When the game first came out (Closed and open beta tester here) it was great. Fiona, Lann, and Evie were the only characters and progression in terms of leveling, gearing, learning skills, raiding, was such a change in MMO gaming at that time and combat was amazing. New characters felt refreshing. I recently reinstalled it and its so, so SO sad the state the game is in. The game is HORRIBLY optimized, despite having a 64 bit client, loading screens every five seconds (just leaving the Inn is a lagging cluster until you load into town.) Progression is a joke. You don't even need to run into buildings to talk to npc's since you can just click the dialogue box in the quest bar now to just push through content. Story and dungeon progression is like, do a dungeon, sit through a minute of skipping dialogue, level from 10 to 22 in an instant. There is no gearing until you get to end game, since every time you level your rewarded with gear and weapons that you need to just level, (Old content has become totally irrelevant, giving nothing to a new players first impressions of the game.) making the everything so ez until you get to end game and you can't even do a dungeon or even a simple raid unless you party up, which can be hell if you're a newbie that doesn't know anyone in the already small community that still habits around. New characters are the same thing over and over again, with only a handful actually adding any substance to the game, most are just female classes that do the same damn thing and all look the same. Most people play just to play female characters to get big bewb gacha rolled outfits and sit and live their hentai domimommy fantasies. Events are literally log in events for like months to, im not f***ing with you, a year just to keep people online. It really is sad that everything Nexon touches dies, this game was miles ahead of so many MMOs at its peak and to see the state it is in is like...wtf happened?
Nexon is a company that only looks for profits. Not to create a fantastic gaming experience to live on even though their is clearly so much potential with their devs. Their business practices always suffocates what could have been because its cheaper and more profitable to just make another cash grab mmo and siphon money in the first month of release. Look at Hit 2 by nexon, that game was 100% just created to grab money and die after a year or so.
I played this game since beta up till 2017. What killed it for me was the rising update they pushed out around 2016 or so which removed much from the game that made it so fun. You used to be able to farm rare materials/equipment from dungeons in season 2 to make in game gold without having to buy gacha boxes hoping to get extremely lucky with a rare drop (we're talking 0.002% chance to get something tradeable on the market board), you could also farm rare enchant scrolls/titles from Hero mode dungeons. Not to mention the raids back then were pretty challenging where everyone had their own responsibilities to perform. These aspects are what made the game so fun to me and many others. None of this is doable after the rising update, which left the player base with only the whales keeping it afloat. Pretty sad, actually. I do miss it.
And this comment only touched on overall economy Gameplay. They gutted the game to the point of mechanics being removed. There was a limit to how many potions you couls take into a Dungeon. Drinking a potion had an Animation and would agro the boss (healing was risky). You didnt start with 2k HP. You had 200! Most of the critiques about "traps/monsters/bosses do no dmg" early game is because of this. Dmg was boosted. Att speed was boosted. Stamina regen was boosted. Starting stats was boosted. All old bosses were nerfed... Like reallly nerfed. Raids that used to be hard are now soloable by ANYONE. Because the bosses do no dmg and their HP/resistances are a joke.
I played from its release on Steam (2012) to 2017 myself. I don't think I remember the "Rising" update. I must have quit and uninstalled it before that came out. I miss it as well. I put well over 8.3k hours in it. Those are the hours I logged on Steam! I played quite a bit after that through the Nexon launcher.
@@_Azurael_ The Rising update really killed the best parts of the game and made so many game features irrelevant. Picking up items to use as weapons, grappling enemies, even gear crafting... all things that used to have places. Season 1 content could be soloed if you were a decent player, but you still needed a group for raid bosses unless you were an amazing player. Season 2 was legitimately hard content at one point and had some very fun raid content too. When Rising was released, all the old content was nerfed into feeling like you're playing a Dynasty Warriors MMO and the game only feels like old Vindictus once you're at the very endgame and that takes dozens of hours. I just wish the Windictus private server didn't have such boosted rates on everything, the progression was part of the fun.
@@Dreznin I play in the private server. I just wish the EXP boost was optional (maybe drinking a potion aftee character creation) Rates are fine. I dont want to grind 4ever. But would love to feel the power off early game bosses again
i just picked up vindictus for the first time in 2023 and im having so much fun. it strips all the parts of MMOs that typically overwhelm and annoy me down to the parts that I love about mmos: pretty outfits and fun, frequent combat. i have no idea what the story of vindictus is and i don't care B^) and i love that they don't ask me to care LMAOOO
I’m genuinely sad for this game, met it back in 2015 and i saw a lot of potential in there, also being someone who’s way more into obscure content with an interesting proposal I almost immediately fell in love with this game. The graphics for being a 2010 f2p game are gorgeous, I really like the art direction on this one (dug quite deep into the concept artist work and has really amazing stuff, even got to know another interesting game later on that sadly nexon killed: hyper universe) and really wish the game was either a single player game as the story is actually good, or a MMO with an open world (like the zone between colhen and rocheste if you don’t take the express ride proves that it could actually have handle that, at least gameplay-wise, not sure engine or server wise). About the oversexualization: i really don’t mind that at all, in any case I really welcome it with open arms (I’m sorry I’m a perv…) but I really feel it should fit the context of the game for it to work fine, like you have a medieval game and then you suddenly see a k-pop type of outfit in a female character with the biggest plot ever to exist… yeah, quite immersive… In the end yeah it’s clear nexon is making it survive out of ero-content, and I’ll give them a pass still, I don’t mind it but then let me just buy the d*mn outfit directly and not have spend over 1000 on gachas to not get anything… also it seems all new character are going to be female only just for selling these types of armor (if I wanted a female only cast Over-oversexualized I would just stick to action taimanin) About the oversimplification of the game: I remember the path “sub-class” (paladin or dark knight) had a quite lengthy and complicated quest but was like the difference between clearing difficulty quests or being useful in a group and having to struggle through content. Yeah it was harder and in that case hard = fun. If I could give 2 different examples, I find myself playing time after time all the dark souls games because of replayability value but also because they are fun to dive in and they are known more for their difficult than the incredibly well crafted world. Other games I like a lot are the nier series, the art direction is gorgeous, best soundtrack IMO and story goes quite deep but gameplay is at best meh, I really don’t see much value playing them after finishing them. Could say vindictus went from dark souls to nier: replicant in this sense (great story, meh gameplay, little to no replayability value) Sorry for the wall text, wanted to get this out, I still have happy memories of the game and really wish it could emancipate from nexon and have a hard reboot, but we know that will never happen so just hoping one day we’ll get to see a vindictus well done from the beginning.
