@@MissMocha If they don't want it, then they don't want it. I don't understand people's need to tell others how they should have kids because it's the "best thing in the world". Please refrain from this.
Contractions were so awful, I was crying and I wasn't even 5cm dilated 😅 my husband said he never wanted to make me feel that kind of pain again, so we are probably not gonna have another
@@Segen_BellI don’t think that was their intention, I think its more like "baby is worth the pregnancy" than "every woman should have a baby" but I get your point
No, no, no way - don't use the giant pads. Please trust me on this. Get adult diapers. Thank me later. Also, get an upside down period bottle, it's *infinitely* better than what the hospital gives you. Also, that "1 pad per hour or less" thing is VERY important, please, please remember that. Me learning that from a RUclips video literally saved my life. Being induced with Pitocin made me hemorrhage 6 hours after delivery - I lost about 2 liters of blood overall, in less than an hours that's after the nurses started paying attention, too. I told the nurse I was cleaning WAY too much. She looked in the toilet, said "no that's normal, you're fine." And because I had seen videos like these, I knew, & told her, no, I've used 4 adult diapers in the last few minutes. Her face went white & she RAN out to call the doctor, who came sprinting in. If I hadn't known that, I would have lost a lot more blood, & who knows if they'd have gotten to it fast enough that way. I was starting to have that horrible feeling you get when you're bleeding out & about to lose consciousness, my vision was tunneling, it was very scary. Thank God for RUclips, at least when it comes to stuff like this.
@@JJ-di5vj Did you find one? Just checking because I can link some if you didn't. :) How far along are you? Either way - best of luck for a smooth labor. God bless.
@@Starfish987 Me too. Thank God. I've had a lot of brushes with death, but once you're a parent, getting close to that is a lot more scary, at least for me it was.
I'm never having kids this is actually terrifying I'm shivering my timbers rn😭🙏 like hats off to all mothers out there how do y'all do it, I could literally NEVER🛐
It's not for everyone 😅🙏 I will admit, when I had my first. In the aftermath, I described it as feeling like you've expelled all your intestines and organs. You feel totally weak and like you pushed your soul out of your body. It is insane and I had no idea how intense it would all be (not the worst experience in my life, but the healing is always far longer than anyone will mention. It's almost the most difficult part of the birth. Now you're broken and caring for a baby.) I praise you and anyone else who looks at the situation, knows them self, and says it may not be for me. I commend you ❤
@@alexandraonai8187 you're so nice my heart- 😭🫶 and honestly that's exactly what you should say when a woman says she doesn't want kids, not bash them about it or act like the population is dying anytime soon or that it's her only purpose, all you should do is respect her for knowing herself and what she can and cannot do or what she doesn't want to do, better than having emotionally immature parents growing up or abusive or toxic ones, fucks you up, happened to me and that's how I know I might not want this, might is the keyword though maybe I'll just grow out of it but for now no way in hell🥲

Well there are worse things and well the resting period is what makes woman recover that and our brains make us forget the hardness of it all and minimising also everyone experience with pregnancy and childbirth is different there are management methods medically but if you have a good support system medically financially and socially it can make a world of difference there is a reason why postpartum confinement exist in certain cultures like Chinese a month of total resting is needed I would say 3 months of doing no to little work outside of taking care of your newborn with your mother or nursing nanny alongside to help you.
Same here, but it was informative to know about the different stages. I’d heard about the big pads and the dinner plate sized wound but not how long it lasts or what it’s supposed to be like. Until this video I don’t know it had stages but it makes sense
The gyno really needs to say something to the pregnant ladies too. I got really worried when my period turned orange after having a baby. I had no idea what to expect. 😅
Well maybe if they taught this in sex ed, there'd be less people... After experiencing childbirth once, that was enough for me! 16 years later and I have not forgotten.
@@Starfish987gynos are either male and clueless or women who are just as clueless. Although, I've found most male gynos seem to be more gentle than the majority of female gynos. I still don't like seeing either.
You think "oh cool, I won't have my period for almost a year" but then you realize that it's all just built up while you were pregnant and when you give birth, your body rewards you with a mega period :3
The shocking thing is I only learnt this halfway through in my pregnancy. Like wtf. I’m thankful to all my friends to never have talked about postpartum but also quite crazy how women have kept this insider secret throughout the ages. One of the reasons why women decide to have kids LOL.
SIX WEEKS???!!! Fist time mom here, and also the first time I hear how much it lasts. Sweet Jesus, thank you for this video. I would've been scared as hell if the moment came and I didn't know this information
A doctor would probably tell you that by the time it gets to that point but yes! 6 weeks! Sometimes it’s on and off. You’ll notice with more activity and movement sometimes the bleeding will come back when you thought it was gone but as long as you’re still within that 6-week range it’s normal! Blew my mind both times. I had c sections so I thought it meant less blood. That was not true lol
Also, the clots can be large and scary-looking. I had one that scared me with my second. If you have any that worry you, just ask the nurse about it just in case.
