  • Solo rafting The Lower Needles & White Horse Rapid sections of the Potomac River in the Intex Seahawk 2 two person inflatable raft on perhaps the best summer evening of the entire summer. It was one of those late summer evenings where the weather and sun were of the best possible combination, making being outside a must do.

    Level: 1.2ft. (estimated based on the Point of Rocks Gauge)
    Distance: 1.1 Miles
    Class: I-II
    NOAA Gauge: Potomac River At Point of Rocks (PORM2)

    Intex Seahawk 2
    Description:
    This is just one of the ways of how low water is fun at Harpers Ferry, and is when you can get a read of the features that are normally submerged. Hopefully this video serves as a critique and review of the capabilities of the Intex Seahawk 2 for those of you who are searching for a one to two person inflatable raft that can be used for both flat water and class I-II whitewater. This is the kind of information that I was in search for when I was reviewing all of the customer reviews and RUclips videos of the Seahawk 2 and other competitor rafts. Most of the reviews were sparse when it came to river action, so hopefully this one answers any questions that you may have. If not, please feel free to reach out to me and I'll provide you with the best explanation that I can.
    I was fully expecting to get eaten and flipped by White Horse, but to great surprise the Seahawk punched through like a champ. I am very curious to see how it handles at its class III level and 2.5ft+, especially in how much water it will take in. In the future I plan on posting a video of how it handles in higher water and class III action, so that way you can see extent of its capabilities. This was my first time using this raft in non-flat water and I was still very much getting a feel for how the ors work for steering and general control. Once one gets the rhythm down maneuvering isn't as complex as it at first seems to be. I took on a lot of scraping, becoming concerned at one point, but the raft showed no signs of getting ready to pop; its rugged vinyl construction took all of the abrasions very well. If a puncture does happen, the inner auxiliary chamber should keep the raft from completely sinking if the puncture is in one or both of the other two chambers. The Gear Pouch is handy if there are two people in the raft, but a better option may be looping a dry bag to the grab line rope may be a better option depending on your storage needs. Intex Recreation Corp. does not advertise this for rocky or whitewater, but as you can see it delivered impressive results. The rocks were rounded but still slammed into them with considerable force, demonstrating the strong durability of the vinyl.
    The raft came with two tiny punctures, which I found out when trying to inflate it. Intex providing outstanding customer service and a replacement raft, which was fully functional. I consider this to be a one person sized raft for males, and it could comfortably fit two small people (with minimal gear), such an adult and a kid, or two petite females; otherwise it becomes difficult to get it going due to the weight and not having enough space to correctly use the ors. If one is ready to upgrade from an inner-tube but it not quite ready or interested in a whitewater kayak, inflatable rafts such as the Seahawk 2 may be a nice option to consider. You get the inner-tube feel, but with the protection of a tank and the luxury of an RV. As with Intex's River Run Inner-Tube, I found Intex's electric air pump (Quick Fill) to inflate the raft faster than the factory hand pump. Also, be careful that the rubber ring on the french ors does not slide off, if so it almost renders the ors to become useless.

      That's nice to hear craigelew01, I was the same way, was very excited to get the Seahawk II out on the water, but had to wait several months until winter had passed. I inflated it inside and got and got used to the feel of it and seeing how roomy it was while the winds howled outside. My first time out was actually just a bit up from the rapids, in the the long and deep section of flat water, known as Dargen's Bend, where the wake from the speed boats would rock me, having me to find out how how the raft would hand...well before I had the intention of seeing how it would rock on the rapids.
      If you're looking to only use the raft in deep water, such as lakes, I saw that Intex also makes an electronic motor that is made specifically for the raft. The oars took me some getting used to, but once I got the rhythm down, it was like I suddenly had a steering wheel, whereas before it was like being in a bumper car. Let me know how your adventures go and what part of the world you're exploring!

