was, in fact, losing consciousness, but his father declined to offer any help, till the final hospital admission when the ambulance came to get me and I was 2 BP points away from not Having one. I remember just feeling cold. All of this, FROM improperly diagnosed antibiotics. Now I have my own shiny file with the CDC, and while technically cured due to a…transplant…(FRS) I never have to have a roommate in a hospital again. Technically, I’m not ALLOWED, but I like to look at the silver lining…oh, and I’m not really supposed ever take antibiotics again unless it’s life or death-and if it IS, I can’t take it w/o taking another antibiotic along with it JIC. Ironic. Sorry for the life story…this video got me kinda mad, even tho I know it’s scripted. I pray it’s not based off of any true story and ppl are at least somewhat educated re:antibiotics these days…
Yeah because it definitely wasn't her idea to hook up with another woman in the first time right now and now you are going to be mean to her like this well I don't think so because if you don't want to be nice to her then she doesn't have to be in love with you seriously
It's wild how this title labels it as the mothers fault and most of the comments only mention the mother, when the father is clearly just as adamant about the kids regiment.
People are so ignorant about antibiotics and the long term use of them. I beat long term advanced Lyme with fairly strong and a variety of plant antibiotics. They are bad ass without compromising your gut health, which is everything when it comes to health. It takes a lot longer, but when you're that I'll, it's a marathon not a sprint.
Man these two are terrible. One is willing to lie and the other is emotionally charged (he’s more understandable but he’s starting to get unprofessional with this situation). Their supervisor needs to step in or get the hospital psychiatrist to come and help talk the parents into better solutions.
If you watch the whole series, Natalie is constantly breaking rules based on her own emotions and never gets in trouble for it, it's always looked over. It's frustrating to the viewer.
It’s actually not as common as you think. It’s just the largest percentage. I think I read maybe 30%. But that means 70% of OCD cases involve things other than that.
Ok I get it you dont want your child to get bullied, but you'd rather keep him from getting treatment for something he could possibly die from? Who tf let you have a child
If only IVIG was something thr was so easily passed out in the hospital, more less the ER! Especially when there really isn't a logical reasoning for it.
She should take him to a doctor instead of overdoseing him on antibiotics for OCD. She can give him antibiotics for Streptococcus but not OCD. And an inflamed colon to the point of destruction and a intestinal virus 🦠🦠.
She’s extremely protective of kids, and vulnerable patients… women do get emotional regardless especially if they are over worked in this kind of setting… she’s honestly just looking out for the best interests of everyone involved…
This is a horrible depiction of PANDAS as well as the families who suffer from it. Ive suffered from PANDAS for 15 years (Im 20 now) and Ive never once met or heard about a mother who OD’d their child with antibiotics. It’s so frustrating and disappointing to see a PANDAS parent portrayed by the media as a crazy person after years of having Doctors deny me treatment because they didn’t believe in my illness. And for all those in the comments here saying “Antibiotics don’t treat OCD” you’re absolutely right. It doesn’t treat OCD, it treats autoimmune encephalitis (aka PANDAS) that CAUSES OCD. Please don’t buy into this bullshit, this is not how actual PANDAS parents behave.
The whole point of this is that it isn't actually PANDAS. The doctor who diagnosed it was misdiagnosing people who had OCD with PANDAS even though it clearly isn't. So the kid is not supposed to be depicting PANDAS correctly because he doesn't have it.
@@liamlockheartart7560 I see your point but so often in the PANDAS community parents and doctors are brushed off as crazy for suggesting that a patient might have PANDAS and so representation like this really doesn’t help our cause. It perpetuates the idea that PANDAS/AE is not a condition that should be taken seriously. As someone who’s had doctors, friends, and even some family members not believe in my condition, this kind of media representation is very frustrating.

No, but it is debilitating
@@Chiller-pc1dv I have OCD! Can function in society! It only is if you let it take over you! Covid taught me how to control it and I got help before it took over me

I have OCD. I don't get why people think it's so bad and taboo. It may be a little complicated and impeding at times, but it's really no big deal.
I also have OCD and I disagree, it's more than just impeding at times, it's disabling. It was labeled as the 10th most disabling disorder out there.
@@Chiller-pc1dvthere are different types from mild to debilitating
@@telsclark I never said otherwise, but my statement still stands, it was labeled as the 10th most disabling disorder. My point is you can't overall call it not a big deal, because you can't speak for everyone with it. Yeah, it may not be a big deal for some, but many others are seriously impacted by it. Overall it is a serious disorder, just less serious for some.
It’s no big deal for you, personally. It is for others.
@@Chiller-pc1dvDidn’t know that, but it checks out and I’m glad to hear research like that being published, because people really act like we don’t go through much and just wash our hands a little too much. It’s been so oversimplified and brushed over that people use a debilitating disorder as slang to describe minor inconveniences. Plus, are many other types of OCD, and even for those of us with COCD, it’s so much more than just than washing our hands too often.

I had a doctor like that, practiced on me in the 70's. Still practices in California, if you are his patient you have ADD.
I can't quite work out why this clips are so short and fail to resolve.
my grandfather recently got a bacterial infection from inadvertently taking antibiotics longer than was necessary. I think he didn't realize that he was supposed to stop at a certain point rather than just keep going until his supply was gone. He's almost 90 and as much as I hate to admit, he gets confused sometimes. We're making sure that his antibiotics for this are done properly with my mother and I checking on him to make sure that he takes the pills that my mom lays out for him at the prescribed time.
Excuse you what did you just say look dude she's taking her time to deal with their boy isn't feeling good at all because he's very sick right now and you're just trying to mudder her son like this right now
What’s with the reruns. I swear they done this one already
The definitely did.
hHis is the type of case I wish Doctor House would have so he can actually force the parents into the right thing.
OCD can cause ticks, so it was nice seeing that. I don’t think I’ve ever seen our tics portrayed in media. It’s too bad they’ll never show just how dark it can get, but those darker types are kept in the dark because people hate us when they come to light.
Imagine seeing a stressed out mother rubbing her hands together and then washing her hands in the bathroom and dx OCD just like that
I don't know, but maybe she came to that conclusion based on the fact that the boy may have OCD and is a genetic condition???
Yeah don’t wash ur hands in a hospital!
I know they uploaded this another time, but I forgot what happened.
Oh no wait the mom had OCD as well, but she hid it from her husband.
I think the moment they were aware that the parents were submitting their son to a treatment that gets him nowhere and even worsens his condition they should have sent for CPS immediately because they are clearly endangering him.

I’m only this far-I don’t typically watch these med shows, but At least they got the “Vanco” right…
Then again, They would’ve known if it was C-Diff right away, for…other reasons.
A true OCD would never wash their hands and throw away the paper towel and then proceed to open a public bathroom door with their bare hands

What?! How does that work???
“We’ll do the IVIg here.” Lmao, it takes ages to get ins. to approve it for PANDAS.
They should have just transferred the kid like the parents wanted. Why waste time and resources when it's not wanted?
My daughter has Tourettes, Autism, and ADHD. I would never dose her with antibiotics trying to "cure" her.

Excessive hand washing is a sign of OCD. Tell tale signs.
It’s actually not as common as you think. It’s just the largest percentage. I think I read maybe 30%. But that means 70% of OCD cases involve things other than that.

Was thinking the same
Dr Charles isnt here for patients. He's here hecause the staff behave like children.
@@MiaLitizia I totally understand. I have autism and some people think things like bleach enemas can cure it despite the fact that there is literally no way to cure a different nuerotype.
