Thank you, this was super helpful and seems to be working for the most part but some of my results are suspicious. I'm trying to see how much of one polygon is within another. I have a buffer and want to see how much land within that buffer is forest to get a percentage of forest in the buffer. I have a few buffers and so far the numbers make sense on most of them, but with a few others the summarized area is larger than the total area of the buffer. Any ideas on how this is possible?
Be carefull when using this tool. You may not get the result you may be looking for, depending on the data (coverage) you throw in (just like me right now....) (See the Bug-Report on ESRIs official support site)
