The jacket is rated for 20-60 degrees. Great review! I was curious to see how quiet it is. I’m glad I ordered it and can’t wait for it to get here

It’s dead quiet! To get anywhere below 40 degrees though you are going to need some decent under layers.

Nice review. I am also considering changing from the Stratus to the catalyst primarily due to how bulky the Stratus is for packing into public land for whitetail hunts. I am really enjoying First Lite’s latest offerings, and find that they are replacing many of my beloved Sitka items. This summer I am most anxious to get my hands on the First Lite Guide Lite pants to compare against the Sitka Ascent and Kryptek Valhalla pants for early season hot weather pursuits.

I hope to get my hands on a pair of Guide Lites as well! I actually ended up selling this jacket. I couldn’t find a really good place for it since I’m mostly a Midwest stand hunter. I’m going to try out the new solitude jacket this year and see how that goes. My perfect system has been lightweight merino layers and the Sanctuary jacket.

@@treyarentz1328 Hey Trey - do you have any experience with the solitude line up? I see from the video and comments that you were that this catalyst setup didn't provide the insulation or wind stopping power you were looking for. Mostly interested in a piece that I can put in a few miles during the day and sitting down for a few hours either in a stand or on the ground in Northern NY were temps range from 15-40 deg.

I have plenty of merino and puffy base layer options. Was considering the catalyst and carrying a light puffy in my pack to layer in when sitting. Catalyst wouldn't cause me to overheat on the move. But curious what you may have found with the solitude

Trey thanks for the review.. I’m getting some First Lite gear and I’m also in WI and exactly the same size as u... I got the Sawtooth jacket (L) and it’s an athletic fit but the sanctuary set I just rec’d the bibs feel good in large but the jacket seems big .. do u have them both in the large.. I guess for layering it would be good

    • @treyarentz1328

Yep I have both in large and it is perfect with layering!

Hey man, great video! have you tried the Sawtooth Hybrid? If so, how does it compare to the Catalyst for insulation? Are they similar? I have a very high cold tolerance and am thinking of getting the Sawtoothas my go to early-mid season jacket

Joel Aubrey hey Joel thanks much! I don’t have any experience with it, but I know it’s more of a hybrid hoodie. The Catalyst has a fleece liner that’s actually decently warm and it’s pretty wind proof. The Sawtooth is like wearing any merino sweatshirt with the insulation in the front chest area. I would say go catalyst if your looking for a jacket. Durability of this jacket would overrule the sawtooth as an outer layer as well. Hope this helps!

Joel, I have the Sawtooth jacket. I love the jacket but it is ment for warmer weather and great if your moving. The back has no insulation, the chest and shoulders are the only spots really insulated. I wear the jacket in 45-60 temps. something to note is that the sawtooth does not cut the wind so keep in mind. hope that helps.

Would still recommend this over stratus? I’m looking at both now, the new stratus that is?

The Rut Nut definitely not. It does not cut any wind at all. I sold it shortly after doing thus video. Anything with a windproof membrane would rule over that jacket

Trey Arentz how do you like your solitude? Im coming from scent blocker fleece and was going to go catalyst route because i dont like sitka camo for early fall

@@zachschultz3534 I actually don't have the solitude. I have the sanctuary right now and am just about to get the woodbury. I figure with the woodbury and a windproof layer underneath and a puffy if needed it would be very versatile.