      Hi Lucy, haha, that was my first thought too, back when I started getting into whitewater, and then as I progressed and advanced my river reading and whitewater kayaking stills my entire perspective changed, especially from rocking the waves hard in a kayak. I sure anticipated on being flipping when heading hard into White Horse, and surprisingly the Seahawk II took on her waves like a champ, even with it being low water. Interestingly, this is the part of the same route that George Washington canoed through back when he was exploring Harpers Ferry, and commented about his ride and referring to White Horse as "The Spout" in The Diaries of George Washington (August 7th, 1785). This was my maiden voyage in taking the Seahawk down whitewater, making for a test. I have an updated video from after I gained more experience, of the same lower portion of this video at a higher water level, which is packed full of a lot more action - "Intex Seahawk 2: Rafting White Horse Rapid (Potomac River) at 3.7ft. You're welcome, I had such a difficult time finding river footage any in-depth reviews of the Seahawk 2's capabilities when I was evaluating which raft options would best fit me. From not feeling informed a I felt I needed to be when first starting out, I wanted to give to others out there, who are also interested in the Seahawk, any advice that I could to help them feel whether or not this is the best raft for them. And I also wanted emphasize safety as well, for those who are enjoy whitewater adventures, with the Seahawk being designed as a recreational raft.
      Let me know how it goes for you; what kind of trips do you plan on having, summer floats, fishing, or any whitewater? The Seahawk 3 looks like it has so much room to be comfortable in. My own criticism with the Seahawk 2 is that the oars are flimsy for my purposes, and easily can break in the undercurrents or shallow rocks of more moderately sized rapids.

      That's exactly what I was looking for too, before buying this raft when wondering how well it would hold up in Class I-III whitewater. I was basically on my own, and took it out for the first time in a deep flatwater section of the Potomac River, and then took the plunge and risk in running the rapids, when they were smaller, but much more rockier in low water conditions.
      In fact Intext makes a trolling motor just for its rafts; I've seen quite videos of the Seahawk II raft with a small trolling motor on it for fishing. It seems like it works out well from what I saw when I was searching all over for whitewater videos.

Yours probably is the BEST video showing how intex seahawk actually performs on water. My question is 1. : is it a very mild exercise or moderate or heavy for the arms? • @PotomacPassageOolikhanna
      @PotomacPassageOolikhanna  3 года назад +1

      You are very welcome Mariam, and thank you very much for letting me know of your thoughts of my video and very much appreciate the compliment. Performance is just what I was going for in this video, because in part, just like you said, in what motivated me to post this video (which I made well before I created my RUclips channel, largely in part for educational value) was I could not find any videos or reviews on the Seahawk before I bought it, which discussed how it performs in actual moving water. All that I could find was just like what you said, over a hundred videos of how to inflate it, it being unboxed, and people using Intex's electric trolling motor on it for fishing. With the vinyl being of a thicker gauge than Intex's River Run inner-tube, I just felt that it would handle the rapids quite well and not be as fragile and prone to puncturing as how it is advertised, not for whitewater and for lake-like water. So I thought, like with my kayaking videos, maybe this video could help out other people who are looking just what I had been looking for for so long in finding footage (and not just reviews) of how the Seahawk performs in much more than just flat water, and seeing what the limits of whitewater capabilities are.
      I felt that the Seahawk takes on more abrasion in low water like in this video because so many more rocks are exposed, which are submerged well under the water line in moderate and high water. Surprisingly to some, higher water presents less of a chance of hitting and "popping." In my two recent videos from September 2020, I learned even more just how suited the Seahawk is for class III waves, which it takes on a like a champ! I was so impressed, and surprised that still, I was still was not flipped in White Horse Rapid, at a level that I've seen kayakers flip at. The rocker on the bow brought the Seahawk to life like I never knew it could when descending and punching into White Horse's mouth, its biggest wave, and a hard smack of green water (compared to many rapids that are of the soft white aerated type). It rides to the crest of the waves like a real whitewater raft, rather than easily becoming inundated with water from big splashes or rising up and toppling backwards. I'm looking forward to the return of higher water and seeing just how much more of a hard charger it can be. Steering ability and how one shifts their weight before and during impact also affects how it handles and its risk of flipping when in waves and holes.
      I definitely feel it in my arms, like with weight lifting exercises that isolate the muscle groups of the arms. I also find the oaring to make for excellent cardiovascular exercise. I've been running for most of my life and feel the same benefits from oaring, endurance and breathing wise, as I do from running, especially when trying to make it to shore when in a crosscurrent or just remaining steady when in the rapids. I found the flat water to be quite the workout, as the walkers/joggers on shore, on the C&O Canal easily were passing me. Once you get the unison rhythm of the oaring down, you'll be able to turn at an instant and feel like its like riding a bike. I'm considering on looking for heavier duty oars, such as aluminum, which I feel are completely necessary when not in flat water, as I've had to lift the oars out when in rapids - loosing directional control - so that the undercurrents would not snap the oars. Without the rubber O-ring, the oar won't stay in place in its holder, just be careful that it does not slip off when adjusting it. Here is the full edition of my Summer 2020 video, which includes White Horse Rapid at double the level than from this video - ruclips.net/video/L7SDJvI-J6Y/видео.html

