I like that you made the point its not perfect. Far better that you accomplished what you did and you are happy. Great job. I could have never done that.
Jeesh. Soft decks are awesome. You can lie down anywhere and the deck conforms to your shape. Now you have to use cushions that blow away in the wind. lol. And after that statement, I'll have another sip of my drinkish. Sorry, lol that came up and couldn't resist. I love your videos right up to the St Lawrence.
Thanks Buck! We definitely learned a toooon... hopefully that knowledge is useful in future endeavors 😁 For the winter we will hopefully head down into the Keys and get some sunshine + clear water. At this second we are anchored in Georgia and its finally getting warmer! Cheers
So proud of you for tackling such a major project👍👍👍. Great job researching the process, tools, wood, etc. and completing the decks. A major accomplishment.
You have so much to be proud of with this project! It is a huge undertaking and I speak from personally testing when I say they are SOLID!!! You all did such a great job!
Nice job both of you. Getting this done with a rain surprise is worrisome for sure. We envision doing many similar projects on our future boat. We admire your willingness to dive in with the right research to many projects as first timers!
Great job you two! As my Dad used to say to me you can either think you can or think you can’t…… either way you are right! Keep up the good work, you’ve got a fine ship!
We used Kiwi Grip on our sailboat and it was so easy to work with. We even used it inside on some of the nonskid in the galley and head. Loved it. Great job!
Well done you guys! Looks quite fine to me. Now for those wood work. Leaving the wood to deteriorate like that will only lead to more work and money... Your boat actually has some pretty nice woodwork, so it will be good to ensure it is in good shape as I'm sure it will make that boat looking pretty good!
Thanks Paul! I’m curious what will happen if we let the teak continue to go natural grey? That was our original plan, but the varnish looks good on the doors, which would be a pain to remove and strip. So there’s work either way…
You guys are definitely an inspiration to me. I've never done fiberglass work before. I have a 30 ft fly bridge with a large soft spot on the bow. Not leaking inside yet but can't be far off. I'm retiring this winter and should have the time, but getting over the fear of starting is the hard part.
Thanks Charles! You can definitely do it! Time is your friend for learning and accomplishing what you set out. I'd definitely suggest starting small and giving your self plenty of time. It'll take a lot of the stress out of it! Plus always remember that with fiberglass any problems can be reversed... it may take more time x materials but nothing can't be un-done. Hope that helps getting over the fear!
Having been there/done that on my soft decks I think you did a great job! A lot of dirty, gritty work but worth it. Especially liked the kiwi grip approach. Happy journeys to you both.
I think that is a neat idea, I'd be down to try it! Since Pivot is a classic old trawler, I'm not sure it would just fit, but I think it could work if we consider the general aesthetic!
Hi Scho and Jo saw your videos many times especially one in which A and K visited your boat We are an Indian family of 3 I saw where you were in India for a bit and actually your feeder has Indian cheese lol we live on Kent island not sure where you guys exactly are may be Crisfield may be we can meet you both one day and take you for a cup of coffee
Oh awesome, thanks for saying hi! We absolutely loved visiting India and look forward to returning one day. Our friend in Jodhpur said we would be invited to a wedding soon so 🤞. Coffee sounds great if it works out. Cheers!
@@SchoandJo are you guys ever in Kent island with your boat If you would like we can have you guys at our home we live On Kent island can make chai and some snacks Are you now in Crisfield ?
@@aprettyday9854 Unfortunately we are not in Crisfield anymore. We left shortly after Veterans day and now are currently in Georgia. We will be coming north again, I don't know if we will be on the Eastern Shore but quite possibly! Chai would be fantastic 🙏
Yes we did! We bought new headliner from sail rite, and then followed their instructions for installing it onto new wood. We used the old headliners as templates for the new wood and it went well. Best advice would be to try and follow the sail rite instructions to a T specifically around drying time. Cheers!
Haha, thanks so much John! Next up we wrap up getting Pivot into seaworthy shape and we head southbound to some warmer weather. Then Loop 2.0 in the early spring!
Congrats on a HUGE PROJECT completed! 👏
Thanks so much!
I think y'all did an awesome job having built and rebuilt boats my whole life i think your work was pretty spot on. Awesome job👍
Thanks!!
GREAT job on the decks!! 👍🏽

haha! I though the best part was the "trampoline", fun to jump around!
Nice job!

I always wondered how the non-slip texture was applied and now I know. Keep up the great work!

Aww thanks y'all! We reeeaaaallly wanted to have it done for when y'all visited but alls good, we had a blast anyways!! 😁
Awesome job not sure about jumping into that but I missed the link on what not to do. Keep having fun.

No way I could be even thinking of painting in November. All outside boat work better be done by sep 15 or you are out of luck.
We definitely pushed it for being in Maryland! I'm sure in Alaska is quite different haha
North I hope 🤞
South to warmer weather then North next year 😁
SALUTE!!!
A Cajun in Morgan City, LA. told me to use GoJo to wash grease & other chemicals out of my hair. It did 😮
Ahh GoJo is the real stuff, works amazing!
