Just bought the 567 Broadway DVD. First time I’ve had fun in a dance fitness “class” since the 1990s. Because it is DANCE, with great music, choreography, a cast of all ages and body types. Can’t say enough good things about it. Thank you Joseph Corella!
Phew!! I'm knackered as we say in the UK, my favourite bit of this video is where you said 'If you've got a British accent then yay'. Ha ha. Thanks lots for this!
My school got to take our production of Matilda to Texas Thespian festival and we got to perform in front of thousands of people. Doing revolting children there was one of the greatest moments ever. Also, my school just announced were doing footloose next year and I figured it was time for me to get dancing again! I loved this, and am definitely sweating!
SUBSCRIBED !! I lost so much weight dancing in musicals and when I was only doing plays I gained it back, you’ve made me so excited to perform and be active again! A million thank yours!
Hi Joseph! I love your videos and they have been such a great way for me to keep dancing during this time period! I would love to see combinations to maybe Come to the Fun Home from Fun Home or Summer in Ohio from the Last Five Years! Also literally ANYTHING from a Chorus Line! Thank you so much!
Loved this workout. It's great to have the cool down as part of the combo, same musical. Nice. Favorite theater dance scene: I like to be in America from West Side Story. So joyous and lots of clapping and fun.
My favorite theatre moment was when I was the mean aunt sponge in James and the giant peach junior. In a scene, I go "I can't go to jail the food is holy unacceptable for a palet such as mine" than I squirt whipped cream in my mouth. I had to do that each show and rehearsal (I did get tired of whipped cream) but it was fun and I loved the audience's reaction.
This was SO MUCH FUN!!! Thank you! Here is one funny moment for me as a performer: We - the poor - were doing a mob entrance for the top of Act 2 in Urinetown - and as we rushed on my boot came flying off and as I ran back to get it I was almost trampled by the VERY committed performers. I barely got back in time for a freeze with my boot in my hand. I had to put it on at the beginning of singing a solo for "What is Urinetown" (as Becky Two Shoes). Someone watching told me later it looked like I was doing some kind of fancy dive roll entrance so I guess that's good! Thanks again!
My awkward moment was when I was playing Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz & the girl playing the Tin Man forgot her lines & there was 15 seconds of awkward silence (I was 12 years old). I absolutely LOVE YOUR VIDEOS! Here are some (sorry they’re a lot) of suggestions for some future videos: - Show Me How You Burlesque (from Burlesque) - I Got Life (from Hair) - Cabaret (from Cabaret) - Rich Man’s Frug (from Sweet Charity) - Opening: I Hope I Get It (from A Chorus Line) - I’ve Had the Time of My Life (from Dirty Dancing) - Greased Lightnin’ (from Grease) - You’re the One That I Want (from Grease) - You Can’t Stop the Beat (from Hairspray) - Dancing Queen (from Mamma Mia) - Lay All Your Love On Me (from Mamma Mia) - Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (from Mamma Mia) - Voulez-Vous (from Mamma Mia) - Seize the Day (from Newsies) - Carrying the Banner (from Newsies) - You Should Be Dancing (from Saturday Night Fever) - Singin’ in the Rain (from Singin’ in the Rain) - Moses (from Singin’ in the Rain) - Good Morning (from Singin’ in the Rain) - America (from West Side Story) - Cool (from West Side Story) - Dancing Through Life (from Wicked) - Ease on Down the Road (from The Wiz) - Lady Marmalade (from Moulin Rouge) - December, 1963 (from Jersey Boys) - Footloose (from Footloose) - Last Dance (from Summer: The Donna Summer Musical) - Hot Stuff (from Summer: The Donna Summer Musical) - Bad Girls (from Summer: The Donna Summer Musical) - She Works Hard for the Money (from Summer: The Donna Summer Musical)
1. This dance hurts my brain and I love it. 2. Funny story. Was in a production on Oklahoma. We had two turn tables that brought us on stage for Act 2. One night we are sitting and sitting and no one is moving. Come to find out that one of the actresses was just in the right spot and got stuck between the turntables like one of the three stooges. We then had to go on stage and do The Farmer and the Cowboy should be friends without peeing on ourselves from laughing so hard.
I just found these videos a week or so ago and have been doing one most every night! I m9ssdoing Theatre and dance so much and these have really brought the joy of Theatre back into my life! The most funny moment I had on stage was when I was in crazy for you, I was a follies girl and we came out to do the opening number and I went to go into thos circle formation to do a tap thing and fell flat on my face, but got back up and kept going! It was opening night too. After the the number I went back stage and had a panic attack but had to go back on stage for another scene but that didnt stop me! It was very embarrassing in the moment but like the saying goes "the show must go on!"
i was in rehearsal for newsies, and i played crutchie, and i was singing my solo onstage for the first time, and i was so scared. but then, i saw my girlfriend in the audience and she was cheering me on, and it made me feel really confident. probably not the best predominant feeling to have during “letter from the refuge”, but it was a nice boost!
