I actually wanted and got them for Christmas. Just because of your earlier videos😂
But the magnets do not really work.
Good to know. Thanks
working magnets can be found for cheap in any German gas station. with cigarette papers^^
@@couchcamperTM I actually have atleast two packs right here😂
Do the magnets make the gloves colder.
@@farmerwayne1404 I honestly can't answer that question. First, I don't have the comparison between the old and the new versions, second, the coldest I've worn them since Christmas was minus 5C and that was literally a walk in the park. Lockdown and stuff....
Well Grunts, it's about time I get this one up for ya'll!
Review a pair of these please: www.varusteleka.com/en/product/sarma-tst-mittens-w-trigger-finger/52898
Sarma seems to be a great brand, although a little expensive.
@@Christus_Vincit cool thanks!
Mittens so impressive to keep your hands warm.... 👍 Love your Vlogs 🇺🇸 Also Thank you for your Service, Courage and Sacrifice for freedom🇺🇸
I already wear, because of the rides with the Arctic Cat in winter lined leather motorcycle gloves. Well greased and additionally impregnated with beeswax. Are well protected against moisture for a few hours. When hiking in the mountains, where it is really cold, I would pull me well insulated heat protection gloves, with cuffs over. Of course impregnated. Logically, I am then at a cost of over 250€, but I have dry, warm hands and that for some winter.
Greetings from Frankfurt
Love the t-shirt!
Thanks for the review. Have a good evening
Excellent review again! Congratulations Randall!
Great breakdown Randal. Thanks
Nate
Thanks for your reviews!!
I do not have a use for those mittens but they did look nice, and the video was entertaining and enjoyable.
All the best.
Hey, Thank´s for showing! TH
Awesome review, Randall. Apparently Decathlon is not well known around here. I'm familiar with the company only because I was stationed in Germany during its inception in 1986 by the French athlete Michel Leclerq. Now with well over 800 stores world wide it offers sports gear for nearly every sport as far as I know. It won't be long before Decathlon becomes more recognizable as more You Tubers use the products such as Solognac. I have two pairs of mittens and one pair is from Thinsulate with wool glove inserts; waterproof, doubt it but they keep my hands warm in camp. The other pair I use for skiing and they are by Body Glove or Da Kine...buried in my clothing bug out bag in my Jeep.
Very nice review of your mittens. Looks so warm and comfortable.to use. Awesome video.
Thanks!
Thanks, got these on order for hunting this year, gets cold up in Canuckistan and it's annoying not being able to use a trigger without freezing hands.
Thanks for this. going to try them
They look wonderful
Wassup Grunt! Good Video Man I appreciate your work
I've got a heap of Solognac gear, the fleece lined abrasion proof waterproof hunting trousers are a standout. Paid £30, they feel like even if they were £130 they would still be great value.
Cheers Randall great review..
Thanks!
You can check out neoprene gloves, they are made from the same stuff as the fishing waders, that being said i don't really use them that rough and they have survived.
I remember those mittens from your earlier videos. I should update my mittens. I have the military extreme cold mittens, they're like wearing boxing gloves not much dexterity when wearing those!😄
Looks like a sweet pair of gloves, and at a damn good price. Excellent review brother!
Thanks dude!
Hey Randal, excellent video. Thank you! What about more comparing videos of army vs marines stuff? Like the rucks (filbe/ilbe vs army molle), happy suit vs marsh mellow, etc..
Love to! I have an ILBE that'll be covering soon, and besides getting booties, their happy suit is the same as our level 7. They just get the cooler color
I'm not a grunt but I am a hunter that hates the cold, and living in Canada that's a problem. I'm gonna get me a pair of those. Thanks.
Try neoprene gloves. Gauntlet style neoprene as used by duck hunters offer a good cold wet MANAGEMENT option. Duck hunting is all about wet and handling boats and decoys will eventually have water most everywhere.
Good vid, I like how you actually test gear before you recommend it, unlike most RUclipsrs. Is there any chance you could review the Snugpak Special forces bivy? So many people recommend it but no one makes a good review to say if it actually works.
Definitely! I will look into it. Thank you
So it sounds to be of the same silly design as their sleeping bags eh? I'll get one soon and try to destroy it.
@@GruntProof yeah it is just like their sleeping bags just a bivy. They claim it to be waterproof but no one tests stuff. The thing it really has going for it is how compact the bivy is.
Thanks
Solognac has some nice camo hunting clothing as well.
I would love to buy these if I could find a source in the USA. Great video as always ... love the reviews and trips.
The UK link should allow you to ship to the US
Bernie Sanders: I shoulda gone with the Solognac!
Solognac is the hunter series/brand and it has a very good price/quality ratio
Great review, I’d love to get these. FYI, your US link is directing to an EU site. I just checked the US site and there is no mention of the 900 series.
It's the problem with decathlon they will only ship to the country in which they are based . The decathlon's in my country don't stock a lot of the cold weather stuff / hunting clothing.
