    babolat starting clamps are the best, great to see others using the starting clamp behind the machine clamp. Nice video

      Thank you. Yes, you really notice a difference compared to others. Tools are almost as important as the machines 👍

    Do you have your favorites for poly cross strings with gut mains? What are some of your favorites. Most people don't want to spend $20. a set for Luxilon like the pros. I am looking for a poly cross that marines well with natural gut to give you maximum playability. Right now I am using Hyper-G 20 gauge poly. The Solinco Hyper-G 20 in my gut / poly hybrid was arrived at by trying every other string in the Solinco line in 18 or 20 gauge (if available). Prior to that, I play tested numerous slick smooth rounded polys (dozens) to see which ones performed best. My top five previously priced under $14. a set were (in order): 1) Yonex Pro Tour FIRE 1.20; 2) Weiss CANNON Silverstring 17; 3) Kirschbaum Pro Line EVO; 4) Mayami Hit Pro 1.25; and, 5) MSV Co-Focus 17L (1.18). Just ordered Tier One GHOSTWIRE and Grapplesnake Tour M8 (which I have heard good things about. What would you top three polys be for cross strings with gut?

      It's quite subjective but Yonex Rev is always a good option and I have a few people who love the regular Yonex PTP (has to be yellow) with gut or multi. Tecnifibre Red Code is worth trying in a thinner gauge as well.
      Interesting you settled on Hyper G in a thin gauge, it's a great string but I find that premature wear is an issue - it tends to slice the gut or multi a little.

      @@stringdoctor6238 thank you very much for your reply and suggestions. I have use the Yonex string in the past and enjoyed it. I thought perhaps the solinco would generate a bit more string in the thinner gauge a bit less surface friction, adding up to increased snap back. The decreased life of the gut is an unfortunate trade-off. Normally the poly goes dead before the string breaks however. It sounds like you’re not a fan of very thin gauged polys and these gut/poly hybrids?

      @stringdoctor6238  Год назад

      @@markmoorefineart7453 personally I think the thinner the better (from a playability perspective) but putting my stringers hat on most people I string for rather a little more durability. You are correct about poly going dead often before it breaks though. It's interesting to see some people with poly in their rackets for weeks/months. They just don't notice the gradual drop off, then realise the difference after a restring!

      @@stringdoctor6238 that was one of my issues with Yonex strings is that their Polys only go down to about 17 gauge. What are your favorite thinner polys for this purpose based on your experience?

    • @stringdoctor6238

      Hyper G and Confidential are great and really suit the thinnest gauge. TF Ice Code is superb (if you can get over the fact it's white)!

    I'm 55 years old playing tennis everyday. I'm presently using Yonex 850 16g multi filament @ 52 lb on the mains and Red code 17g @ 48 lb on the crosses in my babolat pure drive GT (16 x 19 stiff frame). Is there any better arm friendly options of hybrid set-up in the racket ?
    I also have a Head Microgel Radical midplus 98 (18 x 20) flexible frame). Kindly suggest few arm friendly hybrid set-ups for that also.

    • @stringdoctor6238
      @stringdoctor6238  2 года назад

      So if you want to go super arm friendly, I'd suggest a thinner multi a Yonex Rexis Comfort is amazing, but not too durable and Tecnifibre X-One is the king. I would suggest that durability would be about the same in a hybrid setup as with a full bed of multi. So if the aim is to look after your arm, then perhaps just switch to full bed of multi. Also worth adding a little bit of weight to the head of the racket and perhaps increasing grip size (can be easily and cheaply done) to also help with elbow issues.

      Probably also worth saying that Babolats are generally a little bit stiffer than most rackets (which won't help your arm) and the Head MG Radical MP has a denser string pattern than most rackets - so you might want to reduce tension even more.

    Which string you are using here. As I too have babolat pure strike 100 racquet and Rmp blast string. But I don't feel comfortable with string. Kindly recommend good string for Babolat pure strike 100 / 300gms for women

      Hi there in this video I’m using Tecnifibre Red Code (poly) in the mains at 45lbs and Tecnifibre Multifeel (multifilament)at 50lbs in the crosses, set up for comfort.

    Do you notice any advantage using the Diablo on polys? Thought it was just for softer strings so the tension head doesn’t crush/damage the string. Or is it just habit?

    • @stringdoctor6238
      @stringdoctor6238  2 года назад +1

      I always use the Diablo. Yes it's designed to protect the string but it also regulates the pull as it means that tension is always pulled at the same angle.

      @@stringdoctor6238 brilliant thankyou 👍🏼 would be great if you could upload more tennis related clips. Also where can I purchase the pad which you use on the outside of the frame to protect from the starting clamp? I can’t find them anywhere!

      Sure thing, will upload some more tennis rackets soon. Regarding the pad, if you search Parnell Pad on Google, you'll be directed to the website. Richard Parnell is based in Spain but will ship to the UK. It won't cost you too much extra and they're really good quality.
