My god... This guy's teaching skills are amazing. Idk why but the way he repeats things that are important and says "listen to me" really works for me lol
I ended up learning about these through the school of hard knocks at my second job. We wrote services to process orders. Services are built to do one thing really well: Run a block of code continuously until told to stop. So it was very ideal. On the other hand, they wanted to control it from a front end webpage, which didn't work out because no IT guy is going to unblock the ports needed to do that (the ports used to talk to the Service Control Manager can be used by a malicious user to learn all sorts of things about your operating system).
@@TechsavvyProductionsyour content is really amazing. Do you have general tips for learning Windows programming? My education was very abstract and the info I find on working in Windows is either very piecemeal or assumes a certain background. Information like this is really simple to understand and gives a great overview
My education was the same, but continue to add experience whenever possible. As for programming, you can try a community college track to see if that is what you really want to do before investing four years and a lot of money in a four year degree.
All around great teaching. Does anybody know if he has similar content on Linux or Mac? or any other channel that covers any of those 2 OS in such dept as Professor Vanderpool does?
I just finished four new videos on Windows Troubleshooting, here is the 1st one: ruclips.net/video/OXvGAAnu7FE/видео.html So sorry I am just getting to your comments! Thanks for watching! I am working hard on keeping up with the great questions and comments from the RUclips community. Again apologies for not responding within a reasonable time frame.

Incorrect! Services are nothing more than programs that do a specific thing. They can be "complicated" but there is also very dumb Services, so it's not correct to say they are "all super complicated"!

My students hated it but when they are falling asleep it worked.

Very informative. But someone was yawning during the entire session. :D Now I am yawning too.

Too much yawning
I also commented on the yawns before I saw someone beat me to it. shame on that dude tho
Wish my college actually taught me these things instead of teaching me rubbish that I don't even care about or need for my future career.
Agreed. Traditional colleges don't seem to prep you for real world but mostly theory.
Great lesson Mr B!