I used to love the boss region where we where so many players trying to defeat the dragon, or the 100 floor labyrinth with the shadow doubles at the end and many mini games in it. The Christmas events also used to be very cool. For me the fun started to end when they changed mana amber for Evie it wasn't fun to be imobile and not be thrown away asuablly dying in the air. Even tho it was unpractical I loved it, and going out of the map with the mana amber mana mine bug. Everything felt magical and special getting to lvl 60 was so HARD getting the gear was SO HARD TOO. I loved it some changes aded are actually good when doing new characters it makes sense and all. But also now the market place is just empty because they changed the binding system it's just a mess what they did :(. OH AND JUMPING WAS GREAT
I have played Vindictus from closed beta until present. I still think it is a great game and one of the best MMOs ever made. The early levels are boring but the end game is great. There is a ton of party play and raiding which is rare in a modern mmo. The cash shop isn't unreasonable and there isn't a whole lot of pay 2 win. Vindictus monetization is based mostly on selling skins and costumes.
It's sad Nexon has bottled three high population games in MapleStory, Dungeon Fighter and Vindictus. All three of these titles made Nexon huge amounts of money through micro transactions but they never put some real time and resources into transferring these titles on to other platforms like console or even mobile. There was an attempt for maple story but it was a very cutdown version and the DS games were just different games themed after it. A bit of streamlining the fluff and some good advertising would definitely make these games boom on console or mobile.
I could definitely see MapleStory becoming big on mobile if done right. However Nexon proved multiple times that they want maximum profits with the least amount of costs. Anyway, hope you enjoyed the video, make sure to subscribe as well if you want to.
Vindictus's combat system and fan service cant be beat. I would really like another game that has the memorable combat system and boss fights that vindictus has in modern times.
I haven't played this game in 6 years. After dumping over 8.3k hours into it, I just had enough. As far as the playerbase goes, I think it's larger than you realize, because not everyone plays the game through Steam because there was a fatal bug some number of years back where if you played through Steam, you wouldn't be able to launch a battle. It would crash, so Nexon introduced their own launcher.
Game is kinda shit until you hit level 105+, then the difficulty ramps up significantly and it's close to the good old days of Vindictus. If you play the redeemer battles, it IS the good old days (8-player raids that are actually very difficult). It's a great game that is managed very poorly by NEXON, and does a terrible job of showing itself off in the early levels.
AT this point i'm just hoping the game will finally die so maybe we could get the latest game version somewhere to play locally with some friends so we can progress at a desired pace, gameplay and content is top notch in this game but everyting is killed by insane grinding and punishing RNG. It really is a waste for such a quality game.
Best waifus mmo :D Too bad the game is dead :/ They need a remake it would be amazing. Btw you sadly didn't experience the best part of the game, end game raids are really amazing. But like you most people don't get to them cause the story is way too easy/boring...
i've sunk over 6k hours into vindictus in just one account and it still holds the best action combat rpg in my opinion. but i stopped playing around 2017 because of its terrible direction and business model.
At this point, I just hope that the game can die in peace so that Nexon is willing to let go of it, and in the future, give it to a different publisher/developer to revive it. Can you imagine how awesome this game would be if it had a true open world with mounts and shit?
I played it 10 years ago or so and download it again 3 years ago. I find great that you don't need to waste a lot of time running from building to building and that you have the choice to not replay half of the game having in mind that there's a lot of characters, but the story is always the same. I miss how great it felt crafting the armors, which now it's not necessary. I know not too luch characters. Evie, Karok, Eria,, Kai and hurk and they all have thir own geeling but I don't know about thee rest. The gameplay is fun and I'll recommend it. It doesn't feel as me orable as it was, yet it still feels ahead of its time
To me vindictus died after season 2(around the time they killed tir coins sales, what a coincidence), regina and ancient glas are dope fights but all the red attacks bs, followed up by the gutting of early game with gifted gear and such just killed it for me. Probably the best combat system I've ever tried but yeah, all the rest is garbage.
I know i sound a bit emotionless. I'll try to fix that in the next video which will probably be Runescape.
it think its funny, i like dry humor

100% true, a sadly end to the game. At least yall can still play the classic good ol' version by going to the Windictus private server.
