they've tried to, but they wanted to depicted like it was just about riots and people throwing bricks at the queen carriege in form of protest, when the pistol were the only ones who protest against the queen, so john lydon said no to that and they could'nt put any of that

I was a teenager when I served Gary Oldman and his then wife at the time Uma Thurman had no idea who she was back then, but I loved this film and prick up your ears so I recognised him I was shaking serving him his coffee, and he looked at me gave me a smile and said yep it’s me, it was 1988 I’ve loved him ever since.
Alex Cox's romanticized version of Sid Vicious and the Sex Pistols: don't confuse it with the real life events!
This film didn’t romanticise Sid in the slightest. It showed him for what he was, an out-of-it, junkie with zero intelligence in the slightest.
They did get John Lydon wrong though. He is incredibly intelligent but they treated him like an imbecile, but Sid’s character was accurate as was Nancy’s.

There's more than one doc with people who actually knew Sid and also lots of accurate reliable info out there from several different sources that separate the real John Simon Ritchie and his Sid "persona" from the myth created by both Malcom McLaren and the press which Cox portrayed without even talking to the people who were actually there at the time!
Yea I dont think the films 100% acurte they probably did have some romantic momments but nothing like this. I reckon sid and nancy were better people then what they made it. They would of been much smarter in real life and I dont think nancy was that annoying. And johnnys alright but not good enough they need to show him for his smart and truthful nature.

Love the walking away scene.
Feel the best scene of the movie is the small section from 1:20 to the end. The director and these two genius actors, pull off a powerful and subtle. I can never get tired of watching that magic.

So they turned down the guitars on Anarchy to almost nothing. It's punk, you're supposed to hear all the guitars LOUD. And that Johnny Rotten guy looks pretty bad.
Not to mention bass clearly heard yet nobody was even playing bass (in the movie version anyhow). I was excited over this movie at 12 yrs old, being a skateboarder, just getting into punk.......yrs later with 30 yrs knowledge of punk, this movie is a crock of sh*t. John Lydon is right to say this flick is fiction
Now Gary Oleman was the best choice to play Sid, but other than that change the script, completely cutout the godfather of punk rock nonsense, rewrite all of the dialogue. Even putting in Glen Matlock in the beginning plus The Christmas Benifit in to replace the godfather of punk rubbish would've been brilliant. More emphasis on their last show at Winterland. Anything after, nobody cares about.

I thought and posted the same question as well. Even with Sid not being able to play the bass properly, he's at the bottom of the boat, not playing with the band like he was "contractually obligated" to do, and there are full and correct bass lines clearly heard.....yet nobody is playing bass?! I also thought it was some bullsh*t Steve Jones (the guy playing Steve Jones that is) is playing some knock off of a Les Paul Custom, with the pinup girl stickers. That was a big thing about Steve Jones was playing on the best equipment that he was able to get his hands on. His big thing was stealing top equipment...... Although this Les Paul Custom came from Mclauren via Sylvian of The New York Dolls. It was a part of Jones' persona to do his own style of DYI Rock n Roll on the Pros gear being all Glamorous. It was a huge f*ck up by the director that it was A-o.k. to just slap some cheap copy of a Les Paul Custom in Steve Jones hands as portrayed here. I've almost got enough cash saved to get a Les Paul Custom, got the pinup girls allready to put on it when I do get it. That's my attention to detail being such a Steve Jones- Sex Pistols fan. Me just taking some cheap knockoff guitar and slapping the same stickers on it thinking it's the same is bullsh*t, the same as what the director is full of with this joke of a Steve Jones portrayal, Rotten too at that. Long as Sid is acting like some crazed punk rocker and fabricate all kinds of events that never happened and the director thinks it's all good! This movie was complete garbage

Gary Oldman is a super classy actor, can do everything... But no mistakes, Johnny lindon is a really wise and intelligent man, this movie and a lot of people mistook the character with the real man.

If they’d actually tried to depict the time , place, and the people it’d be even harder to watch than this watered down 80s cheese- but man it would’ve made for good cinema. Nancy was much more calculating, Sid could be clever, and John was way more intelligent. People are complex, even as total messes.

Nancy had a much better face but to be fair to Chloe Webb I think the hair and make up did a terrible job on this, nothing like Nancy's look, even the clothes weren't right. Plus Nancy was about 5.2 and curvy, this girl is about 5.5 and slim built. Really bad casting looks wise but great acting from Miss Webb, you can see her and Gary Oldman put alot into their roles.
I can remember being young n the real Johnny looked weird to me because i saw this movie so much. Same with Nancy. Gary Oldman was possessed tho.
