Perfect timing. I am planning a dress as a gift, but I had forgotten about this foot, resulting in wavy uneven edges on the dress I made for myself. Now I won’t be embarrassed if the recipient checks out the seams.
Hello, thank you for this. I’m very new to sewing. When I used my overcast foot for the first time and I changed the width, I broke a needle. I thought that was maybe because the width was too narrow and that the needle maybe hit that bar in the middle? I am trying to find information on this. It was okay when I followed the Brother manual guide exactly, but I feel afraid now to try different widths. I am interested in trying the one you did that imitates the serger’s rolled hem though. I’d like to find out more.
Please don’t get discouraged or frightened! We have ALL made mistakes while sewing that have cost us a needle or two - it’s all a learning experience! Wishing you well with your sewing journey!💕🧵🪡😀

Before you start a seam when checking widths, turn the wheel towards you and see if the needle hits the bar. Adjust tge width as needed.