      Hi Mac, you're welcome, thank you for the comment. From Whitehorse to Dawson makes for a true expedition kind of trip, I imagine well over 500 kilometers/160 miles. I feel you would need a outfitter rated kind of whitewater raft for such a wilderness adventure, one that has plenty of room for gear and pick up more speed than the Seahawk II. I have to other videos of riding the rapids in the Seahawk II, performed like a champ. If you ever do that trip, or anything other wilderness adventures up that way, let me know, I would see the unspoiled beauty rugged adventure.

      Hi Mariam, I wasn't sure what to expect, in terms of how durable the vinyl would be, the first time that I bumped into the boulder sized rocks, and when first dragging over the shallowly submerged rocks. Thought it didn't take long for my confidence to grow once I got a sense of how well the raft held up in those "bumper car" like moments amid the rocks and bouncy waves. I first tested out the raft in a long stretch of deep flat water well before ever taking it downstream to the thrilling rapids. Learning how to use the oars was a bit like learning how to ride a bike, but after getting dialed in I could eventually maneuver through the rapids like in a kayak, and not have that feeling of having no control like when in an inner-tube. Although, the durability of the oars could be greatly improved, as it became very apparent how flimsy the oars are when in turbulent water; it would not take much for the current to snap the oar - which happened in this video of mine - ruclips.net/video/L7SDJvI-J6Y/видео.html Being constructed out of metal would greatly improve the material strength and overall use capabilities when in moving water and rapids.
      Here is an updated and recent video of testing the Seahawk's capabilities and seeing the conditions that it can handle a lot more than from this video, and in much deeper and faster water within the same rapids as this video - ruclips.net/video/xYJLWaGFovQ/видео.html

      Haha, oh man, now that's a bold statement, the "I Shouldn't be Alive" takes it to a whole to level, never thought of it that way in low water like this...and this was my first time in taking the Seahawk 2 into the rapids, where the time before this...it's maiden voyage, it was upstream above the remnants of Dam no. 3, where the speed boat play, where the current is glass, slow-going, and flat. This was quite the adventure and a skill test for me, especially at White Horse, but that "I Shouldn't be Alive" level is what comes to mind when I see the Potomac at high water! Here's a video of going seeing much of White Horse's kick I can handle at higher water, and after way more whitewater experience from my kayak - "Intex Seahawk 2: Rafting White Horse Rapid (Potomac River) at 3.7ft. (Millville)" - ruclips.net/video/xYJLWaGFovQ/видео.html
      Here is the product description from Intex's website for the Seahawk 2: intexcorp.com/products/sporting-goods/sport-series-boats/seahawk-2-boat-set/ Overall, it is advertised for recreational use and fishing, on calm bodies of water, such as gentle lakes and slow moving shallow rivers. The Intex Mariner series is designed with "Super Tough PVC" and has a heavy duty look to it, perhaps like the action I had with the Seahawk 2. What kind of fun do you plan on having with your Seahawk once it arrives?

    I usually use a river run float which has a mesh seat so it lets water in and keeps you cool. how does the seahawk compare in that sense. do you bake in the sun due to no water hitting you?

    • @PotomacPassageOolikhanna
      @PotomacPassageOolikhanna  Год назад +1

      Hi Kanwal, great analysis and question between the float options from Intex Corp. I also have the Intex River Run inner tube too; I know just what you mean by how great the mesh seat works. I also like it because it keeps me from falling through the tube when riding the rapids.
      Regarding the Seahawk 2, I layer up with my kayaking gear, which blocks most of the sun exposure, particularly from the sun sleeves, gloves, knee pads, and helmet, and sunglasses. Overall, I only have a little bit of exposed skin, which sun tan lotion helps to protect. I use my raft for intermediate whitewater, so fortunately, I'm not dry too long, with getting splashed quite a bit from the rapids, which also keeps me rather wet and cool. Though, if I was like most people who use the Seahawk, for flatwater purposes, I would surely have my skin covered and be concerned about the baking.
      Where do you enjoying using your River Run at?