My favorite theatre moment!!: It was Peter and the Starcatcher during the mermaid song and one of the boys in the musical was choreographed to get on top of a trunk. So he did and he had cans in his wig (allude to the trash in the ocean) and one can fell out, so he played it off by drinking from the can. But as he did that and tilted his head back his entire wig fell off! So, he played THAT off by taking off his wig cap and twirling it around as the scene ended and everyone exited. Hands down my favorite show even though I wasn't able to see it happen because I was downstage from him. But, thankfully that night they filmed it. It truly was a special night because of that hilarious moment and the crowd loved it and their laughter was so loud. Truly an amazing mess up and theatre moment, it always makes me smile!!
Best moment was when the director of our Taunton youth theatre in Somerset , UK , paraded me all around the green room and to all the cast members after the first show because he was so proud of me saying to them “ Now THIS is an actor “ I could have cried I was so full of joy because I was a shy girl and NEVER been told I was good at anything . I was told I was stupid by my parents and beaten so when I got on. stage I let EVERYTHING out like it was a fight for my life ( which it was , as my siblings and I where lucky to be alive after all the brutality and cruelty of both parents , so this musical has a powerful effect and is poignant to me ) THANK YOU
My favorite moment was when I play Mrs. Phagan and the lights went out during 'My Child Will Forgive Me' Immediately after we all go offstage for the intermission the person playing Mr. Dorsey comes up to me and says: "Was that my fault? Did I do something wrong?" and I crack up laughing because that specific light cue somehow got deleted to my knowledge.
I played Mrs. Brill in Mary Poppins earlier this year and at the beginning of the show Katie Nanna stumbles as she storms off stage. But one time, as she stumbled, her shoe flew off towards me so I improvised by picking it up and angrily throwing it back to her in the wings. It was just a dress rehearsal, but the director and everyone in the wings and sound/light booth were laughing so hard! It was really hard not to break character!
I’ve had a few! -When I played Miss Dorothy in Millie, my wig fell off right after Ah! Sweet Mystery of Life. -During The Sound of Music’s party scene, my dance partner missed his cue and I had to try and dance the Laendler by myself 😅 -When I played Little Red in Into the Woods (as a freshman in HS), I put jalapeño juice under my eyes to make myself cry during No One is Alone. One night I accidentally jabbed myself in the eye, and I was blind for the rest of the show.
Not really a funny moment, but there are a few that are really fun from the show I was in, but we got cancelled on opening night because of covid. 1. In a dress rehearsal, someone was late on entering, and we had a really wobbly platform set on the stage, we all had to stand on. And this person that was late, just shoved between me and my friend I was standing next to for this scene, and this person caused my one foot to then be hanging off the platform. A second later, I fell off the platform in heels, and a dress. It was not fun. 2. So with this show we entered from the steps and danced on them, and so we were waiting behind the doors to the theater, and we were all doing all the choreography to the overture songs, and now I can’t listen to the overture without crying, wanting to do choreography, and also wanting to do the 12345678 shaking thing, because that was another thing our groups would do while waiting.
When I was in high school, I played the Fairy Godmother in Cinderella. The director blocked it so that every time I did something magical I threw a fistful of glitter into the air from a secret pouch hidden in my floofy skirts. If that wasn't enough, there was a window in the set that actually opened up into backstage, so if we had to enter from stage right we had to crawl underneath the window to avoid being seen. One night when crawling to make my entrance, the pouch opened up and the whole thing poured a pile of glitter onto the ground. Well, you know how glitter is... so it is STILL all over the theater, and I regularly hear about it from people who still work there- Twelve years later! I love your workouts, I'm so glad I found them! I'm just about to graduate with my Master's in two weeks - your videos definitely helped me get through the stress of the last two years!
This is so much better than re watching the original song over and over and over to try and learn the dance so... this will be a lot of fun!

I am doing this right before I am gonna watch matilda (Where I live we are out of quaritined right now so I can go see the musical)

Could you do one the adults are in; like for an audition piece
What's your favorite funny moment that happening while performing on stage or in the wings???
Joseph Corella once i had a quick change but it took 20 min and the people on stage were just waiting. 😳
I played Mrs. Brill in Mary Poppins earlier this year and at the beginning of the show Katie Nanna stumbles as she storms off stage. But one time, as she stumbled, her shoe flew off towards me so I improvised by picking it up and angrily throwing it back to her in the wings. I’ve had a few!
-When I played Miss Dorothy in Millie, my wig fell off right after Ah! Sweet Mystery of Life.
-During The Sound of Music’s party scene, my dance partner missed his cue and I had to try and dance the Laendler by myself 😅
-When I played Little Red in Into the Woods (as a freshman in HS), I put jalapeño juice under my eyes to make myself cry during No One is Alone. One night I accidentally jabbed myself in the eye, and I was blind for the rest of the show.

Hard if your body is inflexible and over weight but fun and I do laugh when attempting it in my clumsy way lol
My school was doing Matilda but then opening night it got cancelled cause of covid 🥺 this makes me happy and sad
Can you do one from Matilda but one the adults are in
Hamilton
