Through their partnership with the DNA company African Ancestry, Manstravel, and Tourism is Life, Sierra Leone is trying to replicate the success of Ghana's year of return by granting citizenship to anyone in the Diaspora who can trace their DNA back to a tribe in Sierra Leone. Sierra Leone also, in a way, has the original door of return in Africa as the Krios were the first enslaved people to return and set-up a permanent home back in Africa (Freetown) I see Liberia is also starting to look into doing something like this as well given their direct history with African Americans, having founded the country and Liberia being the oldest republic in Africa by 100 years, but nothing official has been announced
The whole of West Africa have the original door of return. For instance the Afro Brazilians who return to west africa settled in Ghana, Togo, Benin and Nigeria, in fact their descendants are still in those countries, so Liberia and seirra Leone are not the only countries where enslaved returnee settled.
Sierra Leone was founded based on the return of the Black Poors the UK, the Nova Scotia so (Afro-Americans), the Jamaican Marions and some settlers from the Caribbean and the Recaptives. Most of these movements happened in the 1700s.
@@kofisam9650 No one is saying other countries didn't have freed people return to their countries. Its just that Freetown and its neighbouring island Bonthe are well documented as having the earliest settlements in West Africa for freed returnees. As they were under British protectorate who ironically were the 1st colonisers to try to end the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade.
Man this video hit home. I’m parents are from Sierra Leone. I want to buy a house in Lungai, but I feel like there are more opportunities for entrepreneurs in Accra
This's exactly how some 🇸🇱 behave instead they help grow their country they would rather cry it down...we all need to educate one another with the little one you have
Great insight Joe!🙌🏽😎 Representing Sierra Leoneans in Ghana. 🇸🇱 🤝🏽 🇬🇭 It's very nice that Ghanaians are polite even in their speech when talking generally or asking requests in Ghana. Looking forward to visiting Accra very soon.😇🙌🏽 Also happy that SL WILL emulate the tech start-up and digital trends that Ghana has, as well as your travel schedule between Salone and Ghana - very organised and viable!😎👌🏽
Peace and Blessings to this Sister and thank you. This video reminds me of the bougie Black gated community I plan on staying away from. Black Men with white girl mannerisms only confirms how butt broken “Black Men” are. 😢
I am looking at other countries in the long term. I needed to be close to Sierra Leone right now because I am building a house. I like the idea of the African Union Passport. I will look into that.