    • @PotomacPassageOolikhanna
      @PotomacPassageOolikhanna  3 года назад +4

      Thank you, that clarity had a lot to do the timing of the weather conditions, which I pay a lot of attention to in conjunction to the water levels in order to get that rare and short lived window of when the natural lighting is just right. As you know, sunlight is everything when it comes to outdoor shots, especially when going down river and knowing when the glare window is over the backdrop lighting is on in the two hours before sunset. When shooting in less than 4K, with a small lens, such as with this video (2.7K), it's so difficult to get good lighting and not dull out the shot when it isn't totally clear out.
      Surprisingly, this video, being one of the very early ones, was only created with GoPro Quick for desktop, the stock software that comes with GoPro, and which I found to be rather limited in its features (compared to other basic editing programs) and too glitchy to be reliable more often than not. But it set me up in knowing what future programs would be serve my needs and which features would be most useful to me. It was a good foundation to learn from and to gain an appreciation for just how versatile and really superior the other entry level software programs out there are.
      If you're interested in seeing shots of this raft in higher water (moderate but not high water, this video is low water) check out the two other videos on my channel whose title begin with "Intex Seahawk II." @PotomacPassageOolikhanna  3 года назад +1

      Hi Miles, that's smart and just the right question to ask before getting out there and seeing how it all turns out with testing its limits. Personally, I can only speak from river experience, from both flat water and solid whitewater (I have two other videos on here from the same spot on the Potomac River at twice the water level of this video). I've seen Intex heavily advertise the Seahawk 2 for fishing, it come with two fishing rod holders and Intex even makes an electric trolling motor specifically for the raft, which fits onto raft's built in motor mount fittings.
      When relying on the oars and not a motor, I feel it would be quite difficult to maintain control in going the direction that you want to go when in choppy and windy conditions. For me it handles choppy waves like a champ on the river, but would fear being pulled out to sea if I was in anything tidal of when breezy out. But on a nice sunny day, with no wind or choppiness I feel you would be in great shape. Depending on how much gear you have and the size of the fish you may want to consider the Seahawk 3, which is larger and more roomier, but for me the Seahawk 2 has plenty of legroom and space for me and my whitewater gear. The Seahawk 3 is heavier, weighing 32lbs, compared to 20lbs for the Seahawk 2.
      Where are you planning on going fishing at?

      @@mileswhite5672 You're very welcome, and that's a big part of why I'm here, to best prepare and teach others from what all I've learned from my experiences and research, and to pass on what I can to best help out others to enjoy the blessings that nature has to offer, to make for that feeling of being fully alive. When I first was interested in the Seahawk II (and places where I wanted to kayak at), I just wasn't finding much information out there to prepare me in the right ways, and the majority of the videos looked to be made to get views (like the so many unboxing videos), rather than for purposes of having genuine content. I strive for real worth and capturing life's memorial moments over the ratings/social media value of what so many RUclipsrs are most concerned with.
      You're already on the right track with scanning your options and knowing beforehand which places would definitely not be good to go and get you into a scary situation. I always check out the mapping satellite and street views when looking at new places, helps a lot, like with other RUclips videos. For the Plymouth area for what you're looking for, it looks like the Tamar River and the distance from Hoe Park to Drake's Island would be nice spots for you when its a calm and nice day. I probably wouldn't go too past the Plymouth Breakwater, or if near the end of Plymouth Sound (by the ocean), I would stick closer to shore than I would in the open water by Drake's Island, just because of the power of the tides and ocean currents. It looks rather protected (more bay like with less current) from the Breakwater to Hoe Park and the confluence of the Tamar River.
      It looks to me that having the trolling motor would work best, because when in flatwater the oaring can tire one out pretty quickly with; it just takes so much effort to keep a steady pace of what it takes to walk. I'm going to upgrade my oars because they are too flimsy for me for the rapids and need more durability overall. Intex's website (intexcorp.com/products/sporting-goods/sport-series-boats/) offers stronger replacement oars, and the motor and its accessories as well. The "Transom Mount Trolling Motor" comes with the battery cables and mounting bracket, but not the actual Marine 12V battery or the Motor Mount Kit, which are sold separately. I feel the motor would allow you to experience more, with not having to spend so much time just trying to get out and back to shore, and you'll have more control in going the direction that you want to, and covering way more distance within Plymouth Sound and the Tamar River. And if the weather changes fast or a boat or its wake comes too close you can get out of the way faster.
      Maybe I'll see a RUclips video from you one day, would be awesome to see how it looks firsthand out there on the water in Plymouth Sound on a lovely sunny day! Let me know how it goes!

