1). Flag football is making the Olympics. 2). Wildness is key. Recent events are also key. Get a backhoe and dig out some trenches like Ukraine. Add some vehicles. Add drones. That’ll get people into playing woodsball, especially in Eastern Europe. They’re gunning up big time. Asia is gunning up big time. Perfect market to get with the times and expand. Woodsball particularly is ripe for this. Icpl doesn’t reflect the reality of interest, let’s say. 3). The price of entry is too high. If paint producers even cared about reducing $100k of support x 20 Pro teams then paintball is massively hurting. 4). Gambling is a huge bad idea. That industry has been ripped left right and center. Paintball doesn’t have the pull and connections to weather those incidents. 5). Paintball doesn’t have data analysis that’s reliable. They don’t understand how botting or internal view skewing works. Well, they’ll figure it out eventually. It’s not like every nation state isn’t employing a 21 year old white paper right now at content. 6). Paintball needs a deep recession to clear the way to reinvent itself. 7). Aging Pros can go spread paintball in Asia and Europe. The low testosterone, colon exam, and diminishing reflexes doesn’t need to be catered to. People want to see physical carnage. Send them to a country where they can buy a house and get their kids free or low cost university educations. End the boy band fetish years and bring back some honest rage and aggression like a marketable sport. 8). Mandatory 1v1s. Get some focus on a player shooting his way deep into the other teams roster. Work that into the new ideas.
They can't even keep the bunkers clean... The entire ground is covered with paintballs that will break on you when you dive into your spot. Look at how shitty the fields look in your video. Do you really think the people in charge of this will be making any improvements in the sport? The only people making real money in this sport are selling paintballs.
The paintball industry has made its self look so bad over the years, I dont know if its something that can ever be delivered to the masses again (like early 2000s). There should be more focus on what the sport can do to bring in new players and make it more accessible and appealing.
i honestly cant watch paintball for more than 5 minutes without wanting to click off, but 1v1's is super understandable to everyone and to me its far more entertaining
good thing paintball is one of the most cringe things you can do as an adult, just go talk to anyone that doesn't play. no one gives a F about paintball besides avid paintball players and theres a lot of them who see it for what it is, a money sink hobby
If you are going to do a limited number of points, I think the lowest you can realistically go is 5. If they only want to do 3 points, might as well go back to the NPPL 7 man format. I like doing away with the towel in the current format. Maybe let the coaches have 1 concession to use. The buzzer idea is just awful.
It’s like they’re shooting for NFL quarters. They’ll make the viewership watch a blur of teams play rapid round robbin with each other. That’ll confuse casuals even more seeing a tasting menu of paintball.
Wanna make paintball more fun to watch? Limit game length, limit pods, ban ramping and bring back semi uncapped. This will force aggressive plays and end this 12+ minute standoff games when a team is 1 point ahead and up bodies. It is BORING to watch. Do best of 5 with 4 minute rounds. I agree with you on removing the concede button. That will also force aggressive plays. NXL Chicago was awful to watch.. It's just not fun to watch when teams just hold lanes ALL GAME LONG with back players holding 10+ pods. The 2008 Era was so fun to watch. Tons of run downs and tons of aggressive plays. You just don't see that anymore when the clock will run from 15 mins to end until a point is conceded or scored. I think these changes are going to be great for the sport. Although it isn't quite like the old days, it is sort of going back to that era. Not sure how you think this will force points to be played more slow than they were before.... If they play slow it's only 4 mins max... Not a 7-12 minute standoff. I will however play devils advocate here and say that changing these rules right before cup is kind of nonsensical. Finish the series out and then change stuff next season. NOT right before the final event. Seems like odd timing. Either way we have to embrace it. I see your gripes but 4 minute games will absolutely force teams to be more aggressive. They will also be shooting more during that 4 minutes because they don't have to have the mindset of "I have to make this paint possibly last 10+ minutes if this is a slow point. With 4 minutes on the clock that time will go by FAST. And if you only have 1 minute left and 5 pods left teams are gonna be shooting aggressively and not one balling. I think it will be fun to watch. I will also add one more thing. This whole relegating teams to the lower tier is STUPID. With that rule if Ironmen keeps playing poorly they will be in semi pro for the first time EVER. This will likely result in a complete blunder to the team entirely as paint is no longer free and the team may just split up. Let the semi guys like Fit and Blast camp move up. But if they continue to relegate teams for playing poorly that season it will be a never ending move down, move back up, over and over each year... Rosters change yes but let the pro league get bigger. Not smaller by kicking the lowest team and bringing in the best semi pro team. GROW IT. Don't keep it stagnate.