Mine lasted more than 8 weeks, around 10 if I remember right because it was mixed with period even though I exclusively breastfeeded. It was hard to tell the difference.
With my first boy, the bleeding started to wear off after about 4 weeks. My midwife told me, this was too early and had me take medication and tea to prolong it for another few weeks. I think that was good. But beyond these questions - the bleeding after birth can be scary if nobody warned you. The biggest thing for me was not feeling clean. It helped a lot to have a jug with lukewarm water standing next to the toilet, so I could rinse my stressed out mom parts a few times a day.
When I first heard that they make a small cut in the vagina to help push the baby out, then I have heard about bleeding post birth, the intense labour pain, the 2 to 3 years of sleepless nights till baby sleeps through the night, I am intensely happy to remain Childfree. Mothers are really Warriors who go through so much to bring a life into this world and good parents are truly a different breed of people who can give so much to help sustain and thrive a child successfully. P.s: Thank you to all those in the comments who told me what that cut is called - episiotomy. I never knew the name till now. 😊
Not everyone needs an episiotomy but I really didn't feel it. But I did get a numbing injection. I had an emergency csection first child and vbac for second. (Vaginally after c section) I would go natural again in a hot minute because you recover quicker. But for my 2 adorable little white hair makers I would do it again. Its hard and yes gross. No one tells ya about what happens right after childbirth but it's not always horrible. But I do understand not having kiddos
Oh yeah, the first six weeks you wonder if you've lost your mind. everybody does. It gets better. I would say young people should know this; and take into consideration if they are prepared to handle it. There is nothing wrong with waiting.
I knew I wanted to be child free since I was 17 and figured out that life wasn't for me. I can't even stand the 3 days a month when I'm on my period. Just imagining SIX WEEKS of 🩸 makes me physically ill, wow. Moms are warriors though, big respect to them! I personally still wouldn't put my body through all that just to have a baby 💀 but if a woman wants to have one, it's their choice.
Me learning all these (often scary or gross) things about pregnancy and birth makes me feel so informed and grateful. I want to be a mom, and it's important to know what to expect to be safe and advocate for myself because doctors see so much all day they might miss something or won't listen.
Truthfully some of it is a learning curve. For example my epidural didn't work at ALL, even after 4 doses. And once my baby was out there was no pain and I only bled for 3 days. It's a beautiful experience but I only did it once 😂
I watched sooo many videos on baby CPR and diaper changing. When my baby came I didn't even know how to hold her properly. I was so embarrassed 😅 So yes I agree with the above commenter - much of it is a learning curve.
I had leftover placental tissues, if you have a flow that keeps getting interrupted, painful cramping, fevers, shaking or a bad smell (smells sickly sweet, like honey and roadkill) then rush your butt to an er. It can be an infection that could kill you if left untreated.
After my mom gave birth to me, this had happened to her. She was taking my sister to get something to eat when she experienced intense shakes, VERY heavy bleeding, etc... She collapsed on the street. Luckily, there were some kind people around who helped, and one guy drove her to the ER himself instead of waiting for an ambulance to arrive.
This!!! I only found out about the bleeding much later in life and it was described as “oh you’ll have your period for like a month”. Couldn’t believe NO ONE ever talks about it. Honestly traumatized by it 😱😱
This is a FAILURE of our medical system. They're SUPPOSED to help educate mothers so they can tell if something is genuinely concerning or not. This lack of education makes 🚺 unnecessarily fearful of pregnancy & childbirth and it also can potentially endanger lives when there actually is a problem & they don't realize it's a legitimate concern that should be addressed.
What? I’m 76 and didn’t know this. I remember using extra large Kotex. Can’t remember for how long. I had my gallbladder out a year later and the next day had one horrendous one day “period” a week earlier than expected. Bled like crazy. A pad every hour. I told the nurses but I was ignored. My incision was massive in those days done from under my left breast to appendix so the gynocologist could also have a looky look. Could barely make it to the bathroom. Anyone think that was abnormal?? My first meal was also greasy fish and chips. I felt like had been to war. But I’m still here.
My bleeding lasted 8 weeks 😬 but my husband also had a massive stroke and was in a coma 5 days after I gave birth. Then 7 days after he woke up and my life flipped upside down. So after 8 weeks of bleeding, a week later my period started. I never gave myself time to heal cause I was drive 4 hours a day to go see my husband in an ICU room, taking care of my child, and dealing with everything he was taking care of. However. You will be surprised how strong of a person someone can be when the job is handed to them. I had no family that lived close by. All were states away. And they were only able to help for a couple months before needing to get back to their own lives. Woman can be so strong, and men were already strong, most woman just don’t realize it.