It would have been even more fun if I had already replaced the flimsy plastic oars with the longer aluminum oars for much better steering ability, applying for force to hit the converging wave head on, and for overall control. I had to backoff when in the crux of the action, with feeling the blade and shaft of the oars being at the verge of breaking in the swirling undercurrents. In fact, the couple, the part that connects the two shaft pieces together actually cracked and split when I was pushing over a rock, which I briefly show here and in its extended version: "Intex Seahawk 2: Whitewater Rafting on the Potomac River at Harpers Ferry (3.70ft., Millville)" - ruclips.net/video/L7SDJvI-J6Y/видео.html

    Use the oars to steer the boat - and head straight into the waves, not sideways.

    • @PotomacPassageOolikhanna
      @PotomacPassageOolikhanna  Год назад +1

      Greetings hntrains, as how I maneuver class III whitewater kayaking and class IV shredding, heading into the waves and riding the peaks was my intention with the Seahawk 2. I was using the oars to line up and steer the raft to the best of my abilities given the limited functionality of the oars; and getting knocked sideways was in response to the turbidity of the undercurrents in this particular section of the Potomac River (swirly and boily), which are not visible in the video, and which I had to back off the amount of force I was applying given the flimsiness of the oars (which was learned of during this test trip). This was also the debut trip in the Seahawk, and an overall test in how the stock oars would hold up. Longer, 48 inch aluminum oars (also by Intex) substantially increase the level of control, steering, and application of force. From the experience, I quickly learned that the stock plastic oars can easy snap in the hydraulics, as they are designed specifically for flat/calm water.
      I enjoyed watching the whitewater rafting video from your channel, looked like a fun and thrilling ride, and enjoyed the beautiful and lush scenery of the Maramures, Transylvaniaregion of Romania. Very neat to see that part of the world, from here in the United States, from the state of Maryland, and Harpers Ferry, West Virginia.
      Here is a later video of the same rapid, at a higher water level, with the stock oars: "Intex Seahawk 2: Rafting the Potomac River's White Horse Rapid, at 2.74ft. (POR), 3.7ft. (Millville) - ruclips.net/video/xYJLWaGFovQ/видео.html

      @@PotomacPassageOolikhanna, thank you, indeed, for the very detailed explanations!
      Why such oars are offered by Intex with such a boat is puzzling: the oars are only good for infants while the boat seems to be made for serious, adult users, from fishermen to adventurers like you, who are not afraid to go where others venture on professional, specialized rafts (I have already seen your other video showing the Seahawk as well as a few others on your channel; it seems like we are, both of us, curious to know more in our desire to better understand what we are interested in).
      My boat, the Mariner 3, would fall into a semi-pro category - at the very least. Having used it extensively (I did a two-month, 2,220-kilometre trip on it last year), I can confirm that the 48-inch aluminum oars are really good. If only the oar locks on the Seahawk were of the same type as on the Mariner! They do make rowing so much easier and efficient.
      So, fitting the Seahawk with such oars would be the first thing to do after getting the boat.
      I intend to get one for its size and weight, which seem to make it perfect for shorter trips.
      Where I live, there are no truly big rivers; but they can be wild, too, especially during the rainy seasons. I tend to think the Seahawk 2 would be great on them, especially if I can upgrade the boat by adding side rubber protection as well as an extra layer of material on the tube bottom side.
      We all like what we see elsewhere; how great, then, would it be if we could switch for a little while - for each of us to be able to enjoy the wonders the other country has to offer!

