So Kazuya as we all know is desperate to have a girlfriend after breaking up with Mami and took an online service of rental girlfriend that is Chizuru and we all know that Kazuya and Chizuru has become close in the anime and with Ruka too and maybe with Sumi as well. So one day when Kazuya was going out in for groceries he saw Chizuru with a handsome and lean man, probably that that Chizuru was in a rental relationship with that guy because of her job as a rental girlfriend. And since Kazuya and Chizuru are Close to being called as friends (with feelings) so naturally he gets jealous. But, his insecurities got triggered. He compares himself with that man with Chizuru how clearly opposite they are. He looks like a wimp compare to that guy and he just has average looks compare to him as well and he thought him and Chizuru would stop hanging out or being a rental girlfriend for him because of that. So he left without showing himself to Chizuru. On his way back he thought of maybe hanging out with Ruka but Ruka herself hasn't showed up to him for the past week. He doesn't know that Ruka was in another country with her family on a family trip. And Ruka forgot to write a letter to him about it. So his insecurities got triggered again and thought that maybe Ruka got tired of him. And left without warning. I mean who would want to stay with a guy who's a pervert with average looks and personality. And when he wants to call Sumi, he didn't get an answer unlike everytime he calls Sumi would always pick up his calls every second.(this is in the au btw and not in canon rent a girlfriend.) And his insecurities triggered once again in the same day that maybe Sumi doesn't want him anymore. I mean why would a cute girl like her want to spend time with a person like him? So insecurities got the better of him and hated himself for being like that. He hated himself so much and got depressed everytime he thinks about stuff like that.( Oh yeah this is just the AU is Kazuya is a first year and his family is rich...well not that rich just a little above average. So because of his insecurities he stop coming to school and go home to his family for isolation. He homeschool himself for 2 years and trained at the same time. His insecurities, hatred for himself and depression are the fule for his dedication in becoming a new person. He always train and studies everyday without sleep and sometimes would breakdown because of the hellish training. Training all kinds of martial arts and studied everything a normal human cannot do or know. One day he's insecurities, hatred for himself and depression slowly faded away along with his emotions...and he just felt cold and empty, and started to think all humans are nothing but insignificant beings or tools... He never smiled and thought of perverted things ever again when he started his training. And thus making him Ayanokouji Kiyotaka. He changed his name because he wants to be forgotten as Kazuya and wants to be remembered as Ayanokouji Kiyotaka. Well how bout that? Oh yeah the girls are depressed by the way when he disappeared without word. And the girls will be in a different university that is the rent a girlfriend university. The ANU( advance Nurturing University) is the most prestigious university in Japan with 0.2 percent acceptance rate and we all know that, that school doesn't just based of on academic it also based on talents and defects.
