I have a theory that whether or not something is good in melee comes down entirely to how good the person you’re playing against is.
In a weird way I feel like worse players would be throwing out panic options in this scenario that might beat out the extension, but if you’re playing against a really good player and you’re also a really good player, that’s where the mixup game actually comes in in full force and doing these kinds of things becomes some real big brain shit.
