  • This is an introduction to PLPTool, and uses version 4.1 of the tool. The authors, Damon Cost (who also narrates in this video), Vance Anderson, and Dr. Sohum Sohoni bring you a short and simple program that aims to get you started on programming in assembly language using PLPTool. The video walks through the equivalent PLP assembly code for "a=a+b". It shows how to launch the Quick Reference for PLP, how to assemble, simulate and step through the program, and how to use the watcher window to monitor the contents of registers and memory locations. It also introduces the concept of the program counter, and touches on other useful information such as the usage and syntax of the load word and store word instructions.
