@Cole Addison white hair was because of all the stress and mental illness and abuse he had gone through because of his mother's emotional and physical abuse. Black nails were for how his fingers kept getting chopped off. The blood dried whilst he was healing.
Then they might change the op tho... and nothing can top this. Besides, though the manga was wayyyy better, the animation was pretty spectacular in the anime. So beautiful, and altogether, not as necessary of a fix as the original FMA.
