@Gerry Freeman let me voice my opinion about you. That comment made you seem really quite ugly. I'm a bit disgusted at your way of thinking and your need to voice an opinion that is not beneficial to others. I hope you change that about yourself one day.
When I first saw him I had assumed that he was albino, but he is indeed of the most humble polyglot in the language community, really enjoy listening to him!
Richard is very humbled & honest guy to be able to speak 40 languages he's the greatest polyglot in tje planet I've heard he's relly fluent in over 26 & he should hold a record guiness for that!!! for some reason his brain must be programmed to learn languages fast undoubtedly &needless to say he LOVES languages i admire him so much &hope to meet him somedayi can speak 3 languages on ac level one on a b2 level & thelast &fiftj on ab1 level compare to 40 languages my languages are peanuts... Im looking forward to meet him in 2020 at the polyglot conference. .
@ joe tyler first i'd like to apologize, for not answering you, actually i am taking care of my 91 yr old mother & never had the time to read or continue reviewing languages i want to start learning arabic.i speak my mother tongue spanish, english, italian on a c1 level, portuguese at the end of b2 level & french on b1 level...take care of yourself God bless you!
I suspect he works hard at language learning, and he listens a lot. I could be wrong, perhaps he is gifted. I’m sure he’s said that he isn’t, then again he is modest!
What he mentions about getting a texbook and using it in his own way as he makes it relevant for himself at minute 4:55, I kinda find that a little overwhelming. I mean, this might work for some people like him, but it would definitely not work for me. I find texbooks really boring and I get distracted pretty soon, besides most of the dialogs textbooks bring are usually boring.
A textbook can be boring but sometimes u don't have a near place to take good language classes. Also for me finding a good book for the langauge i'm learning was really hard because i had to find something suited for self study not for a classroom so had to do a lot of googling and try books that didn't work
Agree. C level is where it gets the most fun. You can read, watch movies, understand jokes/ wordplay and generally enjoy the foreign culture without opening a dictionary every minute.
Thats your goal but other people just prefer the number and thats ok you are not special if you go for fluency instead of the number of languages you need to be humble
@@шашалакоәмпанадахихихи Getting near native level fluency is a special achievement though. Not that that person is better. Or has some special gene or intelligence. But it's very impressive and admirable.
Richard has face that just makes you want to smile and be happy- he looks like such a kind soul🥺💕
I wasn't ready for his beard. That must be where he hides his secrets. He is such a pleasant guy.
@Gerry Freeman So u imagine yourself the most beatiful person at the age of 50-70+
???
You're a bit of an asshole tho

@Gerry Freeman Sure you voiced your opinion, but what is he going to do about you finding him ugly? It's just an insult, nothing else.

Thank you Steve and Richard!!!🙋🏻
Two great hiperpolyglots. May God keep blessing them a lot.
Which god?
@@Rustynuckles1 that is what I was thinking Nick ! Also, what has a non existent being got to do with language learning? Weirdos !

Great interview! Thanks for sharing!
Loved the bit where Steve said "hmhmmm"
Moltes gràcies per pujar el video. Thanks for the video!

I suspect he takes it apart, figures out for himself how it all works rather than reading it through from cover to cover in order. That’s my guess.
Richard is a modest guy
How did it go learning 4 languages at the same time?
Nice beard Richard 👍
secret is don't waste time shaving
Great interview...Very helpful
Great beard! May it become massively majestic some day!
The language community is unity
Very impressive

Peace and love from Egypt I love Canada: )
your videos are good. but you gotta give a better attention for the audio. most of them are reaaly low.
💗
oh he's grown a beard lol
I thought that he couldn't look more unusual...I was wrong.
Kieron Hoswell and his lip tho as well
what he says at 2:01 like san...
The interviewer interrupts his guests way too often. I wish he would let the guest finish his sentences and fully express his thoughts.
richard look's like hugo strange
I like his beard
I'm dreaming, but I would probably prefer to learn 8 languages to C level, rather than know 20+ languages to A2 / B1 level.
8 at C without living in all those countries might be impossible no?
Yes, according to some language learning experts.

Why would they call him a polyglot?
It looks like he has only one tongue
Can you let him speak UHUM YEAH UHUM UHUM.UGUM

No, Bulgarian.

big teeth mean big eater?
I wonder if he would lose his language skills if he shaved c.f. Samson?
Er hat einen starken accent, es ist nicht einfach für mich zu verstehen .-.
He's a native speaker...
I think that usually the english accent of normal conversation is more difficult to understand than the american or canadian accent.
Dein Englisch ist nicht gut genug
He has a soft Scouse accent to my ears, a pleasant regional form. Yes he’s not as forceful as SK, and more softly spoken.
The bigger difference than the "formal education" distinction is that Richard indeed masters some of those languages, whereas Steve does not. Sorry?
Is the guy at the right side the one that killed his whole family with a hammer while they were sleeping in Jim Carry's film?
I’m going out on a limb here, but no. He’s more likely to buy his family ice creams, and spoil them with niceness.
he should shave a beard
He needs to shave..
What's wrong with having facial hair?
No he needs to hide his teath some how, or fix them... but thats not important here
@@Rustynuckles1There is nothing wrong with his teeth. He’s English, and we don’t have perfect teeth, unlike North Americans.
@@StillAliveAndKicking_everyone knows brits don't have good teeth 😂
