This is one that's easier to appreciate in retrospect. For what it is and the hardware it's on, how few people worked on it and how quickly it was developed, this game is pretty dope.
When it comes down to it is Simulator reviews they have to be reviewed with special consideration. Simulators aren't always "fun" to a person who is not into them.
You can actually change the speed of how fast the game controls, which makes the low framerate more tolerable. This was one of my favorites, right along side of a certain hedgehog..
The Mega Drive has enough horsepower to handle some nice early 3D games. F-22 Interceptor is a good example of this. From what I've played, it's a solid game all-around, especially for newcomers in the flight sim genre. Other nice 3D games on the system are F-15 Strike Eagle II or M-1 Abrams Battle Tank. Give those a go if you haven't already!
No Swear says the game is family friendly, but the game over screen ended up scaring me for years. It shows an EKG with a skull and the phrase YOU'RE DEAD in big red letters on its screen as you flatline. It's basically an early example of a screamer without the screaming part.
I've only just got this game for my Mega Drive so many years on. I'm finding it addictive and frustrating in equal parts. The worst thing is the manual missiles controlling the same way as your plane, why?! They don't have wings, they don't need to rotate!
The review failed to mention the Combat Aces mode. An arcade style dog fighting story mode. Frantic and exciting dog fighting against the best pilots from every country.
Wait, so a war game is family friendly, but not Mighty Max? Not that MM is good, but you need to pay attention more to Veterans Day/Remembrance Day. Lest we forget.
+Handy thehandle I made a joke about Mighty Max not being family friendly (watch out penguins!), but yes it is pretty tame game. YMMV with military action. For instance, you could make the case that Combat on the 2600 is not family friendly if you consider death being a part of the action, but since you don't see anyone die, I'm guessing most players don't see it that way.

I guess I'm odd, but I really liked this game.
Dubstepdad Still very much love this game.
Same here! I still go back to this game it's a whole lot of fun.
Combat Aces. Am I right?
I love the variety of games on the Genesis, especially when foreign titles are taken into consideration. Lots of niche gems in the library.
3:38 ? LOVED this game...Rented it easily 30 times from Blockbuster!

This was my first flight sim... I loved this game so much when I was little.

You're right! I'm sorry I missed that! I don't recall seeing that, so perhaps I didn't see that screen when I reviewed.
@@thenosweargamer1449 This game needs to be rebooted for today's consoles.
Good modern review, well done. When I got this game back in the 90s it was amazing, I had never experienced anything like it.

Many hours playing this as a kid. My wife got me a genesis and I am getting this from eBay
awesome review played this when I was young
I used to fly my guided missiles back at myself and blewd myself up
The narrator is wrong. They test flew the prototype before the game was released.
