Plovdiv Bulgaria - A Walking Guide through the Old Town in August 2022

The old town in Plovdiv in Bulgaria is an architectural and historical reserve located on three of Plovdiv's hills: Nebet Tepe, Dzhambaz Tepe and Taksim Tepe.
It is pathed with cobbled streets. Cobblestones are typically either set in sand or similar material, or are bound together with mortar. Paving with cobblestones allows a road to be heavily used all year long. It prevents the build-up of ruts often found in dirt roads. It has the additional advantage of immediately draining water, and not getting muddy in wet weather or dusty in dry weather.
Balabanov house is emblematic for the cultural life in Plovdiv.
The house of Argir Hristov Kuyumdzhioglu, a merchant from Plovdiv, was built in 1847.
The house of the merchant Georgi Mavridi was built in 1829-1830
The house of the merchant and landowner Stephan Hindliyan was built in 1835.
Hisar Kapia is a medieval gate in Plovdiv's old town built in the 11th century.
These are just some of the wonders of Plovdiv's Ancient and Old Town.