First off. Taking the time to write that out is incredible. You really care about the scene. So Cole Ball is a "test format" an optional Tournament alongside Xball. But it's created to seal the deal in partnership with big media. It wouldn't take over until years down the road. Pod limit to 4 would 100% work. It's like when you're at a scrim with a low paint budget. You take out 3-4 pods and get creative running down the field. Much love I'll share this on IG
@@WillBallForSoup limited paint is more fun to play and watch, as you say its like a scrim with low amount of paint and players need to be creative and come up withe tactics on the fly.

As apposed to 1 game! What happened to playing 1 game, if you lost your out! Now they have to play 5-8 points and who ever wins the most wins.. Best of 3 sounds pretty good! How about really cracking down on cheaters! Like they get a 1 year ban for wiping a Hit, or playing on! So the actual best teams win! CHEATING is the biggest problem in paintball! Until you fix the cheating aspect, Paintball is dead! Also, why do the pro's play a different game? There should only be 1 FORMAT! Super 7 for the win!
I think this new format is gonna be dogshit, I know a fair amount of people that would play traditional x-ball 10/10 times before they play this new BS, I pray this doesn't work out because I think it will just make the sport more boring like you said. I also feel like I would be playing a capture the flag game mode, it will just feel like race to the 50 drills.
The icpl woodsball this last month was the best thing that's happened in a while, the nxl is boring and lame to watch. The bunker thing is so boring. Needs to be far more diverse of fields with waaay more obstacles. Not just solely doritos, can's, tombstones, etc....
Personally looking forward to watching the new format. Also looking forward to playing a new style of paintball. More paintball is a win win. Good footage goof 🎥
i mean we can all admit PB today isnt easy to televise. at least hes trying to do something, im not against less points per match honestly, it allows the d5 guys to be able to practice/play like the pros they wanna become if they have a better price estimation per tourny and all that. also it would make each point mean more again. i do like theat we get a feel for teh better team has won this match sure, but the conceding of points goes away if you only have X number of points. thus making each point matter much more! may slow the game down some though.....no matter what someone wont be happy lets just have fun competitively?
less games makes it more exciting and for better underdog stories. more games just favors the absolute best teams to win, rather then whoever played best that day. there are arguments for both in tournaments.
Tom is looking for a big payout from these networks. Having Matty be able to draw on the stream showing lanes and player locations is a great step but the game itself isn't great for watching by nonpaintball people.
I think it is just a experiment and that Tom means well. And willing to try anything as long as it's pushing speed ball. Maybe that is not the only format to promote. I think a video game field like modern warfare or cpx had with the nuketown field would be easier for viewers who have never played to understand. Maybe concouring a castle in the woods or other mil sim style is less complicated then why one team got a penalty for wiping and the other team didn't. Maybe go back to 15 bps for pros or uncapped mechanical. I like the he is willing to try something, but don't think this experiment is it.
Honestly they should have a better way of having beginners in tournament play like pre-rank . Something that can simulate the play style while still showing both sides of being ready to play points to getting your team on one page. That way people don’t dive in head first with really no plan . Something that the local fields can run all over everyone has the same rules ya know , I’m still kinda new to speedball and tournament stuff so my bad if what I said sounds dumb.
