The 2020 pandemic posed numerous challenges to businesses in the service sector. When Canadrone Inspection & Imaging Services Inc. experienced a staff shortage, they placed a focus on efficient operations and their drone platform rose to the challenge.
Last summer, Canadrone relied heavily on the eBee X making use of the multi-drone mission feature to increase their capture capacity by over 50 percent, easily allowing them to capture 3,000 A in a single day.
The RTK and direct georeferencing with the Pix4D optimization cut their processing time significantly which was a huge time and resource saver in generating the ortho imagery or completing the volumetric calculations required.
The efficiency allowed Canadrone to operate with a single pilot and a single crew that was able to capture over 20,000 A in a couple of weeks.
Even though there was less work and the added cost of running two drones, Canadrone improved efficiencies by reducing time on the job and time processing data, which increased their profit margin by more than 20 percent. This allows the aerial survey team to use the spare time and resources to give back to their community and to facilitate projects that could not afford to go ahead while keeping them flying into the 2021 season.
