The CJ-6 is my realistic dream airplane. It seems like it's the warbird equivalent of an early Mooney: fast, efficient, and relatively less expensive than comparable airplanes. Awesome video!

The Nanchang was one of the very first aircraft I worked on as a apprentice aero engineer in Australia.
Ours had just arrived from China and was still in its original paint.

I think this plane crashed in Lancaster, CA today, rest in peace to the pilot, who may be the owner seen here :(
Sep 22 2024 Aviation Safety Network:
A Nanchang CJ-6A and a Yakovlev Yak-52 (N5287) experienced a midair collision near Lancaster, California.
The Nanchang crashed and the pilot perished.
The YAK made a forced landing and the pilot was not injured and the aircraft received substantial damage.

I think it was a similar one, definitely not the same pilot

Don't worry if no fuel left. CJ-6 can glide to land even better than a glider.

Funny how you imperial units guys call meters "potatos". I personally am used to metric system so i call feets "bananas". It gets me funny looks.

The brake release button in the rear cockpit is for the instructor to release the brakes in case the student runs of the runway and jams the brakes on instead of steering the aircraft back onto the runway.
Our yak 52 has the identical button in the rear.