You'll see D6 pop up at some events which is a super beginner division. Young guns is making a comeback too. Id like to see D4-5 only allow players of that rank But keep Xball and tweak it Not Cole Ball 🏈
I think it's funny how nxl/tom likes to test these ideas with the pros only. Wouldn't it be better to put a limited entry (6-10 teams) on a separate field making the entry for that format cheaper with a good or great prize/payout? Just my opinion...
I think this format would not be great. If its ONLY for pro play then i guess its whatever but even then not really. Putting a buzzer on the field in a random high played area would be so stupid and unfun altogether
Paintball will never make it on TV, the GoSports webcast is about as good as it gets. There is no focal point for the camera and you can't see the paintball most of the time. Just a bunch of people in their action stance fanning their gun. The only story to tell on TV would be about how the pro players make chump change and the divisional teams dump money into the industry. Go play joust or duel with Hormesis and have fun locally spending more on the game and less on the expenses of travel, entry, food and lodging. Not sure how Tom's changes will work, but he is more dialed into paintball and been around a lot longer than the dipsticks channel. #wearit
Eliminate "playing down" in D4 and D5. So a D5 team would have all D5 players. Keep the sandbaggers at home. Combine this with cost/prize changes to make entry and paint as affordable as possible.
I’ve been trying to say that lowering the points gap between D4 and D3 would stop the ability for D4 players to stay in D5 forever. Make it like 399 for a start of season bump. Clears all the clutter out of D5 while allowing smaller leagues to introduce D3 divisions.
@@johnnyboy8603I started playin 2 years ago and have played 2 seasons. And defiantly got beat up on year one as a new team of beginners. Season 2 went better but we also picked up 2 d4 body’s for some events. Cost for beginners is a big problem that idk if you can really do anything about

Oh no you were cleared it. It was for the pro division only but why do it now? You should be doing. They should be doing this in the off season instead of just popping it up at world cup. The biggest stage of them all where teams go to prove their self not to go to watch a boring unexciting event

Go back to original TRUE xball, This is not complicated. 25 min halves, no straight to 7. This is such nonsense, tournament paintball has become pathetic. Travel all the way to these tournaments and you barely play points for it to be worth it.

It's also currently being tested at cup. So if the test gets negative feedback they will inevitably go back to the drawing board. Thank you for the support

😅😅😅 Tom Cole literally stole afpl idea. I'm sure John would be happy😅😅😅
Show version of red zone
If they're going to try to do this at world cup this year, all the proteins should refuse to play
So it's an optional test for now in just the pro division. I should have been more clear when I said "test format"
good thing paintball is one of the most cringe things you can do as an adult, just go talk to anyone that doesn't play. no one gives a F about paintball besides avid paintball players and theres a lot of them who see it for what it is, a money sink hobby
@@WillBallForSoup Ahhh I completely missed the test part. That’s my bad. Appreciate all you do in this sport! We have got to work together to grow this sport or it will continue to fizzle out. Its gonna take some trial and error for sure. Excited to see how things pan out. Much love and respect brotha!
Limit pods to 4-5. Been saying that for years. Blind layouts. This would shake things up.
5:03 maybe limit concede to one per set for teams. But not unlimited for sure
Paintball will never be on tv full time. That has been proven over the last 30 years. Focus on the players.
i mean we can all admit PB today isnt easy to televise. at least hes trying to do something, im not against less points per match honestly, it allows the d5 guys to be able to practice/play like the pros they wanna become if they have a better price estimation per tourny and all that. also it would make each point mean more again. i do like theat we get a feel for teh better team has won this match sure, but the conceding of points goes away if you only have X number of points. thus making each point matter much more! may slow the game down some though.....no matter what someone wont be happy lets just have fun competitively?
4 pods and a hopper please
2:27 will be soon but facts NXL making rules to restrict the gameplay that makes paintball ; bull for TV wont be pure paintball
less games makes it more exciting and for better underdog stories. more games just favors the absolute best teams to win, rather then whoever played best that day. there are arguments for both in tournaments.
