  • UDOM Khmer restaurant-in Cambodia Town, Long Beach California. The owner he used to own a small restaurant called Monorom which I featured in the first episode and he sold it and opened Udom- which is a Khmer name; name after himself.
*Please go watch it if you haven’t. It’s on the first episode of my RUclips channel.* Thank you!!
I've been to this restaurant a few times already and other events like weddings and birthday parties.
I spoke to the sister owner to see if I could get some exclusive kitchen shots, she says they’re busy (getting ready for an event that day) and also, she told me they turned down a company media outlet (Cambodian company) that represents “ Cambodian Businesses Week” .. due to they’re busy work schedule…. And she never had time to reply back to them….
…. After I was done eating the owner came in and I spoke to him for a few minutes regarding what I was doing as a foodie content media guy… and he told me to let him know ahead of time.
Btw, weddings and birthday parties are his bread (money) maker. But now let’s get back to the food content.
They serves Khmer authentic food(s). What I got are... the duck with rice and side of pickled cabbage and carrots- w/sweet sauce. The duck still tastes fresh.
Sometimes you get the unlucky one and it has that stall smell which means old. The meat is very chewy for most of the part even though people compared to chickens. More chewy and not tender like chickens.
Also, it has a different taste to it. A little gamy. The duck wasn't bad overall good experience. Next are, Norm: Khmer dish name-another alternatives of papaya salad without the fermented fish and shrimp paste and other elusive ingredients....
... I got the raw shrimp coated with lime to killed the bacteria and semi-cooked the shrimp also, to make the taste more citrus like ceviches sorth of that comparisons... that covered with slice papayas and slice carrots and offsets with mint leaves and lime incorporated-with crunchy peanuts on top. It's very refreshing and satisfying.
It's a good place if you're looking for good quality Cambodian food for the value.
