I've always admired her for her elegance, superb acting skills and for the fact that, despite her immense success, she remains very much a private person. It's tragic that her resilience was tested so early in her career, which I believe puts her lifetime achievements into a whole new perspective. I must say I admire her even more now.

This is a wonderfully sad and wonderfully happy story about what real love is. John and Meryl had a short and somewhat tragic relationship in which they lived a lifetime in two short years and Meryl and Don have a long happy fruitful relationship that exemplifies the true meaning of a loving partnership. They are blessed and they are fully aware of that. May they continue to be so.

Al Pacino met up with his best friend John Cazale shortly after they filmed "Dog Day Afternoon". John seemed awestruck saying "OMG, I just met the greatest actress in the history of the world" and mentioned his time with her acting in "Measure for measure". Al Pacino just said John must be in love, she can't be that good.
    It was Meryl Streep.

This just broke my heart. It is very very hard being with someone and watching them die from this dreaded disease and more so small cell lung cancer. They wither away to nothing. He came back to tell her it will be alright... Like my beloved - and after that, he never said another word. Rest in peace John Cazale, my Beloved and all the people who have passed through cancer being a major factor in their illness. Yet, they all beat cancer as they don't die from it but rather pneumonia or something like that.

I can't help but wonder if John's inherent sadness and reflection of doom in his demeanor meant that his body was telling him it wouldn't endure for long. His genetics were holding virtually all the cards, he could do nothing but let them play out, do the best he could.

I always knew that John Casale had a very amazing story from his ability to play such desperately, but comically forlorn characters such as he played in both "Godfather" movies and the timid and exploited character, 'Sal,' who was Pacino's transexual-to-be lover in "Dog Day Afternoon," as well as his tragic death after these were already in the can. But I only knew a couple of small details about his relationship with Ms. Streep.
You presented their story with so much respect and sympathy. I can't think of another channel that would have done half as well at portraying Meryl as the strong, dedicated woman she is; as one who did not need a man to prop her up, but accepted one who was her equal in all things, as well as the love of her life who was as loving and supportive as she was.
You were so courteous and enlightened in this presentation and it was done with decency and tolerance; which is just as rare today as it was back then, since most people find the world of Covid too much for their minds (and manners) to remember how we used to care for one another; before 2016 and the last four years of being fed the Big Lie and the word "fake news" turning everyone into orange-Cheeto zombies...
So, without writing another book, thank you so much for this illuminating and unbiased look into the life of two of Hollywood's greatest actors. I earnestly look forward to each production you release!

Wow. I wasn't aware of this relationship. It's very sad, but it's lovely how devoted she was to him and how she was able to stay with him all the time at the end. It's sad that she had to miss 2.5 months earlier when they were separated by an ocean while she was filming. I can't imagine how heartbreaking that must have been for her. I love that Al Pacino said that he thinks of her grace and strength, not her Oscars, when he thinks of her. Also, it's sweet that such a devastating end to a relationship ended up with a chance meeting that eventually brought her together with her future husband.

I remember reading about this quite some years ago she is a beautiful soul I’ve always loved her in movies. I remember watching the movie falling in love w/ Robert Dinero when I was younger my heart broke for her. She’s a strong woman and I’m glad she found love after such a painful loss.

    Wow! In the movie..
The hours. She says at the end to her ex boyfrnd we stay alive for people. That's what we do... We try to stay alive for them. Loosely quoted. My fave line n movie. Now I get the full meaning!! She said she pretended happy in her real life with her love dying. I'm kind of like that too Meryl!
I keep smiling in spite of life's hard times. I cry when I'm alone. It's dignified for me anyway.? There's no. Rules for grief!! So glad you met your husband!

Meryl Streep is an outstanding actress & at the same time this story tells her outstanding devotion to her loved ones. I always admired her in the past and after listening to this story I will appreciate & admire her even more for the honesty & truthfulness she has shown towards her life partners. Beautiful lady from inside and out.

I like some of Maryl's acting. Not a fan of her politics, but this just goes to show that a person is so much more complex than just the job they do or how they vote. This makes me respect her more.

John Cazale was an incredible method actor. Fully immersing himself in every part. Everyone who worked with him learn from him. Both Pacino and DeNiro cite John Cazale the individual who taught them the most about acting

I respect also her desire for a private life and apparently she's been successful in doing that for the most part despite her being one of the most iconic and beloved actresses of all time. So nice to know she found that special someone and that she is happy. ❤🙏