Oh gosh that sounds so intense… sorry to hear you had to go through so much while juggling a newborn, your husband’s health and your own recovery… you are so resilient and I hope things are more manageable now! ❤
Omg you've gone through so much darling😢 hope you’re doing great. Seriously you’re very right, I noticed how strong I am once I was left in my country alone with my university, job, a kid (I used to take care of my cousin), and my sickness
5 weeks post partum and still spotting a little bit. I notice on the days I’m more active, especially if I lift a lot that day, the spotting increases. Take resting seriously! Even if you think you’re fine, your body is still healing if you can’t see it.
Yes same experience. If I do lots of standing/moving I’ll notice more. But the days where I mostly relax, it seems like it’s over. Glad to know I’m not the only one!
Hi momma! I have a 1 year old, and i just found out about diastasis recti. I highly recommend looking up videos on it! It will help you heal your abdomen and teach you the proper way to engage your core so you dont hurt yourself. Goodluck! Spread the word!
That's one of the reasons why bed rest/postpartum should last 6 weeks. In that time the mom should bond with her little one and recover from bringing the bundle of joy to the world. Of course every mom is different. There are moms which get up after a birth like their did nothing special but there are mom's which need that time to recover hltheir strength. I know both kinda od mums and every one should have the right to have that time. I know jn America it is different but in germany your maternity leave starts 6 weeks before due date and the parents can stay up to 3 years at home - for each kid.
I hemoraged after the birth of my first child, so my post-partum was heavier and longer (about 8 weeks). With my second child I breast fed her and my post-partum was about 4-5 weeks long and no where near as heavy. With my third child my post-partum was the usual 6 weeks. But I didn't breast feed her and I had intrauterine growth restriction with her. (My uterus stopped growing, which in turn stopped baby from growing) she was the size of a 34 week baby delivered at 37 weeks gestation. Don't get pregnant too quick after having a baby.
I haemorrhaged after both my babies, and breastfed both and only bled for 5 & 7 days. Apparently when you haemorrhage you don’t bleed as long because you lose most of the blood then…
Holy shiiiii.... I'm more scared each time I learn something new. Now that I'm actually pregnant I'm terrified of giving birth. Definitely worth knowing but i wish I didn't have to know that 😅
Hey, just wanted to say that I became a mom for the first time in October after being terrified of childbirth my whole life and guess what?! It's actually not that bad! Like yeah, it's ROUGH, but at no point did I get overwhelmed by panic or feel like I couldn't do it. It's a relatively short experience, and if you're able to have a vaginally birth, not a long time until you're able to move normally again. And it feels so good not to be pregnant! Just wanted to let you that you have so much to look forward to, and you can absolutely have a good, happy birth story
I breastfeed 4 out of my 5 kids and noticed it stopped within a couple of weeks versus the 6 weeks it took for the non-breastfeed child, but I also noticed the cramps/contracting of the uterus was worse with the breastfeed babies. I know it's because the body is working overtime to get the uterus back to normal quicker.
genuinely it must feel so invalidating to women who have given birth and the thing is that whenever a women gives concerns when her husband asks her for a child person act as if shes just a being a drama queen for being scared to give birth and maybe permentally have changes and damages to her body
Those giant pads were the WORST thing I ever experienced. They would bunch up and irritate my stitches. I was very unprepared the day my daughter was born, we didn’t bring anything with us so I had to use them in the hospital but once we got home I just switched to always discreet diapers and they were sooooooo amazing
You waited until til you got home? I made my guy go get the diapers like almost as soon as I had my daughter I couldn’t deal with those stupid pads they give in the hospital.
I had one post partum experience where I bled heavily for a solid 3 months. I was constantly weak and in terrible pain, the doctors just told me to keep calling back if it continued. Then my second time around, I only bled for 10 days. Post partum is insane, every time.
7-10 days for me post C-section. I didn't have a blood transfusion and I refused morphine 7 hrs after delivery (made me feel too spacey and I wanted to be in control of my faculties) and asked them to substitute with paracetamol. First 48hrs after the delivery was the scariest for me. Things were so bloody in down-town china-town... No one ever talks about how gross post-partum is because (brace for sarcasm) 'childbirth is so natural and so beautiful' 🤨 - yeah - right! 🙅♀️ Thankfully it didn't last for long. It was all over in a week. Normal cycle returned 28 days after birth, so for me, post-partum was no big deal. I don't think I could have handled it if it stuck around for 6 weeks 😮 Those mammoth pads are the greatest invention ever! Thank goodness the hospital provided them. I had to put a small pad under my floppy belly to keep the surgical area dry - something else they don't tell you about and that your body feels and looks like a deflated, squishy balloon. Nothing looks the same after birth and I mean NOTHING which includes your 'ladybird'! I didn't have a very sympathetic or empathetic partner. So I had no choice but to suck it up and care for my child because no one else would.
