It’s also not placed around a male horses balls as some have suggested those are much farther back in the groin. That being said as a fan of properly run rodeos I would like to see them use larger breeds of pony’s not minis! Shetlands would be awesome for this as they are better built to carry the weight whereas minis are not.

I do steer riding. Me and my twin sister. We are the only girls in it too! The boys never stay on so we always get the prize money. We are in the Kraft rodeo.
I think this is more dangerous for little kids compared to mini bulls. the horses are more unbalanced, the rig moving around a lot and some just run full speed. watch out for the fence! or Your head/body going to be bumping and grinding along side the fence if they get their hands stuck. more kids got hurt here than calf, steers, mini bull. I'm going to see how long this could last.
The flank strap does not get tighter as the horse runs or bucks. It usually gets looser, and many times the horse/pony will kick it loose before the pick up man has a chance to take it off. They tighten the flank strap as the pony leaves the chute. It is no tighter than a girth on the saddle.
@@fern-liberationlakdnd for 1, if we see that the animal is about to get hurt or if it is too much pressure then we actually give a warning for the rider to chill the heck out or in the case of bulls/bronc, to abandon ship(get off). If they don't then they get heavily fined and disqualified, yes in this there were definitely some kids that shouldn't have been riding because they were simply too damn big to be riding those Minis. But that doesn't mean go and say all rodeo is cruel. We're the first people to donate to animal charities, and I've seen people abuse their horse at a rodeo and everybody in the warm up pen at the time sent them packing. What you "see" and hear about, are the bad seeds of the sport. And as sad as it is, EVERYTHING has bad seeds in it. I wish it weren't that way but it is, all we can really do is try to fix it or get them out. But I'm 90% sure none of this will change your opinion so a blessed day to you🙏❤

I was one of the riders and we do not abuse the animals we don't shock the horses and mainly the horses we use are mares(a mare is a female horse)