Tom is looking for a big payout from these networks. Having Matty be able to draw on the stream showing lanes and player locations is a great step but the game itself isn't great for watching by nonpaintball people.
if you want to run paintball like football just run it like NSL airsoft i think thats a great format.
Love ya scotty, keep being controversial! Personally, tommy boy can smd.
Id like to see D4-5 only allow players of that rank
But keep Xball and tweak it
Not Cole Ball 🏈
I think it's funny how nxl/tom likes to test these ideas with the pros only. Wouldn't it be better to put a limited entry (6-10 teams) on a separate field making the entry for that format cheaper with a good or great prize/payout? Just my opinion...
Horrible idea.
I think this format would not be great. If its ONLY for pro play then i guess its whatever but even then not really. Putting a buzzer on the field in a random high played area would be so stupid and unfun altogether
Dont see this working out
Paintball will never make it on TV, the GoSports webcast is about as good as it gets.
#wearit
Please keep it how it is!
I’m all for removing the concede button. More excitement and it’s also confusing to new viewers.
I love the vid Scotty, I noticed that you’re now at 20K subs, will we be getting that Gun Giveaway?
Stacking my paper unless y'all want an axe 2.0 lol
They aren't going to drop paint prices... This is the biggest downfall
No buzzers please.
Yea i think this format sounds terrible.
Welp guess I’m getting a bigger harness and more pods cuz this new idea your going to need to get a case a match
So the NXL steals the AFPL REDZONE concept…how original Tom…
Willballforsoup, what would you personally change about today’s game? Heard what you like and don’t like but curious what you would do. Love the vids!
Cost for beginners is a big problem that idk if you can really do anything about
the entire time i heard tom talk about this it felt like my brain was melting. its so damn stupid lol
xball in its urrent format is fine. maybe do things to the current format to make it more TV friendly. dont come up with a whole new format AGAIN.
See you at WC Scotty!
Oh no you were cleared it. It was for the pro division only but why do it now? You should be doing. They should be doing this in the off season instead of just popping it up at world cup. The biggest stage of them all where teams go to prove their self not to go to watch a boring unexciting event
Can you imagine a guy like this trying to start a business relationship with you. Holy degen weirdness. No wonder Tom Cole stays far away lol
You and Tom should hang out.
Neither of you have anything that resembles legitimate criticism or counterpoints regarding my content.
Move along smoothbrain. You're not welcome here. But there's plenty of sanitary bullshit content out there for ya. Check out Greed$pan's show!
Or hey, maybe you can make your own content?
sooooo afpl redzone😂,but the boring version of it.
Have to try something. And the way it’s going now isn’t getting it done.
I agree. Tweaking the format in itself isn't a bad idea. Just these specific tweaks (mostly) don't make sense.
Always fallow the money!
Worst takes on RUclips bro never change 😂😂😂
Might as well go back to the woods
Go back to original TRUE xball, This is not complicated. 25 min halves, no straight to 7. This is such nonsense, tournament paintball has become pathetic. Travel all the way to these tournaments and you barely play points for it to be worth it.
Dude spends 6 minutes actually talking then the rest crying about himself and his fragile ego 😭
At least I'm not spending 10 minutes dickriding my sponsors 🌝
tom cole. we’re all waiting. time to step up. scotty wants the smoke.
Dude you can play whatever format you want.? No has ever been forced to play a format of paintball. It's an offer, you don't have to play woods do you? ❤ the conversation and your content. Plus we are friends on Instagram.
We definitely can. But reading between the lines Tom wants this format to become the future of paintball. He presented good ideas and bad ideas and this video gives his pitch a fair shake. It's also currently being tested at cup. So if the test gets negative feedback they will inevitably go back to the drawing board.
Thank you for the support
@@WillBallForSoup it was a good interview. Ultimately what needs to happen is everyone needs to bring 3 friends to paintball. ♥️ the channel ✌️
