I saw a comment once saying that Godzilla would have no reason to kill her since she helps keep the oceans safe from the mermaids, and Godzilla's job is to defend the planet, which is his territory, from anything that could be a threat to his power. By doing that, she basically makes his job easier. I honestly never thought of it that way.
