  • All smart students have something in common - and no, it has nothing to do with IQ or intelligence.
Smart students WHO ARE THE LEAST STRESSED OUT (yes, that needed to be in caps) all think a certain way.
Yep - we’re talking about mindset here.
In other words, I’m making the argument that what’s holding you back (stress, anxiety, grades not where you want them, etc.) has nothing to do with how smart you are, but has everything to do with how you think.
Because … do I need to remind you that how we THINK impacts how we ACT? Ah, there is it 😉
In this video, I reveal the top 3 mindsets of the top-performing, least stressed-out students.
Hey, guess what?! I appreciate you. Xoxo - Katie

Good evening, most of my assignments are writing assignments, i.e. extended essays, preciś, exegetical papers, response papers, etc.etc.
You give an illustration of "reading the book" in order to be prepared, in your illustration for the essay that was assigned. Am I understanding you correctly in that I having read the book and done the writing assignment, I have learned the material? I ask because, at times, I don't think I have and on occasion, stumbled over, trying to explain a completed assignment to someone who has asked about the work I'm in or completed.

Good question. It’s definitely possible that we can read a book and not really understand it, or write an essay that is full of fluff and doesn’t reveal an understanding of the material. But in most cases, in order to write a substantial essay on a book you’ve read, you have to have understood the book, and in order to argue a substantial thesis, you have to have nuanced understanding of the concepts you’re writing about.
Most of us can explain things more easily when we understand them, but sometimes something else is going on. If your friend is asking you about work you completed, and you’re having trouble explaining your work, maybe too much time has gone by and you have forgotten some things, or maybe it’s a weakness in summarization skills. Because in order to explain something to somebody, we need to be able to summarize it. So it doesn’t necessarily mean that you didn’t understand the content you wrote about, but perhaps you’re just having trouble verbalizing it for another reason. That’s the exception and not the norm, but it’s still possible

@@SchoolHabits thank you for your reply. It's extremely helpful. I started listening to your podcast recently, enjoying it tremendously.
I have a question that I'm hoping you have or can find an answer for. Is it possible to do more without adding more to do? If that makes sense. For example, (not knocking any methods, only pointing out, for me it would be one more thing to add to the list of things to do that are overwhelming me currently) in episode 4 "what to do when you're overwhelmed:..." (I've been dealing with this sense of being overwhelmed for over a month now) you offer the resource of an 'admin task checklist', which sounds like a great aid, but again it came off to me as one more thing to do, thus adding to the things that I'm overwhelmed by, when I'm attempting to just complete what it is I have to do in the moment.
Thank you for your time and tips.
