Standout players playing for Grey that day: Andre Venter's son Andre Hugo(now playing for the Stormers), Franco Smith junior(now playing for Zebre Parma), Blitzbok William Small Smith's younger bro Ian and Jan Hendrik Wessels(now playing for the Bulls).
Zander du Plessis also playing for the Lions.
3:01 this is some confident playing, takes the tackle but so level headed to offload. The whole movement was like a knife through butter
Undoubtedly the best rugby school in the world
That would be Paul Roos.
@@Vander-K Grey Bloem have a 91% win rate since they started playing rugby which itself is unreal and already puts them clearly above anyone else. Paul Roos have produced the most Springboks overall however most of those were from the early 1900s before the professional era (38 of the 54 total boks being capped before 1950). In the professional era, Grey Bloem have produced the most Boks, 22 capped since 1996 (double the next best School), and have by far the most U18s produced (more than all other teams combined) and the most U20s. I'm afraid Paul Roos and Paarl Gim are fighting it out for a distant 2nd.
@@Vander-K Nope, that would be Grey College.
@@Vander-K Nobody comes close to Grey. You're insane if you geniunely think Paul Roos is better
Obsessed over kids rugby😂
People don't understand how big schoolboy rugby is in SA. Most English prem teams have stadoums with 15 to 20 000 capacity. Paarl school derbies in SA can attract more than 25 000 fans, and is aired on TV. Its absolutely nuts how serious this is here, and probably not good for the kids because the pressure to perform is intense
disagree, gives them a taste of what most on that pitch want to do and go big time.
3.25 the opposition Nr 5 tries to jump on he Grey Bloem prop Wessels after went over for a try. Dangerous move, someone did that to me and did serious damage to my shoulder. The Nr 5 just bounced off of Wessels lol. Think the prop didn't even notice lol
Next time ,to make it a fair contest Grey must play their 7th team.
just allow 11 guys on their side to make it fair
Years ago I played in the 7th team at a fanatical rugby school. The 7th team consisted of boys who hated rugby, and were forced to play, amazingly we bonded as a team and often our score was over 100.
The number 10 reminds me of Henry Hannibal
Ruan Pienaars real father
Talk about a one sided affair
SA schoolboy rugby has one of the most big players in schoolboy history and no one can match their level
Ouch!
Damn!
Hartpury were lucky to get 0
🤣
Well done Gray boys
Thailand will be interesting as this period for northern hemisphere schools as the Irish and English schools are fully free from representatives and cup competition commitments. There will be no excuses this time if there's a drubbing like for most other periods in the year.
But SA school boys first team boys will have left
@@owethunala2632 damn so there's no way either hemisphere can face each other at there best, guess it just means that an alignment of the rugby calendar is needed.
@@Teesroad so it seems but either way some great rugby should be on display
@@owethunala2632is this the change where those games coming up will be posted or is that another channel

To think wessels is now part of the vodacom bulls urc campaign
Hartpury had a red card early in that game, but still that was a pasting from Grey
Carnage
Didn’t show the red cards tho
This honestly seems a bit fishy, but I hope with all my heart that I am wrong about this. RugbyPass had a story with Rassie that has lasted for the past couple of years now that even world rugby is stepping up to the plate in terms of improving accountability that is done. Now the pivot if I am reading this correctly is "steroids in South African schoolboy rugby" again I do hope I am wrong sincerely. BTW we test school boys for steroidsroids extencively in South Africa personally from under 16 onwards was tested more than half a dosen times and I was in a "no-name" school in a mid tear league. I do hope that his isn't the new "attack" on South African rugby it is a low blow. May still be good to sanitise the narrative by shining some light on it though.
Lol you're pretty wrong there buddy
They just can not stand losing. SA schools rugby has always been phenomenal.
Lol. There we go again. The silly Roids card. If you look closely who scored the bulk of the tries against Hartpury it was Ian Small Smith, the no9 and the other wing. If they can't tackle 75 kg high school boys best they need to bin their Roids cards and learn to actually defend.
Go look at the two Christchurch matches against Grey and Paul Roos vs St Peter's at Sanix in Japan - none of them could defend and the St Peter's guys were bigger. Which brings up my last point.
Polynesian lads are naturally large. You don't see South Africans pulling Roids cards on them.
Imagine if we said it was fishy your high school kids passed high school math with a high grade so must have used calculators. Really it's shitty.
Pap en vleis
Can't see why our Governing Unions can't finance the Champions from each countries and have a proper world championship, after all they're our future.
Can’t wait to see the decent English sides in Thailand like Sedbergh, Millfield and Trinity
How do their teams this year compare to Hartpury from whenever this was played?
Must be nice to have 3 teams there hey. Mind blowing that they only picked Grey to go. Paarl Gim and Paarl Boys high would smash these guys. In fact, Grey is our second best team
@@cornedenecker1636 no... Grey college is south Africa's best team with a 91% success rate. Yes other teams are very good without a doubt but Grey college has been on top for many years. I personally support paarl gym. But I have to give it to Grey to be honest. Great school
@@jay-v1098 just like an international team. They vary every year. And this year Grey is not the best team. They finished 2nd. So yeah. Gim should at least also be at that tournament.
@@cornedenecker1636 fair point
Inb4 the usual "steroids" comments 😴
More Plates more dates analysis required
South African teams are suspicious since they can’t be drug tested without a parents consent until they’re 18.
They just can not stand losing. SA schools rugby has always been phenomenal.
Yeah you know the drill. Everytime we are good at something we had to cheat to achieve it.
The Blitzboks are smaller than NZ and Fiji. You don't see us pulling out the Roids card.
Be dismissive all you like, but it’s well documented that PEDs are rife in SA school boy rugby. Just because you can’t accept it, is entirely irrelevant.
Pap and worse🧬🤷 if you know , you know!!!
Where’s the diversity in that south “ African “ team
From a Afrikaans school and they pick the best players and if some years there is less players of color so what
@@adamlawrence3415 spoken like a true white South African. Luckily you Dutch lot got what was long overdue. How are those apples now
The what?
There are big small skillful strong and Boers, ethnic Brits, ..atheists, protestants, even a catholic I'd say that is very diverse
@@marriedkiwi to be honest that is a conservative afrikaans school I doubt very much that there are catholic and protestants in that school let alone atheists but I see you and yes if they have good colored or black players there they will be picked
Hartpury college isn’t even in the top rugby schools in the UK 😂
No one said it was
I personally rank Grey college 7th is my favorite schools in South africa
They wont be in the top 50 here that's obvious
@@dn822 There probably isn’t even 50 rugby playing schools in the UK. It’s such a tiny sport here. It’s the equivalent of a school team coming from New Zealand and playing in a football tournament in the UK.
