- Russia has upgraded its TOS-1A Solntsepyok heavy flamethrower system to improve its accuracy. According to the Vladimir Pimenov, the CEO of the Signal Research Institute, they were able to improve the accuracy due to a new navigation system. During an interview, Pimenov said the new system “improved the accuracy of the operation to single metres." The upgrades comes as Rostec said that it is developing a new heavy flamethrower system TOS-3. During an interview with Tass, Rostec official also said Russia is creating a new line of improved tank shells. Watch the video to find out more.

Actually the TOS can be accompanied with some other vehicles like BMPT Terminator to prevent enemy drones and ground troops. As for the tank's shell, the versions that Ukraine have does not come with those special thick plates that are hanging at both sides of the tank. But usually, the tanks are getting hit from the top or rear, so should be no problem.

They have to make a longer range at least 40km.
There is no need for that. It's not MLRS, but MBRL. That is by design. The difference is - MLRS will never be able to shoot at point blank so it can't be used in assault at moment notice. MBRL is able to shoot at point blank acting like a heavy flamethrower system. The long range capable TOS-1A is actually Tornado-S with missile by designation 9M529 which is also thermobaric munition but with a much higher firepower due to 300mm caliber and 90km range which are also being used in this conflict.
How long is this warfare going to endure ?
At this stage keeping on fighting seems just meaningless to me : Ukraine won't have neither it's eastern regions nor Crimea back while Russian Fed. won't be able to achieve any further territorial gains.So is it still worth dying ?
This war is not about territories for Russia, but about eliminating threats to national security from Ukraine and NATO. Ukraine is already done and demilitarisation of Ukraine now turned into demilitarisation of NATO. The longer it continues the worse it will be for NATO and Ukraine. More likely it will end not later than middle of next year, maybe even by the end of this year.

But does it really matter if one battery is capable of wiping out thousands of poor Ukrainian blokes by the time it would be taken out by a drone? Does it really cost effective if the weapon already served to it's purpose at large? TOS by design is used when there are enemy formation in vicinity. The nature of this weapon suggests that there couldn't be any survivors. Whenever it was used, it was used with a guarantee for opponent to take significant casualties. The cost ratio of losses from TOS and losses of TOS systems can't practically be effective to the opponent side because of nature of this weapon. Otherwise Russia wouldn't be using TOS so extensively. They are using it because it works, because the ratio of losses is cost effective. When something doesn't work for Russians, they will simply stop using it. If they are keep on using it, that only mean it is working on grand scale of things and we don't see the grand picture to know why.

This makes me wonder if Russia is now using the Chinese Bei Dou navigation satellite system, which according to all reports has accuracy down to centimeter's. Which is vastly more accurate than the U.S. GPS navigation system. Along with its military capability, It is also in common use in China for use by the navigation systems of their driverless busses and taxis.
