Shadow has really had a Wind Waker type of resurgence that I really appreciate. I used to look at Shadow's game like an embarrassing joke, but Sega has done an awesome job getting me to care about the character enough to respect even that game.
Wind Waker is something where I consider it, by the time they put out the HD version, one of Nintendo’s biggest “I told ya so”s in history. They ended up been so correct that their art direction would age so much better than pretty much all other 3d games that arrived in that generation and before it. They made the claim, back then, that they picked it because it was ageless… and they were right when so many consumers doubted them.

When the trio were tied up and came through the ring portal, I was really feeling the Sonic Heroes vibe when they rotated so that Sonic could pitch his plea for help. My mind was thinking someone pressed the X or Y button just there. :) Then I noticed it. Back when they were originally tied up, they were in the exact same formation as the Red, Yellow, and Blue icons as in the Sonic Heroes game. Where Tails would be on Sonic’s right and Knuckles on Sonic’s left. But when they came through the portal, somehow Sonic and Knuckles swapped places. Yeah, I noticed that, and it took my immediate familiarity of the Sonic Heroes rotation icons to pick it up.
Sonic Adventure 2 Battle for Game Cube was the first game I ever bought and owned myself as a kid! Seriously can’t wait for this movie. Young-me’s brains would’ve probably melted outta his ears if he know this was to come🤯💯
What's interesting to me is just how different this trailer is from the first one. Yeah, it still has a set number of jokes to let the audience know it is still a kids film, while the tone is still a bit darker. But in terms of story the two trailers don't really come together. In the first, it's implied that Shadow breaks out, causes mayhem, and Team Sonic needs Eggman's help. In this one, no team up is even hinted at, nor does it seem possible for what's shown. I genuinely have no clue how this film is going to play out - and that makes me excited.