@@SharkBait-0317 😯 you're a tough lady. I don't think I could have handled 6 weeks bleeding. They gave me some drugs to stop and reduce the bleeding. Maybe they helped? I just know that I never want to go through it again. Especially all the stress that I had to endure in the process during pregnancy, birth, and afterwards. Was all just too much for me to handle.
I laugh at everyone saying this is the best birth control, but really - THANK YOU to whomever posts information like this!! New Moms and expectant Moms are going through so much hormonal change and emotional ranges that they don’t always think to ask all the randoms.
No one told me about the mochis alba and what it looked like or smelled like and I was TERRIFIED. I did a quick google search that calmed my nerves, but I wish I had seen a video like this before hand! Thank you for spreading awareness!
When I was pregnant with my first baby, a lady gave me a big box of those giant pads as a baby shower gift. I was confused and she said to me, "You'll thank me later." After I had my baby, those pads were a blessing. Best baby shower gift ever!
This is a great way to curb unprotected seggs and possibly prevent it in teens. Schools should have to start showing this as young as secondary school age (intermediate, middle or 6th grade) (it is called different school levels depending upon your location).
I was bleeding for around 4 weeks, but I was told I’m healing really fast, because I was never bleeding heavily. My bleeding was not as heavy as period, I would say I was spotting every now and then during that 4 weeks time period.
Love getting info like this in bits and pieces 🤦🏾♀️ I seriously do appreciate you and others for making these videos. It’s just a little annoying that there’s not somewhere we learn all this in one place when we’re younger
Women who have babies go through a lot.I have no kids i couldnt go through childbirth as it looks very scary.Mothers deserve a medal for going through all of this carrying a baby for nine months then giving birth then this after .
I am so glad for videos like this because it makes me feel more prepared for when I do ever plan to have a kid. This is one of the good things about the internet!
Right and it’s even funnier because everybody likes that new baby smell, which is the same smell of the lochia stuff that comes out of you after you give birth
Wow ❤ I'm 25 and still learning new everyday... I'm trying to get pregnant from last 3 years and for some reason 😢💔... But I hope one day I'll be blessed with a lil soul to take care of ❤... Wish me Good luck 🍀😌
I have who is a surrogate for another mutual friend. I'm in awe of all people who give birth, but the more I lean about pregnancy and birth - the more I'm amazed by the selflessness of surrogates. 💜
I gave birth about 5 weeks ago. I was bleeding more at first for about 3-4 days, some clots also, then it was lighter and went away. Then it came back every few days or after effort for about 2 weeks, sometimes without bleeding. I stopped bleeding completely around week 4. I was using night pads and period underwear after the first days ❤
I have only needed a super size pad overnight for the first two days then regular period type pads and bleeding with some clots for a week followed by a slight coloured discharge for another week. All stopped at the two week health check and then a repeat of a heavier period type bleeding with clots at 4 weeks postpartum. I solo breast feed and have had 9 all natural vaginal deliveries, no bed rest👍🏻
In some parts of Africa, you need to take some hot herbal soup alongside stomach massage with hot towels. This helps to push out all those stuff off your body with less pains and you come out clean and strong after a few weeks . When things like this are not properly pushed out, it can lead to secondary infertility or miscarriage for the next expected baby.
Literally never experienced it like this with any of my 5 kids. I never needed more than an over night pad for the first couple days and then a regular pad for a few weeks. Except my 3rd pregnancy that broke all biological rules and I gave birth and then SPOTTED!! SPOTTED!!! For THREE DAYS! And that was it.
I was the same with my first and only. My mother also recalls not bleeding at all when she told me I couldn’t believe it but then once I’d given birth it was extremely light bleeding first two days and then spotting 🤷♀️
I was 17 when I gave birth naturally to a 9lb baby and my bleeding lasted about a week after birth with no clots. I had to have extra scans and check ups to make sure everything was OK and there was nothing left behind. I was fine just a quick recovery I guess 😅
I wish i knew about this. My family never informed me, and when it happened to me, i was outside, and i had no idea what to do. I wet my pants, my sweater, it was a bloody mess. I was so scared. It looked like a bloody scene. I asked my mom, who had 5 kids, if this was normal, and she said she didn't know.. it was so embarrassing.
Seriously though… If they taught this in sex, said to highschoolers, I’m pretty sure a lot of girls would be thinking twice about having to deal with all of that.. and possibly alone!
Mine was 6 weeks, then couple days break and back to my periods! It was very disappointing, was hoping to have a break. People told me breastfeeding delays periods, too. It didn't for me...
While I didnt know some of the specifics, I rationalized a long time ago that based on how much just a monthly cycle is, I'm sure having a baby will be WAAAAY more bleeding, shrinking, etc. 6 weeks is also the minimum recommended time to wait before having ANY kind of sex again, using tampons, etc. It's to prevent potentially serious infections in the exposed uterus, or other complications.