As an experienced whitewater kayaker, and familiar with the structural integrity of the kinds of materials that rafts are constructed with, I was excited to put the Seahawk II to the text, in testing the limits of its capabilities and given the unknowns and maiden whitewater voyage, I was feeling confident that it would hold up like a champ in these low water conditions, particularly given that the vast majority of the rocks are rounded and slick. I have another video of going through White Horse rapid in the Seahawk II at a much higher level, where the rocks were far beneath the water with big wave action - ""Intex Seahawk 2: Rafting the Potomac River's White Horse Rapid, at 2.74ft. Reason being is that I bought the Seahawk 4 with a trolling motor mount so I can fish in the calmer parts of the Potomac and Shenandoah. When I came upon your video I was taken back a bit as all the research I'd done on the Seahawk 4 indicated it wasn't for what you were doing. Seeing that you were just experimenting and have experience you were probably more than confident in what you were doing. So I appreciate all you said, you just never know when saying the right thing could save a life, and education is just the difference maker with using watercraft in their intended ways.
      That is so cool you are nearby too, and know of the one of a kind beauty out there on the Potomac and Shenandoah! Same with me, I did hours of research on recreational rafts, before feeling confident with the Seahawk Series, especially after seeing the heavy duty construction of their Mariner, and part of what I wanted to show was the whitewater capabilities of the Seahawk 2, as I only found on video out there of the Seahawk, the 3, being used in anything other than its intended uses - flat water and fishing, though I was surprised with how many videos I came across of the Seahawk, with the trolling motor, out in the ocean. I learned that the Seahawk rafts are like tents, in being advertised as fitting one more person than what's really comfortable. I feel the Seahawk 3 would be just right for two people, and just myself for bigger water. I do want to take it through White Horse again at higher water, than in this video and this medium level video - "Intex Seahawk 2: Rafting the Potomac River's White Horse Rapid, at 2.74ft. (POR), 3.7ft. (Millville)" - ruclips.net/video/xYJLWaGFovQ/видео.html, and see how it handles in the bigger waves, with a friend nearby for safety as getting to shore gets more difficult and hazardous with faster currents and less eddies/slack water close to shore. My confidence and river reading skills are way better than they were in from the time of these two videos, and know for sure I would need to upgrade to Intex's aluminum paddles, as the stock plastic ones nearly broke in the other video, from the force of the underwater turbulence and churning. Would be cool to see you out there one day, or link up on Facebook! Keep me updated on how it goes with the Seahawk 4!

      Greetings from the United States! I tried to translate your message, from Russian and got - Thresholds, are you serious? Is that correct?
      I thought it may have been its threshold on its debut whitewater voyage, but it performed like a champ.

      Привет из России 👋 я удивлён что по такой бурной реке плывёт человек на лодке которая может порваться даже об тростник. Или эта лодка крепче чем кажется?

      @@denisbertalesotundra1536 A happy hello to you Denis and Berta! This is the translation that I got: "Greetings from Russia 👋 I am surprised that a man is sailing on such a stormy river on a boat that can even tear a reed. Or is this boat stronger than it seems?"
      If it hadn't been for the experience that I gained from whitewater kayaking I likely wouldn't have been up for the whitewater experiment in the Seahawk. The knowledge that I picked up on the strength of the vinyl and the raft's durability helped a lot too in making this adventure a go. Yep, the Seahawk sure is much stronger, and stable than it appears. I had fully expected to get flipped over and be swimming to shore when taking on White Horse for the first time, even in low water. The bow hit the wave, rode right up like a ramp and soared over, charging through like a boss, and surprisingly keeping me above water, haha. The Seahawk 3 and the Mariner 3 would be fun to test out too!
      Here is another video of going through the same big rapid, White Horse (Harpers Ferry, West Virginia), but at a higher water level (relatively medium for the Potomac River), and after having gained much more experience in whitewater kayaking: "Intex Seahawk 2: Rafting White Horse Rapid (Potomac River) at 3.7ft. (Millville)" - ruclips.net/video/xYJLWaGFovQ/видео.html
      Have you ever been to the Far Ease region of Russia, or Kamchatka. The Kamchatka River looks so beautiful and wild!

    @6:35 into your video is why you shouldn't use this on this part of the Potomac River..you may have gotten away with this once but I wouldn't try it again..the Seahawk is durable but not for this type of water..
    What shouldn't be a shock is that most inflatable boat reviews and Intex will tell you it's not for this type of water..the other thing is you put your own life at risk and then the first responders..that's if you're even lucky enough that someone sees you flipped over and caught in the currents then they have to risk their life to save yours..

      Being an advanced whitewater kayaker and Eagle Scout, and trained in swift water rescue and first aid, I appreciate the safety concerns that you poignantly address, of which could potential serve as life saving information to others. Are you familiar with or recreate on the Potomac River, also known as "The Nation's River (penned by President George Washington)?

      @@ohcsdfvbjjgcgyjgdsfyygdtug5918 - here's how it translated "Yeah! you still have to learn and learn to use oars."
      The oars sure did take some getting used to, lots of practice to get the rhythm down to be able to have complete control when maneuvering.
