      Oh sweet, glad you liked South Mountain! I thought it was fun, but not very steep. We get spoiled with really, really steep trails here in the PNW! One day I'll manage to properly film an S turn manual, they take a lot of core strength to really pull off! Thanks for watching!

      Agreed, not much steep, but I sure enjoyed the punchy climbs. For some stupid reason I was entirely out of breath the while time I was climbing there.
      I def need to ride more pnw. I enjoyed tiger mtn when I was out there last, along with squamish, but I need to explore more trails there. @dustybetty and I will be out there this summer again. Can't wait.

      Hey Honda, that bike in the vid is actually a Mojo 3. But I've been using the same Ibis 742 wheelset for both bikes, and at the moment, I'm REALLY digging the WTB Convict 2.5 Tough High Grip in front/WTB Convict 2.5 Tough Fast Rolling rear. They were especially good in Phoenix, and work much better on the 29-35mm rim widths than on narrower rims. I like the Convicts here in the PNW as well, but they aren't quite as grabby as the Vigilante combos in the muck. However, on anything dry, they are more predictable than the Vigilantes.

  • @willbros1499

    Trail looks amazing man! Looks like your gimbal needs to be serviced, or maybe you should borrow from Jordan Boostmaster's idea of adding a few pennies to the gimbal to balance it out so that it stays level better. Not being critical...just know how annoying stuff like that can be when you go look at footage and say, "Oh crap...that looks like ass, and it was right on the coolest part!"
    Richard, Rob's brother, rides here in Northwest Arkansas very frequently, and he's fast. Not suprised that his brother is a rocket too. Thanks for the trail recap. We've been contemplating a trip to AZ, and this helped tilt the scale toward doing it! COOL trail, and amazing riding by both of you guys.

    • @JeffKendallWeed
      @JeffKendallWeed 6 лет назад

      Thanks Willbro, that's a great tip on the pennies. I'll check his vid to see the deets!
      Have been considering a trip to Bentonville myself, but kind of far for this year. Maybe next year. And yes, definitely go to Phoenix for a day, but spend a few days in Sedona while you're out there!

    • @willbros1499
      @willbros1499 6 лет назад

      Sedona is the location we're headed to. Two buddies rode out there last spring, and LOVED it. Cheap airfare to Phoenix, and then we'll just rent bikes and ride for a few days.
      I'm just ready for somoene to release a camera that stabilizes the footage and eliminates the gimbal. The new Rylo seems to do that to some extent, but there are still some limitations with it. Do you use the EVO SS and standard GoPro, or another brand of wearable Gimbal? I'm still on the Feiyu Tech and session. I've put off upgrading...hoping a "gimbal free stabilizing camera" comes out!

    • @JeffKendallWeed
      @JeffKendallWeed 6 лет назад

      Hey Willbros, Sedona is rad, and your plan will be killer! Dave Cichan at the Fat Tire in Sedona has taken GREAT care of us in the past, though all the shops up there are good. I use the Karma grip gimbal and a Hero 4 Silver. The Hero 6 has pretty good internal stabilization, but it's nowhere near as good as the Karma grip. I do think the Hero 6 on the helmet, combined with some high end stabilization software, could work just fine, and am thinking about trying that for a 2nd angle option. It just takes time and money!

    • @willbros1499
      @willbros1499 6 лет назад

      Thanks for the recommendations. One thing I LOVE about your videos is that you sincerely address the hikers on the trail, and even thank them for the space. ALL mountain bikers should do that, on camera or not!
      The buddies who went rented Evil bikes when they were there, and I'll have to ask them the shop name...might be the same one. The Karma is bulky for sure. I am worried about what's going to happen if I ever take one of those "quick diggers" where you're OTB and on the ground wondering, "WTH just happened?" only now, my sternum is probably broken in three places due to the Feiyu Tech gimbal. I don't care about 360* views...I just want good stabilization in one unit with no gimbal, with good image and audio quality. I think we're getting close to someone releasing one!

    • @JeffKendallWeed
      @JeffKendallWeed 6 лет назад

      I've hit my sternum really hard with a GoPro before, it didn't break but sure hurt like heck for 8 weeks. Gotta be super appreciative to all users we share the trails with!!! As MTBers, we have the weakest voice in trail access, so gotta kill them with kindness. I don't have any shop recommendations, unfortunately.

      That's what it's for though, right?! Might try mounting it upside down for more clearance next time I film a climb.

    When it looks sketchy from the go pro perspective, I can't imagine what that is like in person.

      Hahaha it's really tricky. If I weren't there with Rob, I probably wouldnt have figured out how to get up it.

    Granny gear on the steep techy stuff? And are you all clipped in?

    • @JeffKendallWeed

      As granny as I've got, that bike has a 34t chainring with a 42 cog in back. 170mm cranks for easier spinning, too.

      Jeff Kendall-Weed I think it’s just your riding style, and how much you move around on the bike. The gimbal hit your bars/stem a lot. I think that the gimbal was messed up after that from the repeated hits.

    • @JeffKendallWeed
      @JeffKendallWeed 6 лет назад +1

      It frequently loses the horizon regardless of the big g-outs and hitting the bars, someone mentioned a trick with balancing the gimbal better, I'll try that. It doesn't hit much on descents, much more on climbs, and they are not hard impacts.

    I went there this weekend and can say you filmed the easy part 2 of Waterfall. Kinda dishonest!

    Your poor gimbal/cam setup took a beating in this one.

    • @JeffKendallWeed
      @JeffKendallWeed 6 лет назад +1

      Haha yep! It's kind of bulky and smacks the bars easily.