I’m a grown ass woman and had no clue that this even happens post birth. Thank you for sharing this! I wish we were taught this stuff. Also I’m firmly in the no kids court. Y’all parents are built different, it ain’t for me but bless you. 😅❤
So thankful for technology to help spread kmowledge and help women and girls make better decisions and understand the changes the body has to navigate if you decide to have children.
I actually went into shock a bit immediately after. Got the shakes, could not stop shivering. Had the midwife a little worried but after sitting with me for ten minutes she knew I wasn't bleeding out, I was "just" in shock from the fast delivery.
From what I understood that happens to everyone who delivers, happened to me too and the nurse said its normal, and put a heated blanket on me, its called postpartum chills and can happen at the end of labour or up to a couple of hours after.
@@nicoleperron3315 I'm going with not everyone, because with my second I had none of that. I delivered her, hubby handed her to me, and then I just sat on the floor and held her while we waited for the midwife to get there.... Baby girl was a 55 minute labor, she beat the midwife by four minutes. Midwife kept muttering about "should have ran those two red lights!" xD
@@estyria777 that's a fast one, I didn't read anywhere that it had to happen, only that it could, every pregnancy is different 😊 I got to the hospital at 10 pm and my son was born at 10:32 pm, I was half on the bed, he was my first and only, when I phoned the hospital at 930 pm after doing groceries the nurse said to take a bath and come in late the next day. I'm really glad we went to the hospital instead. 😂 My doctor said I skipped the first two stages of labour and went straight to delivering, apparently this is a thing. I only had one, too scared if I had another, the baby would fall out when I was walking down the street 😂🤣
@@nicoleperron3315 Haha! My first midwife said I must have progressed extremely fast, the second called it "silent labor." Which I had never heard of, but made sense. She theorized that the Braxton Hicks I had been having every 20-30 minutes for the last 3 days was actually contractions that just didn't hurt. Which is wild. Glad you made it! My midwife for the first one, we called and told her hey, contractions are almost a minute long every 4 minutes, that's when the handout said to call you. She advised me to lay down and try to go back to sleep? Yeah no. Next time we called the doula, and the doula heard me in the background and jumped to get there in time, and SHE texted the midwife and said get your butt over there this baby is coming.
Teeth chattering and shakes happened to me during the birth. I couldn't even form a sentence I had to mouth it. It is so crazy what happens to the woman's body
I stopped bleeding around 2.5 and 3 weeks with some spotting for a week after. But ladies the depends what fit like panties are a blessing get those and the disposable shorts too. Also the cooling pads that are like ice packs were amazing for me and I had a C-section so imagine the relief for a vaginal birth. Also something that’s not talked about a lot is you may cramp after as your uterus shrinks but my doctor told me if the cramps feel like they are only in one spot and not like a normal period cramp to see help because sometimes very rarely the uterus doesn’t shrink completely to normal and it can cause hemorrhages and infection
I got super lucky. For both of mine, I had a 9 day period and then that was it. I did have some really really bad pains in my stomach after my first child. Went to the Dr, and apparently thats normal.
Please. Don’t forget about the “undie Sunday”. Put the pads in the fridge or freezer, tucks pads into the fridge. Try and get a few bottles of the spray from the hospital (some use foam). then when changing the pad, take all the cold items, place the tucks onto the pad, spay the pad and the tucks, spray your lady bits (front and back) and RELEIF! I taught this to my new mommies (L&D nurse for a hot second) and they were thrilled!
Girl you got this I felt the same way but it’s gonna happen and you need to be strong for your baby and yourself don’t fear it. You get to meet your baby its every emotional yet exciting. If you need anything your nurses are 100 percent there for you. I will tell you this sleep when you can when the baby sleeps you sleep don’t worry about anything else not the dishes or laundry just you and the baby the newborn stage goes by fast you might be tired as hell in pain hungry but taking care of your baby seeing him or her smile holding them it’s magical you can do it Mama. ❤❤❤there’s a 5th sense you get when you find out that you’re pregnant it gradually grows through pregnancy it gets stronger and stronger you’ll find strength peace power joy you’ll be ready when the time comes. When your at the doctors office ask to record your baby’s heart beat I found listening to it was extremely calming. I had my nurse crank up the sound of my baby’s heartbeat though labor it helped me
Everybody's is different.. I was always told I was too big of pansy to have natural birth I am bad with pain. But my first and only baby was super easy somehow. Everything went fast and smooth and easy and I did have an epidural and slept until they said it was time. You don't feel anything at all with the epidural. No pain. My back hurt a little when I was sleeping but that was it lol. Then after they took her to nicu and as soon as the epidural ran put and i could feel my legs I walked by myself down to the nicu like it was nothing. Like I said different for everyone but even post partum wasn't too painful either. Everything was a breeze for me and I thought it would have been terrible. So don't be scared. It happens differently for everyone. I had this sudden desperate urge to give birth again right away lol it was odd
hey girl, my baby turns 1 month old today yes contractions hurt im not gonna lie to you, but it is all worth it in the end i only had about something like 7 hours of contractions before i got an epidural- and the epidural worked like a charm PRAISE MEDICINE i get to hold my chunky baby and kiss her to death lol so it was all 100% worth it i will say newborn phase is hard, but remember: it gets better i cried for the first few weeks then i started adjusting remember your baby loves you ❤
Yep adult diapers. The pull ups. After my C-section, I bled about ten days. It wasn’t bad at all, but after my first birth (natural), I hemorrhaged big time and bled for weeks after. I breast fed my twins (C-section babies) and I think that really helps with the bleeding a lot. However, the breast feeding ruined my breasts & plastic surgery didn’t help much- covered in stretch marks, breast lift scars- 🤮. I’ve had body dysmorphia ever since.
