Fun fact, this was the only series ten episode that was filmed on location, and the scene where they are in the woods just after they get transported back in time was actually shot just outside Shepperton Studios, where Red Dwarf is filmed.🙂
The music when building the shower is the same music as when Kryten was competing 'Mr Arnold's tasks' back in Series 2. There was slight Flamingo up with the model shot & they were scratching their heads what to make the money up on. Someone online wondered what the repeat rates were on previous music.
If you wanted to be a real nerd you could ask how Rimmer's family were in the church of Judas when they were also seventh day hoppists.... but then you could take that even further and ask yourself: in the previous 24 years and 57 episodes, how many times has Lister said "Jesus!"?
19:56 I think the joke is that they’re just super excited at something as basic as lemons. I’m not sure though, I don’t think it deserved that big of a laugh either 😂 Love this episode, though, Jesus’ obsession with bags kills me every time!
The Judas thing is written in some books that are known forgeries that were written 100s of years after Jesus..its also common islamic teaching that Jesus wasnt crucified..but someone else was substituted ..and some ppl guess it was judas.. So they show didnt pull it out of thin air
The interesting thing here is that Rimmer portrays some basic biology knowledge, If a Kidney is not functioning properly because of a blockage it can become dormant...its the other operations I question though...spleen removal, sometimes it has to happen but you try to preferably keep that organ in the body, I know it ties in to a joke but if those procedures were actually required it shows that Rimmer genuinely cared for Listers health....its either that or Rimmer was merely testing stuff like a fascist dictator....remember the Napoleon autograph 😂 I am not sure if its out of character or right down his street TBH.
The big laugh was that the woman gave her whole family story to lister, but he’s only interested in lemons. Don’t know why people don’t see that. Also I saw a documentary on tv a couple years ago about wether it was Jesus crucified or Judas.
It's an OK episode, but there is a weird pacing issue I can't quite nail down. A lot happens in one episode, but it's almost like they're waiting for each others lines to finish, or an audience reaction that can't come. If it was on location as said here, that MAY explain what I'm picking up on. You know in Series 8, when Rimmer is reading his Post... same thing.
09:08 The lemons are standing right there. 11:49 Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't the amount of walking needed to get from Britain to Pakistan exceed the amount needed to get from New York to San Francisco? 29:36 If I may paraphrase Sean Connery: "In the Latin alphabet, Jesus begins with an I." 31:30 Maybe an obscure Gnostic sect, with perhaps influence from a fringe faction of Islam?
By far my favourite episode of the Season.

Should you ever find yourself zapped back in time... it also works with apples.😂
I love shows that have FUN with time travel and nobody does it better than the boys from the Dwarf ♥

Maybe his mom converted when she married?
I'm surprised there has never been a conspiricy theory surronding Jesus based on what Rimmer said.
Great episode

Plus they spent months walking to get there for some lemons.

The age of Jesus gag does not work since he was not born in year zero even if there was one.

Strangely pale for a middle-eastern man
