Really enjoyed the video, I’m just starting out in watercolour and having trained as a graphic designer and worked as a commercial & advertising photographer where precision I’d required it’s a big step to become less uptight with the image. I’ll definitely check out some of your other videos.
Think I learned more from this video than all the videos I’ve watched in the last 2 years. A few things just clicked with me during it. Thank you., loved it.
you are a master at work proud to have the same name and working to one day get to you level of body of work so excellent your tone your contrast your cold and hot colors just a master at the craft n so detail in your concept to create. i love watching you the best
Sandi some of the landscape sketches made my heart jump! They were beautiful. And I couldn't agree more take time for sketching practices they've the doorway to a masterpieces ❤
I like the idea of this exercise. Thank you. However, since you have the photo on your iPad, there is so much glare on it that it is impossible to see it well.
I am still laughing: “A man in the horizon”, LOL!!! Loved it! A tiny mistake, I mean, the brush almost fell off your hand, and you painted an entire man, hahaha! Great exercise - thanks for sharing!
Love your technique!
I really enjoyed watching you work. I’m pretty uptight, I don’t enjoy being that way, watching this helps make me feel looser. I’m off to try it. TY!
‘How much detail do I need to tell the story?’ Excellent point. Thank you!
Wow, this is just the kind of exercise I need to get out of my head. Thanks!

What a fantastic tutorial. I hope I can incorporate this concept in my own projects. Thank you!
What a great idea. Thank you. I had one difficulty, though. Since you had the photo on your tablet, there is so much glare I could not see it well.
You have made complicated process so easy. Thank you very much for this exercise.
This is an excellent way of learning to paint as you reduce it to the basics. Thank you so much!
Love this painting so much! I’m curious as to how you would want to paint it, if you were to make it into your idea of a full painting.

Great demo and commentary. Thanks Dan!
Good suggestions and helpful. I'll give it a try and might use the same concept to get 'loose' on my Plein air oils next time!
Amazing! It is only a sketch for you, but it is my goal for a finished painting- long way to go
Fresh as can be. You’re the master of ‘loose’ Dan. Superb. TFS.

Is this a hand made pallet?
Świetna lekcja .
Your information was just what I was looking for. I can paint very realistically but find it’s not as interesting as loose.
👍
Too bad the reflection on the glass distored My view of your subject...😢
Interesting exercise and fun, but what you did to your paint brush pains me!
just what I need to get away from tooo much detail. Thank you.
Tooooo much repetitive talking!