I remember when the hospital gave me a giant pad after my waters broke, I thought it was a towel to clean the mess I made on the floor 😂 I bled for 6 weeks, I remember it feeling like forever! Now 10 months post partum and my period hasn't returned
I recommend seeing a doctor. I was never told that not having a period (because I have pcos) could cause cervical cancer until recrntly & Im 35! Ive been going months each year w/o a period since I was 13.
@erbear7236, Do check with a doctor about the no period post partum after 10 months. Also if the mother is breast feeding, I heard that periods skip a few months. Anyway check it out with a doctor.
And that is totally normal. I usually "bleed" for about 8 weeks (including all the other stages, obviously not just blood 8 weeks straight) but until I could go without pads it was easily 8 weeks. After that only slim liners. Yes it takes a long time, can't believe you haven't been told that before giving birth
I had a c-section but i bleed for over three month. So many people told me my bledding would be less and it wont take long. That was the thing i was happy about having at least not to deal with pads and adultdipers that long. I really hated it but my doctor said im alright. I hope the next time it will be not as long 😭
Mine lasted about 4 weeks, stopped bleeding for a week, then had my a regular period for about 5-7 days. Then I remained regular up until I got on birth control. I’m beyond thankful my body has always maintained a regular period 🙏🏽 I was 16 when I get pregnant and 17 when I gave birth. I knew I’d bleed a bit after pregnancy but no one told me it would last as long as it did. I thought it’d just be like a regular period afterwards. No one told me about the intense shakes during labor, either. That was probably the scariest thing I have ever experienced. I thought something was wrong and the shaking was so bad that during my c-section I began to vomit, it was so horrible. I am 100% against abstinence only education, as that’s what my school stood by and I feel like it’s a true detriment to our youth. Teens are going to have sex, WITH OR WITHOUT THEIR PARENTS KNOWLEDGE/PERMISSION, and we have to teach them how to be safe and what to expect if it fails.
When I gave birth 15 years ago at age 34, I was clueless about all the afterbirth healing and the big pads they send you home with, that process was almost as much shock as what birthing and taking care of a newborn was really like. My next pregnancy was a miscarriage and then I said Okay Im done getting pregnant this is not worth it. But thank you for making this video and sharing info, I'm glad both men and women have access to true and important information like this.
I hate having my period and wearing pads! It makes me feel so wet and nasty ! I prefer pads over tampons because I can't feel it and it's not going in me! I don't know what to do again ! I don't want to use pads or tampons but I also don't want that wet feeling down there!!

Great birth control video! WOW did not know this! I WISH they would talk more about this/pregnancy/birth stuff is sex ed class! I think a lot of teens would refrain more or use protection! WOW ❤❤❤

I’m shitting it, first baby and I’m having contractions now at 38w5d and oh my god 🤣. I can’t cope

Exactly 😂
birth control destroys your hormones
What is an upside down period bottle?
Oh peri bottle. Nevermind I got it
Terribly scary. So glad you knew what to look for and was alright.

Maybe if they taught this in sex ed, we'd have less people who have no idea about what goes on.😂
The gyno really needs to say something to the pregnant ladies too.

What can I say . We don't even have sex education lol . I'm 16 btw
You think "oh cool, I won't have my period for almost a year" but then you realize that it's all just built up while you were pregnant and when you give birth, your body rewards you with a mega period :3

And you'll get sick, nauseous and still be in pain.
@@malwads1836 yeah a crying annoying peace of new responsibility, how cool..
@@malwads1836 a mega period with a child tooo ?....no thanks..