I'm gonna post some fully waterproof marigolds...haha great videos 👍🏼
Thanks for the review, I'll definitely be looking into more products from this company. Do you have any thoughts pro or con about putting a wax or other waterproof material on the US GI mittens? Keep the videos coming. Salute, Brother!
Thanks! I never messed with my issue mittens, because even when wet they'd be warm as hell. I've seen guys oil it and improve the resistance
Thanks they look warm. Have you tried the Canadian armed forces mittens. They work pretty good for me.
That's what I normally use....with flyers gloves or mortar gloves. Plus how can one not love the snot patch!!
Do you not have the Solognac 900 mittens in your Grunt Proof Merch section?
Merry Xmas, Randall. I've purchased a pair from decathlon Canada, and they offered 2 sizes in medium/Large and Xlarge and 2XL. I have size 11 hands and the 2xl is perfect.
When you removed the old crappy liner, did you leave the thumb portion in and just put your wool thumb in?
Thanks for the reviews and take care from Vancouver BC.
Yea I just cutout the 4 digit part. Thanks!
Sounds like some great mitts for that price . I have the BD Mitts and the ODR Alti's . But , when it's -10 or worse and I want dry , warm hands . The ODR Mutant Mitt's are the shit . I also have a few pairs of the old ECW military mitts . The Mutants KTA !! Oh BTW , with those Mutant's I have never got wet hands gathering woods , no matter the weather . I didn't know they had any Stores in the U.S. Judging by all the E.U guys I watch who use their stuff . Stock in that Company might be great idea , once the word spreads $$ . Hmm.... Stay safe .. gubs
ODR Mutant Mits are totally awesome.
I work in the Arctic. Gets minus 50...would they hold up ?
If you look for 100% waterproof gloves, look what they use for ice climbing. Gloves like komperdell ice pro.
I had one pair old model and my brother ordered one too but a new model one. Mine was kevlar reinforced on the palm and just resisted a scooter crash with hand reception on the hands. The palm was a bit used up but that's all. So Avery good quality, while the pair of my brother broke on a seal almost days after he received it and on normal use, no stress at all. So I don't know if it is the brand quality that went down or just bad luck on this one, but for the first one it is still going on after years.
Interesting
Here is the link to the brand and a model pretty much like the old one I still have. (But mine have kevlar only on the palm.
www.alpinsport-basis.de/Komperdell-Resistant-Pro-Glove_1
I put some glue stripes myself on the palm over the kevlar to have some grip. (I put the link for the pictures and the description, I don't know this website at all.)
And this is the brand page. It seems they stopped a lot of models, or they don't publish them on their website...
Anyway they have a 3 years waranty.

But the cheapest option if you wear mittens is to buy the British goretex mittens to put over your gloves or your mittens.
You can find them here (i have the camo ones in goretex i don't know for the green ones what they are but they shoud be goretex too).
www.britishmilitarysurplus.co.uk/shop/sale-items.html
I bought mines on this website.
Cool thanks!
@@Matthew_Australia I see what you mean for the kevlar but if you use them for anything like I do, from motorcycling to backpacking and some outdoor works in winter you are happy to have kevlar.
Where can I buy these??? The link doesn't work
Any recommendations on good bungee cords and what length work best for a tarp shelter?
Brigade Quarter Master - long
I'd like to buy a set, but cannot find them in the US. SOLOGNAC Warm hunting mittens only seem to be available in Europe. If anyone knows of a place in the US, let me know. Also, you should put them on your Gruntproof store.
cant find the right link. please help
🤔How did these compare to the extreme cold weather mittens that the military issues?
Trade off: not as warm but also not as clumsy
looks like they don't sell these anymore. jut came across your video
Cannot find them on decathlon usa web site. :-(
Try the UK site or decathlon.de and switch to English
🤙
What are the zippers for?
They make warm, water proof gloves and mitts. These are available on Amazon: www.jokasafe.fi/en/
This video approved by bernie sanders
Is there an actual United States website that sell these mittens? I tried your so-called US Site, it is a british site that will not accept an American address.
Where can I buy these now?
Decathlon website
Outdoor Research Alti Mitten . Maybe?
Link dead already. :(
I beg ya, glovelies would be exploding on the market if the marketing was aimed to hunting.
the insert is indeed junk. wool gloves inside makes them artcticproof
sealskinz branded gloves claim to be waterproof. made of neoprene. minimal installation. have used their socks continuously
They are NOT waterproof!
"army size large" Nice, did you see the dudes from the guard in DC... Guard size large is impressive.
Thinsulate gloves rule! Wtf happened to thinsulate. Gore tex is a gimmick, that shit is a joke. If you have cash, by shearling. Nothing tops shearling, if you have that kind of money. I wear neoprene outers by glacier co. Over zpacks possum down liners.
Fair priced=made in China.