Mine lasted 2 weeks for both babies
@@valkyrie1066I’m 6 weeks pp and my baby is smiling now😭 it’s like a reward😭
I knew I wanted to be child free since I was 17 and figured out that life wasn't for me. I can't even stand the 3 days a month when I'm on my period. Just imagining SIX WEEKS of 🩸 makes me physically ill, wow. Moms are warriors though, big respect to them!
I personally still wouldn't put my body through all that just to have a baby 💀 but if a woman wants to have one, it's their choice.
@_fussyfangs saying you've been child free since 17 implies you had a child before you were 17... 😭
Why?
I watched sooo many videos on baby CPR and diaper changing. When my baby came I didn't even know how to hold her properly. I was so embarrassed 😅 So yes I agree with the above commenter - much of it is a learning curve.

@umhi9778 why what? That's a very open-ended question. Please be specific in what it is you're asking. I'd love to answer your inquiry if I am able
I had leftover placental tissues, if you have a flow that keeps getting interrupted, painful cramping, fevers, shaking or a bad smell (smells sickly sweet, like honey and roadkill) then rush your butt to an er. It can be an infection that could kill you if left untreated.
That is so very serious and scary. I'm so glad you got treated in time. I hope you are better and fully recovered. God bless.
@AndreaMoscoso-ny8oq thank you, God Bless.
@@isisross4516Bless him.

Wow I’m 26 and didn’t even know this. They really need to teach us about our bodies more.
Definitely worth knowing but i wish I didn't have to know that 😅
You have to know about the good and the bad of pregnancy and childbirth so you can prepare and id problems fast!
I feel you!!
It’s better to know to prepare and you will have a gift from the God
Hope you always healthy until your baby come to the world ❤

Thanks for sharing this. I’ve never been educated on this before. People who have babies are so badass ❤
Thank you for spreading awareness about this very normal part of the pregnancy and birth process. I wish someone had told me about it beforehand.
Yes!!! The cramps during breast feeding were crazy. But I knew it just meant everything is going back into place
My c-section recovery lasted about 80 days Arnica is a great tea to help restore from the inside out .

Thanks for sharing this! So many women do not share this with others, so we can be well informed!
This is why it annoys me when people downplay how much a woman goes through to bring one human to life like they're drama queens.
genuinely it must feel so invalidating to women who have given birth and the thing is that whenever a women gives concerns when her husband asks her for a child person act as if shes just a being a drama queen for being scared to give birth and maybe permentally have changes and damages to her body
@@bethaneyarmstrong395 he was so annoying about not leaving me alone at the hospital but now I know for my current pregnancy to not forget them 😭
I had one post partum experience where I bled heavily for a solid 3 months. I was constantly weak and in terrible pain, the doctors just told me to keep calling back if it continued. Then my second time around, I only bled for 10 days.
Post partum is insane, every time.
Someone should do a video about ALLthe gross and painful (yet very normal) things that come after giving birth.
Thankfully it didn't last for long. It was all over in a week. Normal cycle returned 28 days after birth, so for me, post-partum was no big deal. I don't think I could have handled it if it stuck around for 6 weeks 😮
Those mammoth pads are the greatest invention ever!
I had 2 c/s and I still bled the full 6 weeks 😢
@@SharkBait-0317 😯 you're a tough lady. I don't think I could have handled 6 weeks bleeding. They gave me some drugs to stop and reduce the bleeding. Maybe they helped? Aww. Sorry that happened. No woman should have to suck it up after giving birth.
I sincerely hope they are your ex. I'm sorry you had to handle everything alone.
I hope you left that partner. You deserve better.
This is a common stereotype, my sister. Not all adolescents do this.
Wow!! You mom's are beyond AMAZING!!
I was bleeding for around 4 weeks, but I was told I’m healing really fast, because I was never bleeding heavily. My bleeding was not as heavy as period, I would say I was spotting every now and then during that 4 weeks time period.

I have who is a surrogate for another mutual friend. I'm in awe of all people who give birth, but the more I lean about pregnancy and birth - the more I'm amazed by the selflessness of surrogates. 💜
I can't believe I've gone through this 4 times...
You had 9 kids? Wow!
I'm keeping this video for my daughter when she's a teenager.
I was 17 when I gave birth naturally to a 9lb baby and my bleeding lasted about a week after birth with no clots. I had to have extra scans and check ups to make sure everything was OK and there was nothing left behind. I was fine just a quick recovery I guess 😅
I'm getting induced in one week and I'm so prepared❤
Wishing you and the baby all the best of luck! ❤
Also ask the hospital for some changing pads. I used them for myself, always sleeping on one. You can never be too careful.
I'm surprised that most women don't know about it. My mother informed me while i was still a teenager.

I'm pregnant with baby #5, I always use the adult diapers for like the first week postpartum. So much easier
I was done most of the postpartum bleeding by the 2nd week. Great advice, and some great advice in the comments.
Thanks for sharing!! I knew moms bled a lot after having a baby, but it was still pretty vague to me, and I'm in my late 30's (haven't had a baby).
I only bleed for a week UNLESS i over do it physically then ill bleed a bit for a day or 2.
Rest is just a priority for a quick recovery.
You're saying u only bled for one week after having a baby??
@@jennifers.3818 yes, after all 3 of my babies :)
Yep I'm on my third baby I'm a week pp and I've nearly got nothing left :)
@@colleenbrown92 good job for resting and allowing your body to heal!
Which herbal teas do U take post partum
Finally, someone recognised the need for the giant pad. I used these type for the first 48hrs after the delivery of all five of my babies.
I wish I'd seen this before giving birth. Then maybe I could have convinced the unbelieving doctors I was hemorrhaging before my heart stopped.
I had a c-section, and I, too, can confirm that it happens after a c-section.👍🏻
But luckily it was shorter than 6 weeks, somewhat between 4-5 weeks.
This makes so grateful for having periods one week a month
Im 12 weeks along with my first, and i cant help but feel faint thinking about the birth itself and the postpartum 😭😭 i beg for words of encouragement
My bleeding was very light. Thin and watery!
It's really not so bad considering what you get out of it. I wouldn't change a thing. 😉
hey girl, my baby turns 1 month old today
yes contractions hurt im not gonna lie to you, but it is all worth it in the end
i only had about something like 7 hours of contractions before i got an epidural- and the epidural worked like a charm PRAISE MEDICINE
i get to hold my chunky baby and kiss her to death lol so it was all 100% worth it
i will say newborn phase is hard, but remember: it gets better
i cried for the first few weeks then i started adjusting
remember your baby loves you ❤
SIX WEEKS? Holy crap I’m so satisfied in my decision to remain childfree. Good luck and positive vibes to all the moms and future moms out there. 🙏
I bled 5 weeks after my first and 12 after my second!
Love your video and your beautiful thoughts❤️👍
I wear adult diapers like a champion. My husband always teases me and says me and our newborns are twining as I rock my diaper while nursing 😆
I remember when the hospital gave me a giant pad after my waters broke, I thought it was a towel to clean the mess I made on the floor 😂
I bled for 6 weeks, I remember it feeling like forever! Now 10 months post partum and my period hasn't returned
😂😂 Hopefully they cleaned the floor for you! Loved the break I got after lochia! 💞
I actually can’t remember how long mine lasted but I definitely know adult nappies were a life saver xxx
I think that's the first time i heard the length that this normally lasts. I don't remember exactly, but i believe i was bleeding for over a month.
Finally I see someone with the same experience as me. I also last over a month
I hope the next time it will be not as long 😭
@Kath-Erina I remember knowing about the bleeding, but nobody mentioned that it could last more than a month.
@virginia3752 wow, that seems too long. Were you able to rest enough, or did you have to start walking soon after birth?
Oh thank you, i already didn't want kids but this confirmed it 🙏
Mine lasted about 4 weeks, stopped bleeding for a week, then had my a regular period for about 5-7 days.
Im so scared, but Imma be ready for this.😂
Thanks for adding to my fear of pregnancy
I work in a carehome and the residents use big pads like that, I didn't know they were also used for people after pregnancy lol
They need to show this in schools.
I still wear my big pads during my monthly bleed. They are so comfortable, I'm never going back to the thin pads.
Yup, same here, unfortunately.
I hate having my period and wearing pads! It makes me feel so wet and nasty ! I prefer pads over tampons because I can't feel it and it's not going in me! I don't know what to do again ! I don't want to use pads or tampons but I also don't want that wet feeling down there!!
@@chelseajoseph1238ever try menstrual cups or disks? A but nasty when you’re starting to figure them out but I’d never go back!!! They can stay in with no risk for 8-12 hours and can’t feel them!
I Don't like any of it...& The Smell of a period (The Smell of the blood I guess) to Me, is uck..You know that squeeze bottle thing that the hospital gives You after birth, to squirt Yourself off/clean after going pee? That became My best friend from the day My first born was born, even the sitz bath 🛁..Have You ever used either of those (especially the bottle) While on Your monthly? If You have not, I highly recommend giving it a Try, it may help You feel more comfortable/clean etc. It DEFINITELY did For Me!! &, Baby Wipes!!@@chelseajoseph1238

They need to remind people about prenatal classes. I took one for my first pregnancy and I’m so glad I did!
Honestly Always Discreet is the best. Feels like I’m wearing underwear and gives amazing protection.
Thank you for another reason to adopt
I bled for 10 weeks after I had my son xx
Me too. I always wondered why i bled so long. Do you know?
Great birth control video! WOW did not know this! I WISH they would talk more about this/pregnancy/birth stuff is sex ed class! I think a lot of teens would refrain more or use protection! WOW ❤❤❤
